There is nothing dirty about this...true...but this is a period film..not a Gen X movie ...and if you see all the backup dancers....their dresses are different from the lead actress and more fully covering...and probably that was how women dressed back then...
The idea is...if you want to represent the era properly...then Deepika should be dressed the same way.....that her dress is shorter is only for entertainment purposes...and objectification of her and her physique....
She is essaying the role of a Rajput queen here... so there is a certain dignity that has to be kept...which is why there were objections to her costume...

This song was such a rage when released in 2017.I remember going to the hall and being careful amidst protests in Delhi and some parts of India.Loved the movie, dance, set and makes one remember the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.Khamba Ghani!🙏🏻

But as a part costume glitch Sanjay kept everything in the song authentic how it used to be back in times and still now specifically rasajthani costumes then why did he have to do unnecessary experiment of waiste showing? It is no where to be found. I searched for years. Could not find the making. Other than Ghoomar other songs from Padmaavat have their making videos. I think the reason is in the making video which is the Original, Deepika is wearing the unedited revealing dress. So they’re not allowed to realease the video I think. I badly wanted to see the making of Ghoomar. I don’t think they will ever release it. Very Sad 😔
