That’s just beautiful. I’d like too design a card like that where you could put quarters in slots.

That's a great idea! It might be a good project for the perforated blade in the Maker machines :)

Would it have made it more difficult in cutting out the card if you only glued the gold card on the corners vs the entire card? So the word “lucky” wouldn’t have the scratchy looking effect?

I like that idea! You could even glue all around the perimeter of the gold card, with no glue in the center. I'm going to try it!

I'm not sure if the cardstock would have torn. I will test it :)

This would only work for design that didn’t have “floating” pieces after weeding. This is the whole point of cutaway cards is the adhesive keeps those floaters in place so you can have a more intricate design without having to adhere the floating pieces that get cut by yourself. Hope that makes sense.

What material setting do you use so that only the cardstock is cut and not the foil layer?

There is a “cutout card with backer” option in Cricut design space

I used the same setting that it called for with the Cricut Cutaway Cards :)

I don't have a cutaway mat and tried it with a regular piece of paper and taped the designer paper as you did but with the cutaway cut it went thru and didn't kiss cut my paper. is that because i don't have the special card mat? Thinking of using vinyl setting. just realized after videos it's like vinyl but with paper

I think it just means that you were using the wrong material setting. I would do a test cut to help figure out the right settings for your machine and the material you're using :)

Have you done this using a piece of regular card stock as your backer or does it need to be Cricut's special backer paper?

I think you can use anything you want. I just feel like this material holds up well to the adhesive being removed off of it. If I was using regular cardstock I would cut out the design first and then add the backer after so you don't have adhesive stuck to the cardstock!

I have the joy xtra, can you make a video similar to this one, but for the joy xtra? I'd like to see how well the foil tip does for scoring, using the draw feature.
