It’s crazy how this episode makes you expect the whole “screw up defies everyone’s expectations and saves the day” trope and then does the complete opposite
RIGHT! I mean when Powder connected the dots for what the blue orb things did, I DID expect the worst but then i for a minute forgot this wasnt a disney show and expected a miracle...
Screw-up screws everything up, who would’ve thought? But really, we all did think she was gonna save the day and Arcane just showed us the logical conclusion.
powder has ptsd and abandonment issues from seeing her mother die and she cares a lot about what vi thinks, so hearing from her that she's not ready and feeling abandoned affected her enough to the point of a mental breakdown, that's why that scene seemed like a little much. that's also another reason why that last scene hits so hard
She's also a bit mentally unstable, but I think in a "predispostion" to develop issues kinda thing due to panic mostly. If people noticed in time and made the efforts necessary it could probably be prevented, but characters and audience alike just consider it being part of her still being a child in scary situations. Even before the breakdown this episode we see scenes and get hints that she's always going through a panicked state, this was mostly the last straw.
Powder wasn't ok even before her parents were killed. Go back and watch that scene again. Remember, Arcane doesn't waste a frame. She doesn't react much to her parents dying, and mostly only reacts to Violet getting upset. There are serious red flags of a young psychopath who has picked someone to mimic because she doesn't really know how she is supposed to feel. What Powder became was always in her, even before the war and loss. Trauma unleashed and exacerbated it, but it wasn't the origin of what she becomes... this was always inside her, waiting.
No, Powder is not ok as far as mental health goes. She has severe anxiety issues in regards to attachment, loss, and inadequacies. So telling her she's not ready (not good enough) and leaving her behind was beyond traumatizing for her. She's an extraordinarily tragic character
It is interesting that a lot of people don't pick up on it immediately. Considering she watched a civil war massacre. On top of that she saw her dead parents at the battlefield.
It's not just abandonment issues and separation anxiety at that. She actually perceives reality in a different way with visions and voices. Probably schizophrenia but can't say for sure.
@@govind.m86 Powder's mental illness called "Borderline personality disorder", but at this point in the story it's not that severe, so it's pretty easy to overlook it.
I believe she has a mix of some sort of anxiety disorder because of her Schizophrenia, and she likely has some sort of PTSD, probably Complex Post Traumatic Disorder (which is different from normal PTSD due to the fact that the trauma is heavily mixed with normal memories.) I say this because with the way Vi left her, Powder’s memories are tainted now and Mylo’s bullying now caused her Schizophrenia use his voice which is probably constantly triggering her PTSD in some way.
As sad as it is I think the people that DON'T pick it up are people that never went through shit as kids. Everyone I talk to that is really understanding and empathetic with powder has experienced trauma as a kid. I think it's why the show speaks to some people so much.
Aege at 0:30 “I’m drawing the line here, this is the last one I’m watching today.” Aege at 35:40 “Well maybe just one more-“ Sméagol “I CAN PUT DOWN THIS RING ANY TIME I WANT”
So, Powder has severe abandonment disorder. It's why she can't handle being left alone while her family goes to a very dangerous mission, and it's why she lunges herself at Silco (who she doesn't know actually was the one who cause all of this). She just needs SOMEONE to attach to, and Vi has been that person ever since their parents died.
There is no abandonment disorder. There are abandonment issues. There is also a borderline disorder of which her character could be diagnosed if she were a little bit older
@@goldak6423 Why do you think she has borderline, at this particular point in the story? I mean, to me, her breakdown seems like a normal reaction to finding out your family could die on this rescue mission and there might not be anything you could do about it
@@mangalegends Well she has quite unstable mood with clear attachment issues. She's impulsive both in her behavior and her feelings. She acts without consideration of consequences. But I'm really not sure if she has it. My comment was mainly about absence of "abandonment disorder" as a thing. In my opinion if she could be diagnosed at this stage it would be impulsive type of borderline. Or unspecified PD which is more consistent with the current diagnostic criteria which got rid of the division in personality disorders in favor of severity levels.
Man.. that "It's okay." from Silco is so powerful to me. His tone was so soft and kind that it completely changed my understanding of the character. That line had a really soothing effect on me as a viewer after all that tragedy that was just shown, despite it coming from the man that is responsible. I feel like that makes it really easy for me to sympathize with Powder and understand her choise to hug Silco.
Spoiler--- That line, "it's ok" never worked because it was never ok. Six episodes later someone else tells her "it's ok" when it isn't, and she hears it and knows it is a lie, just like it always is.
The facial animations paired with the voice acting in this show are something else. Also really cool how you caught the similarities between Silco and Vander's situation with what just happened with Vi and Powder before they pretty much "confirm" it with that hug.
