You should really get a CNC plasma or laser cutting table sponsored for you. You’d be able to make such amazing parts so easily.
Or use send cut send
Or just grab a mini plasma cutter from Miller/Lincoln, hell even harbor freight.
Arcdroid
I was going to post this comment. Especially since he already has so much in CAD.
Forgot where I saw it, but for those tracking dots lay strips of painters tape down and then put the dots on that. So, when you go to take them off, you just peel the tape.
Star creations did that on Leroy ;)
B is for Buying Oscar Back!!!
Would love a special guest appearance by Oscar!
Why would he do that.hes got his own crap to do he's gone get over it.
B is for Being able to watch football and BIFB at the same time😂
With the football sound on.
Can’t not watch the Bama UGA game
Watching my beloved twins getting shelled
This thing is going to look so crazy. Can’t wait for SEMA
Keep going bro
Oscar is urgently needed 🚨🚨🚨
What happened to him?
No he's not.
@@_unkown404rror_9he left got a job with less hours to be home more.hes been gone where have you been lol.
Dude the amount of bots in the comments is insane 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Definitely add a thin strip of black rubber seal on the roof scoop cut. That is a detail that I would find impressive
most of the builds even tho look good. they are built janky and fast. which is the life of a YT car scene unfortunately
You need oscar back. Or at least someone else.
Oscar did a good job. 😭
I love Oscar but I also love seeing Chris back to actually doing stuff instead of just tasking Oscar to do everything. Good for Chris too to improve his metal work and welding, then Oscar can come back xD
Wait what happened to Oscar?
@@freddydabossdonbd5052he quit to have more predictable hours at a regular job.
@@freddydabossdonbd5052 He got a really good job so had to move on. They did a video on it if you want to details.
Vamp-orghini - Don't park that beast in the sunlight!!!! 🤣
Yeah 3D prints especially PLA does not do well in sunlight.
you can make a rubber seal that will fit in whete the cut is so it separates when u open it and closes airtight when closed
Hindsight, maybe if you could integrate the factory 3rd brake light into your custom hood/roof/hatch scoop final design? It would add even more functionality within creative design.
Bro to weld the 3D part together get the plastic welder with the squiggly pieces that melt into the plastic and hold it together. I think it would save you tones of time!
We miss Oscar!!!
We miss Oscar 😭
Go for Oscar!
a 2-birds-with-1-stone idea: Those nubs next to the taillights: Mount rods to the top of them, that support the wing from underneath. Thin adjustable rods like you usually see on front splitters. If you add two to each nub, in a v-shape, that will also triangulate the wing for increased stability.
Chris, you really need to look into getting an arc-droid plasma cutter. They may even sponsor you! They're a fantastic little piece of kit. That wing upright would've been done in just a min or so! Super compact units as well.
I knew this was going to look sick when he said he was keeping the Cyberpunk style. But that wing sets it off!!!!!! Love the taillights too.
It would be cool to see them Build a car with enough time for sema. Why always the rush? Just to see what they can do with time..
Bring back Oscar just cause we miss his work!
Yessir!! Been unpacking and cleaning all day, trying to settle in the new place. Just sat down to eat a bite and BAM! My boy Chris drops a banger! Thanks my guy! How's the rewire coming on the "yacht"?
You wont be going any where with that car at the slow rate you are going now,you should be completely finished the build one week before SEMA so you have time to pack & travel to the event, you don't want to be that guy who is rushed & stressed out with a unfinished build at SEMA
On the back run a full led strip light across where the bumper kicks out
We need a SEMA shirt that acknowledges the tradition of having some crazy ambitious plan that gets started way too late, you're behind the whole time, and then you barely finish it 😂
Wish you'd mimic the P51 Mustang belly scoop. That would be a cool look.
I agreed he needs oscar back, the spoiler bracket should have two plate with the bracket in the middle.
Have to fog shiny, there ways on TH-cam for methods to make a powder base to fog shiny stuff
Why focus in the roofvent and not getting all the panels done first?
Noice
Time for an Arcdroid or some other compact CNC plasma!
Reverse hinge on the deck lid would have been cool
Give it a spoiler similair to a 1991MR2 🏎️
I'd really love to see the mr2 style roof scoop. The big rounded triangle over the driver
That "wing mount" mounting point is garbage. Never drive this car fast. Oh wait. It's a SEMA car! 🤣
It's almost like you didn't hear the part where he said he'd be building a place to mount it.
@@Globbspeople always mouth off before they get all the facts. lol
Where will the leather straps go?
First view over here 😊
Love this
First
I love a stock Merci but I have to say this may look crazier than Damon's from DDE. Can't wait to see the finished results.
I really wish that roof scoop was a solid 1-2” taller
Chris, with that top brake light now coverd by the scoop, can you tie into that to have some engine bay lighting come off of that and get brighter when pressing the brakes or illuminate inside of the scoop?
Cyberpunk=excuse for not finishing something completely
You NEED an ARCDROID! stop killing yourself making the little annoying parts with a grinder
PETG-CF or ABS-GF ... large panels in PLA is just silly
Just the heat from the epoxy of the mould curing can be enough to warp normal PLA
Nice fabrication! Aren't you worried that your roof scoop blocks the upper brake lights?
What about if you make an infinity tail light!!?? 😮😮
I just wondered if you had an issue with heat just from the sun!! I’ve worked with fiberglass quite a bit and it has a thermal reaction while curing, are you thinking and or worried about that effecting your molds?
