Its been 11 years, but i continue to come back to your song. Many things have changed, the world seems to get smaller every day. I guess thats just the fact of "growing up", as far as i can tell.
The time i heard this the very first time, my big goal in life was starting and finishing my physics degree - now 11 years later i have done it. But this goal was very expensive compared to the feeling as i got my degree. And what is my "lessons learned" from the past 11 years? Be kind and gentle, take your time for your loved ones and always tell them how much they are worth for you, how much you love them.
In fact, that is all that matters. Greetings from a physicist