Remember how the opening scene went in ep 1? Powder was singing with her eyes covered, disassociating from all the horror going on. And only Vi broke down into tears seeing their parents, while Powder hugged/latched onto her. So yeah shes had issues before her outburst. As both are tied to abandonedment in high stress/dangerous situations.
@@Xarazel If you you really think so, I recommend to check this analysis of Powder and her mental issues by professional therapist - th-cam.com/video/jllmfRcol0c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=GeorgiaDow
Powder was like 3-4 years old when her parents died. She looked up to Vi because she didn't know what she was seeing, so she was looking to her elders to understand what was going on. Like small children do.
I think people who just watch the show can catch it too, it plays a part in a sub plot which is very visible and comes to a resolution of sorts in ep 9.
My understanding is that when characters are fully formed get their eye color, until then its grey, with hints sometimes, like the purple eyes of powder in that scene.
Holy shit props to you for noticing the Vander/Vi and Silco/Jinx parallel before Jinx even hugged Silco. The parallel of Vander/Vi grabbing Silco/Jinx's face didn't even hit me until I rewatched the show.
The blood on Vi's hands: First it was Powder's blood that came from her nose. Then she looked at her bloodied and bruised knuckles and remembered what Vander told her in episode 1 when Vander showed Vi her bruised knuckles: "This (violence) does not solve anything". She walked away to cool off or else she'd resort to violence again when dealing with Powder not knowing it will be the last time she'll be seeing her as she is.
I couldn’t blame anyone in this scenario honestly, I understand where they all were coming from even tho huge mistakes were definitely made and now they have to suffer the consequences
Yeah, she was a bit unstable since the beginning, the trigger factor being related to panic (even before episode 1 as we hear Vi talk about later on). But she was still all there until this episode.
I don't think PTSD is the right term here (at least, not yet anyway). What she experienced here can best be described as a panic attack and/or a mental breakdown. It's related to her abandonment/attachment issues steming from her DPD (Dependent Personality Disorder) which she exhibits from the very beginning in episode 1.
@@EthanBalkfield as someone with both ptsd and anxiety, that was ptsd brought on by a panic attack. You can tell by the art style and the scribbles. Powder has had ptsd from literally scene 1.
The way I see it, Powder screaming, crying and hitting herself is a depiction of a child having a panic attack. I've seen kids hurting themselves very badly when they're in that mental state. Powder has abandonment issues, so being left alone by the gang was a big deal for her. Same with the Silco situation. Powder was left alone and vulnerable, she had nowhere to go. No wonder she would side with anyone that showed a bit of empathy for her. Kinda interesting that, from Silco's perspective, there's nothing to gain from taking her. Looks like he just empathized with her.
Your face and 'I hate it here' is felt, my friend. That was all of us losing our shit during this episode. I legit had to quit watching for like a week to get over it. It is ROUGH.
It's fucked them all up. Look at everyone's responses to their situations. No one from Zaun's side has any rational response to any situation except for Ekko, sometimes. Up in Piltover they're maybe 50/50. They have relatable responses, but not at all rational ones. Living in the environment of Zaun is intrinsically damaging both physiologically, and psychologically. And it's Piltover's fault.
Her eyes are like gray or blue but they're red from crying... and also they play it a little loose to just show their emotional state or character arcs. The red eyes is kind of like... foreshadowing. Late in the show you can also see vi's eyes go from gray to blue at a key time when her character kind of becomes who she is in the video game. And no powder isn't all there... she's got issues. You'll see more of how they use sketchy marks like drawings that show how she sees the world and you can actually see it a little in the first scene of episode 1, on the bridge. Kinda showing she's never totally had the best grasp on reality.
This was the first moment capture the human side of Silco. The empathy for the abandonment that Powder is suffering is self-reflected on his own when Vander abandoned him. Silco took Powder in beside the factor that he'll have an extra pawn in the future, but also purely because he understood what she was going through and simply want to shield her from it.
It was nice (in context obviously) to see child death portrayed in a way like this. Not for cheap shock value. I mean it was shocking. But for narrative reasons
About Powder's freakout when she was left behind... you have to remember that her mom and dad went off and left her behind with her sister, and they NEVER CAME BACK. So here she is again, a few years later, being raised by Vander and her sister, and all of a sudden, Vander is gone and her sister is going after him, and leaving her behind, just like her parents did (and look what happened to them). She's stuck back in the hideout. She doesn't know what is happening. She doesn't know what Vi and Vander are up against. She can't do anything. All she can think is that she's about to lose her family AGAIN. All of the imagined worst-case scenarios in this situation are destroying her. It's not that she's crazy. It's just that she's reacting with the only information she has at her disposal - which is that when loved ones leave, sometimes they don't come back. You think she's insane in this scene, but really, she has a sane response to insane circumstances.
