I'm convinced that the problem is that bosses are geared exclusively towards massive tribes. Which basically requires on PVP. And colossal tribes are pretty much always full of raging dickheads making life even more difficult for new players. Which means the overpowered large groups are the only ones capable of beating bosses and getting even MORE of an edge in harassing solo players than they already do. Fucking terrible system when you think about it.
Every year me and my friends jump on, spend loads of late night on, get to about the same point and then don’t touch it for a year. Probably have hundreds of hours and never got to the tech stage

I’ll never forget my first time playing ark. Building a house on the beach and being so afraid to wander to far away from it. Playing on 1x and taking literal hours to be able to tame something. Those were the good ol days

I remember taming an argentavis and using console commands to change its colors because painting dinosaurs wasn’t available on console editions. It was a red white and blue bird named freedom because the ability to fly without landing every 100m felt like absolute freedom to me

It's still a dinosaur game. Literally all the other maps you still have to use dinosaurs all the time. All the new stuff they added to the game gave you a lot more to work twords.

There’s 2 different eras of ARK for me. The era before cryopods. And the era after.
Era before CP: raids were meticulous, hours and days of planning, getting schedules, making/getting mats
Era after cp: spam Dino’s at someone’s gates while they spam Dino’s back.
I remember we marched dinos all of scorched earth to raid 3 bases on the map… literally like 30 of us walking brontos in a line 😂

People have rose tinted glasses of their first week on ARK. It was always a sci-fi game if you pay attention to the lore/story, and make it to endgame.

Yep. It would be great if there were servers that didn't let you level past 45 or 50. Keep people away from tek, and limit them to smithies instead of fabricators. Not all servers, just some.

I was basically Poseidon, lord of the ocean on Ragnarok, tamed a small pack of squids and just lived in the ocean forever. Good times.
My friends and I made battleships in late 2015 on the island, by no means were we an alpha but we ran the oceans and rivers on the island. Our boats were too OP, and we had gates on rivers that people had to pay us to get through and we would come open the gates to allow them to pass. 🤣
@@mylifeaszachhI used to make war ships for my clan designed for storage with a top deck with about 2 catas and a ballista. Good times man, when fleets of war ships were viable. Nothing will ever compare to the first year when everyone was basically on the same ground so everything was viable then.

The game was 100x better before the Xbox release. Then it just started sucking
They are rebuilding the game in Unreal engine 5 with a lot of quality of life enhancements and features and may be worth giving a shot when it releases by the end of the year.

I remember joining my first mega after defending against them for a month straight. I stayed with them for 4 years honestly I had some of the most fun in my entire life there. As a man I was able to decompress my work and idk i cried on Ark, ate, slept, laughed, sweated, it was just fun. I miss it

It legitimately makes me depressed, ark was my entire high school experience. I had a duo and all the wipes/ small tribes servers we built on were the most fun part of my life yet. Finding cool base spots, yelling out cus we found a fat raid or good loot, wrecking other players in pvp and getting nice kits, and it’s all over

A theri destroyed my first ever wood base we had trikes but we’re still defeated 1 by 1 the theri eventually made it to our home on the beach and the rest was history. I escaped with some of the loot on a boat as the theri was ripping our home apart and built a new home on the mainland. To this day I am still terrified of that dinasour

I have seen ark videos since 2017 or 2018 and started playing it in mobile in 2019 and now that I got it last Christmas in Nintendo switch and I still play it to this day and it’s pretty much my childhood miss old days :(

just play normally lol. There's no "old" Ark XD Start a survival game in the Island and have fun progressing normally like pretty much everyone. Most people can't even complete the first map but still whine about the Genesis optional DLC lol.

@@MrYyy1945 There are plenty of servers still running. You can make your own too. Just use the same settings that were used in the official ones before, and it's all the same. Most people play with friends or solo. The official servers only ever had a very small fraction of the player base in them.
@@MrYyy1945you can still play on private servers with 10x harvest and exp rates. The one I’m on is a 3x server and it’s not that big of a deal.

Primitive ark was king man. Running round with a bow and a simple raptor was a giant threat. Was a true survival game.
My first memory of this game was back on the PS4 a few years ago, spawned on the island in the south zone, made a little thatch hut, got some fires up, some storage, and I walk outside and see a carnotaur running towards me, I was absolutely terrified.. Now I play with tons of mods on the PC and love every second.
Dude it takes me back when there were no carcha no tek dinos no tek suit and just hiding in you base with your dodo 🦤 and being afraid to go near any dino thinking that it would kill you the old ui the old argy the old ani aki genisis mod really hits different also playing on 1x rates and wondering how people get a pt saddle in ep 2 on their playthrough those were the days man those were those days😢
I know people trash on all the Tek stuff but I love it. Though I mainly play on my own sever with friends or by myself so I understand the official servers are different in terms of enjoyability but I feel it was something unique to Ark. A lot of survival games out there have the same levels of equipment but very few have Tek level equipment and I just thought it was cool. I’m sad they apparently aren’t gonna have it in Ark 2, if it comes out at this point.

I miss when people talked more about things they enjoyed than things they didn't.
The problem with ark isnt that they went sci-fi, anyone with a brain coul tell that sci-fi was always the end goal from alpha legacy days. The problem with ark is the lack of support for primitive plus, the hackers, the exploiters, and mostly wildcard's inadequacies on dealing with these problems along with many others and *cough cough* devs banning players that are simply better than them at pvp.
That as well as the new DLCs bing just... horrible. And not because of the Sci-fi. The ideas for them are neat and the graphics amazing. But the gameplay is just bland, full of bugs, glitches, and just stuff the devs half-assed or never bothered fixing. Then add to that the constant power creep by newer creatures and you end up with a bland, overly grindy and frustrating experience.

Both are great, and we should appreciate them both. Yes, Ark went in a different direction than most people thought it would. But that doesn't mean it got worse. Ark didn't become a new game, you can still just mess around and play with dinosaurs of you want to, it aged into what it was always meant to be.
no it was always what it was meant to be, and it was always headed in its proper direction. the lore was always there.
You’re wrong. 95% of the community will disagree with you. They should have never advanced the tek tier past the transmitter. Cryopods should have never been a thing. Raiding was much more fun and much more riskier when it was transmitter and drop downloading. The game was whole before they added in forcefields, skiffs, etc. the only people who want that were the people who couldn’t appreciate the game how it was in its prime because it was “too grindy” that’s what made it ark.
@@NightShadeSixx The people who want the "grindy" type of gameplay can still have it, just don't allow tek in your server. But saying the majority of players prefer that kind of ARK is like saying the majority of players are going to the end and beating the game in minecraft. It may look that way because the people who are like that are the most active in the community, but that is not the majority of people in the community.
I rememeber me and my dad playing this and even thought it was just us to we had built citys and houses for our dinos and we shared a house with a dodo farm and we had a helipad for all flying creatures😢😢😢😢and now the game has changed a lot scince then i miss the old ark
