Hi, for those of you trying to learn by following this tutorial, on Rawtherapee's version 5.11 (Aug. 2024), the Transition Gradient options are different, no Feather Gradient (Grad. Filters) is available, because they moved it to the Graduated Filter tab/arrow. Thanks for the hard work on these videos, @Andy Astbury
I'm confused how the mask determines which part of the image it is working on. Maybe I missed it. Is it the placement of the mask within the frame tells the Raw which areas to pick up? Thanks.
It's the placement of the adjustment spot itself that defines the colour range that will be selected. The transition and shape detection controls take care of the edges, and the graduation controls define the gradient area. When you consider that other software approaches graduated filters in a much simpler manner, the RT method is complicated and far less obvious - this is what happens when 'coders' go mad and there is no oversight of their work by people who live in the real world!!!