Powder has abandonment issues. Part of why she would follow the group anywhere they go, even if she is scared or unsure. Probably from losing her parents at such a young age, then later being left behind by Vi when they went to rescue vander. Then again she just snapped when Vi abandons her at the end (she had no way to know what happened to Vi, just that she left her for good this time). You can hear it in her voice "Why did you leave me?" ... then immediately latches onto the first person she sees rather then be alone.
Powder has always been mentally unstable and she relies on Vi alot and only cares about what her sister thinks of her. If she thinks Vi thinks she is a burden that is the worst for Powder. Long story short she has attachment issues and when Vi "abandoned" her she didnt care amd just wanted to hug anyone and Silco happened to be that anyone. Silco def saw himself in Powder which is why he decided to take her in
I'd say its more that she cares alot of what people thinks of her and Vi is somebody thats just higher on the list. I think what as the it goes on into arc 2 you could def. see proof of how much she did at the age from the imagery (avoiding spoilers).
@@JesusPerez-pe8vk Nah, I don't think she cared about what others think nearly as much. Milo could say a lot of stuff and she'd just make a face. Vander's disaproval after the heist didn't seem to influence her more than the others either. It was Vi not believing in her that always brought a strong reaction. Makes sense. After the parents died, it seems she got super attached to Vi and sees her as a parental figure an a role model.
@@Evija3000 but it's Milo with his words the ghost who hunt her in the future, not Vi's or anyone else's. I think that Powder only cared about Vi's thoughts on the surface, but deep down everything everyone says about her just comes together to form this unworthy and useless image she has about herself.
there is so much i have to say about this show it's overwhelming man. please keep this reactions going i love youre commentary. also about Powder's behaviour NO SPOILERS - yup she has many signs of some kind of mental disorder at a young age which combined with the trauma of being a war orphan and living in the Undercity couldnt end well. her eyes besides being awsome detail for people familiar with her game design are used here as a story telling devise i guess. normally theyre greyish blue, when she gets intrigued by the cristal they reflect the glow and seem more blue and when she cries, her eyes get bloodshot and seem kinda pinkish purple. btw i know i commented this before but please react to the intro in episode 4 its freakin perfect
Regarding your points/questions about Powder: Her eyes do kinda change color, but that's more of an artistic touch. It DOES have implications, though, so good catch. Keep that in mind for later. Is she all there? Not really. Remember, she and Vi lost their parents when they were very young. Not only that, they were navigating a battlefield and seeing all that violence and carnage when it happened. It traumatized both of them. Vi became a fighter who solves things with her fists. Powder developed extreme attachment and abandonment issues. It can also be assumed that she developed an inferiority complex over the years, never being able to live up to her sister and always being bullied by Mylo. Vi was always helping encourage her, as we saw on the roof in the first episode when she told her she was ready. However, when Vi said "you're not ready" to help save Vander, she took that as validation of her inferiority. When she was left alone, she was dealing with severe abandonment issues on top of feeling useless. AND her sister and adoptive brothers were going on a potentially deadly mission to rescue their adoptive father, where they could all die. So yes, she was freaking out a bit. Later, after Vander died and Powder approached, Vi lashed out in anger because that's all she knows how to do. But she realized what she had done when she saw Powder's blood on her hand, and made the decision to walk away to cool off and grieve by herself so she wouldn't risk hurting Powder anymore. Of course Powder, having those abandonment and attachment issues, NEEDED Vi to be with her during this incredibly traumatic experience. She couldn't see Vi sitting just inside the tunnel. So when Vi was taken and never came back, it really did seem to Powder that Vi just abandoned her... Right after the rest of their family was killed BY HER OWN HANDS. That's gonna fuck up anyone, but especially a little kid who already has enough trauma and issues like Powder.
powder clearly has some extreme attachment issues, most likely trauma from the first episode and vi being basically her safe space. being told by vi that she wasn't ready really messed her up and silco was basically the closest thing to attach to.
I love you pointed out the visual symmetry with the POV shots of Vander choking Silco and vi grabbing powder’s face. Earlier when Vi is saying goodbye to powder before leaving to rescue vander, she leans in to hug her and presses her forehead to powder’s. That visual is recreated when Vander stops choking Silco, and he slumps forward, leaning down on Silco and pressing his forehead against Silco’s. Everyone is so blown away by the visual storytelling accomplished in Arcane and it’s.moments like these two visual parallels that show such care and craft.