He's left this build too late he doesn't have Oscar anymore it will not be done in time He's going off previous years the two of them have no chance without Oscar's skills He's too indecisive to get it done in time watch him change his mind ten times on stuff it not work panic and go back to what would work. And if something from the Twilight Zone happens and it gets done I'll take everything back I said and tip my hat to the two of them
Hey Guys, I think the tail lights should stay just like that without a glass over. Just the LEDs and a tiny glass just in that opening for the LEDs. What do you think Chris, Kyle?
11/5 Sema start is not far away! , in my opinion you need to seriously shortcut experimental stuff . When you can,buy readymade stuff instead of making now you are a man down!
Cyberpunk is a major copout, I’m still gonna watch the build but I’ll be very excited once it comes time to build it clean
Add a doubling plate on the bottom of the wing to spread the downforce. Bare hardware may pull through the wing. Hindsight, cutting a slot and having the tab slip through with the base and hardware below might have withstood downforce better.
I would put a backing plate on the underside of the spoiler for the mounts. You don't want the bolts to pull through.
Im roof scoop im drawn back to my nfs underground days. They had one that was split and looked like a light in the middle.
This video doesn't feel right. Missing something. Dont know maybe its like youve been on this car for more than a year with minimal progress. And an hour long video about a roof scoop is pretty uneventful.
JUST me an my opinion .... On the wing top mount. Where it connects to the braces. You put one piece on the outside for the connection where I would of did one on both sides and it would have looked like it was a slot for the wing to mount into instead of just being a "brace"
Just my opinion and ill move along lol Cause aint nobody wanting to listen to this old fart
Reach out too Colin Furze, he has a portable CNC, he could tell you where to get one. Would really assist you cutting your steel parts.
Could absolutely add some kind of gasket\weatherstripping to properly seal the roof scoop, just a thin strip of rubber glued to the inner lip of the hatch portion would be perfect…
After seeing the spoiler mounted, i thonk you should just forget about the duckbill
2 things. Use flower and coat the body to get a 3d scan. 2nd thing. Use weather strips like they do for doors to keep the air in the roof air duct from “leaking”. I hope this helps✌️
Question: if it warps so easy with sun and a heat gun, won't it warp when you start talking resins/chemical reactions and stuff in the moulding process?
Trim the flanges off the original mounts, install nursery’s into them and you will have a clean solution!
A metal band saw and a narrow belt sander for steel is needed for faster fabrication of steel parts and less imperfections. Would be cool upgrades as well. #HarborFreight! Where you at?
Sure miss Oscar, but you need an extra set of hands to help you out. I kind of feel that using carbon fiber instead of steel for that car would suit better. Great work. God bless
The roof scoop gap fix. The hatch and roof sections of the scoop separate. Could you use garage door seal or flap? Or even some sort of rubber seal like the o round door seal.
If you could sand the paint off the drywall mub you can use water to wash it completely off and it should come off pretty easy. But then you would be starting completely over with body filler
20:42 the back of the car looks like a wasp's face. Thats why it reminds you of a wasp. Lol
I'm not sure if you mentioned it, but on the wing, where the bolts go through, are you doing a bottom plate to sandwich it in? It would be significantly more secure than just some washers, and it would tie in better with the overall look. You could even go as far as welding the nuts to it, and finishing it off, to make it one solid piece.
Few years ago I converted the big wing on my beetle to swan neck the same way and it held without any problems. I had 6mm aluminium stands and had to cross brace them with one diagonal rod tho...
If you're gonna talk about designing a spoiler, please give us a spoiler alert😊.
Have you tried 3d gloop for plastic welding? Should be able to avoid using the metal you melt in.
Don't mind me but I would suggest u to have two roof scoops on side so that third brakelight gets visible and u would have space for the functional hoodscoop by not interfering the aesthetics of the engine
I think you should keep the winglets on the rear spoiler… just turn them 180 .. in other words they’re upside down.
Arcdroid please help this man.
I think it would've been easier to intergrate the roof scoop into the top part before the hatch, that way you won't have to remove or make a complicated hinge part for it to bend with the hatch.
Instead of bolting the rear wing to the plates, can you rivet them? Might be a cleaner look.
@23:31 Americans will use anything except the metric system.
Please redo the piece with spackle on it, it's just gonna come off when you try to make the plug.
You could make a little lip on the underside of the roof scoop on the piece that will be fixed to the roof. That way no air should escape from the roof scoop.
I love this channel cause Chris one of us. I would legit want to chill with dude just cause he makes me think he's like a friend of mine. You don't get that too often on YT lol
you should make the right wall/side lip of the taillight slightly thicker to match the left
I think the rear bumper needs to extend onto the panel above like reverse vampire teeth over bite. Taper off to a round over at the top of the trunk lid area.
as far as the rear goes. i think you should cut the back piece out, make a clear 3 piece lexan tail light, that goes all of the way across
Can’t you just use plastic with a carbon fiber skin?
Those clear engine cover slats look so good. I was wondering why the top one wasn't clear, now it makes sense!
Fade the number in. It will look cleaner. Maybe try to follow the line of the spoiler with it too
I love the scoop. I personally think it'd be better if it were longer and 2 little fog lights integrated into it.
I think k maybe take the back bumper prices and make them into kind of a stand for the lip piece
This aint making it to SEMA bud, next year
Arc droid should be your friend I suggest you have a chat with them
Rubber seal groove in the cut of the roof scoop so it seals against water when closed.
I would’ve made a naca duct on the roof for function and asthetic
You also may want to ensure there is trackable features right behind the car
Have you tried the carbon fiber 3d printer filament
everyone complaining about Oscar. He gone, get over it and move on
Use binding bolts for the underside of the wing.
Where the fold is maybe put some thin rubble on the inside?
