    Wastegate rattle is heard at idle while stationary when the wastegates are wide open (no vacuum applied to the pneumatic wastegate actuators). You should be able to get 100,000+ miles out of the stock turbos, even if they have been tuned.
    Leaky direct injectors are the #1 issue with the N54 engine. These lead to multiple issues that may not throw a fault code. They are also eye-wateringly expensive and commonly lead to economically writing-off of lower BMW models with the N54. Look out for long crank on start (a healthy N54 should fire up *immediately*), excessive soot from the exhaust (leaking injectors lead to one of more cyls running rich, while the others run lean). A slightly rough idle can also be an indicator (the N54 should be butter smooth on idle), but rough idle can also be plugs, coils, or even old fuel.
    The other common issue with N54's is a faulty valve cover. They are made from plastic and integrate two oil separators and the PCV system. The gasket is prone to leaks, but the valve cover itself is prone to developing hairline fractures, and the oil separators are prone to gunking up.

      Here is the document showcasing the options, I am unsure how the colours change the pricing, I believe the Orange ones carry a premium if the condition of the car is equal, but individual car service records and conditions likely effect the price more.

    Massive BMW fan and serial owner, and ...... never liked these at all.
    Ugly cars, not a proper M car and should never have been given the M title.
    Thankfully they went on to make the M2C which is a beautiful proper M car.

      The m2 is literally identical as the 1m with a n55 motor…. Funny everyone holds the opinion opposite of you 😂and your comment disproving itself at the same time

      @@Norcalmotormedia I have edited my comment, as I meant to type M2C, not M2.
      Although, the M2 is a beautiful car (just has an average engine, not special enough to be a real M car engine).
      To be honest, I couldn't care if my opinion is different to everyone else in the whole world. This is TH-cam, where comments are allowed, and as such, I am perfectly entitled to my opinion and to post it.
      So it's not 'funny' that many others have a different opinion, because opinions are just that, and we have different ones.
      Not sure your laughing smiley faces add anything to your 'point', apart from making you look like a child. The 'more for the rest of us' comment, is quite 'funny', because with all of your childish smileys you sound about 12 and could never afford one.
      I myself would never buy one, even if |i could afford one. I am currently saving for a used M2C though, trying to keep the mileage down on my M140i so I can trade it in.
      The M2C is a beautiful car with a fantastic engine.
      In fact, the B58 in my M140i is a much better engine than the crappy N55.

      There are no videos on your channel at all, and if you had a nice car you would have a video of it.
      Plenty on my channel of my m140i son .....