Wanna have your mind really blown? Watch Silco's monolog, which everyone seems to run their GD mouth over BTW, at the beginning of the EP then watch the explosion sequence. Then watch when Powder reimeriges near the end. There's peace in water.
Its subtle but all kid characters eyes are grey showing that they are young and a blank slate. Blue reflection in Powders eyes shows and inquisitive nature and Purple shows a breaking mental state. The more bright the eye color the more set in their ways they are. Especially with the first 3 episodes they played with the eye colors of powder a lot for very good thought out reasons.
With truly grey eyes it's common for them to appear different colors based on what they are reflecting. Also, with her parents death she developed severe abandonment issues which was why she was freaking out when left behind and why Silco who feels abandoned by Vander related so well with her and took her in.
Powder was having a full-on panic attack, brought on by abandonment issues and overwhelming issues of helplessness and lack of self-worth. We know she's mechanical and a great shot, but neither of those things are of real use in her immediate surroundings, and she feels like dead weight. Now, when things have got serious, she's being left alone, maybe forever if Vi dies, and she can't do anything because she's not good enough.
There are so many incredible little moments in this show. When Vi enters the kids’ hideout, Powder rushes up to her and embraces her with incredible relief. In this moment, Vi realizes Powder is so relieved to see her b/c Powder figured out her plan to give herself up and then told Vander, which is why (in Vi’s mind anyway) things went sideways. One more instance of Vi trying not to think Powder is a jinx.
haha, seeing you love Silco from the 1st Act makes me wants to see you binge the whole show already. Silco in act 1 actually so much better if you've already watched the whole show, I love him.
Powder's eyes are blue-grey. Between those 2 colors it's a matter of lighting. The purple eye at the end of the episode was foreshadowing, and I'll leave it at that.
No tv episode has left me feeling so speechless and in awe of the quality of storytelling since the red wedding, and with all the potential material for future seasons this show will do what GoT did for the fantasy genre, a show that is genuinely this good will only ever grow in love and support imo
The camera moving away from Powder down the tunnel Vi was taken, while the lyrics go “How could I have ever let you down?”, is tough to not get emotional for.
Can we get a reaction to "enemy" music video? Would love to see your face when JID goes off. And for animation sake, Lol put out a new cinematic "the call" with some hyper realistic moments. And when Vi looked at her hand after hitting Powder, she remembered what Vander told her. Something like "these dont solve your problems, just makes more of them"
im so glad i can binge all 9 reactions!! i love your stuff bro!! you got a keen eye and its nice to see a dude actually connect with the characters and feel with them.. most dudes put up a front, turn to iron and it kinda ruins the reaction.. dudes feel too!! what me? this shit choked me right up lol
The changes in eye color is used to show both maturation of characters as well as foreshadowing future events within season 1 of arcane, good thing to notice (and nice catch!) but it's more interesting to think about once you've finished all episodes :)
30:32 Eyecolor is specifically done this way in this series. Nearly every character that has not yet established their place in life (fully reached their potential) has grayed out eyes. Violet and Powder both have blue eyes normally. And every time Powder came closer to her chaos affinity and started to chip away in becoming what she would later be, her eyes sparked to life with her natural blue color. The purple is a hint to later things :D
two more things that i noticed: mylo staring as the pole as it stood sticking out from his body will always break me. he may not have been the nicest but that was so brutal how he realized his life was coming to such an end i dont think powder's eyes were necessarily changing fully to purple, i think it was just because her eyes were bloodshot from crying so much. we know blue + red = purple so maybe that why they appeared that wasy (plus for visual effects)
You could say that Powder helped... at the very beginning. Her monkey toy distracted the enemy and gave them a few extra moments for Milo and Clagger to finish their tasks - maybe it would have been enough time to help them get out as well. If she hadn't added the crystals, then she might have actually, genuinely helped through her own skill (she built the monkey herself), no explosives needed.
Characters with pale eyes, their eyes “change” color based on the ambient light. So Powder’s light blue eyes look purple in the reflected color of the fire
The final shot of Powder`s eyes twisted from grief and anger into Jinx`s Shimmer-infused eyes was based on "The Fallen Angel" Renaissance painting by Frenchman Alexandre Cabernel depicting Lucifer`s fall from grace. Incidentally, the animation studio that does this series Fortiche is also based in France and Piltover is based on a steampunk version of Paris whereas in the games Piltover still has a steampunk aesthetic but it`s much more fantastical and removed from reality much like the games in general.
"Did she fuck shit up?" Milo was right she is a jinx. Everything was going well but she is bad luck, very tragic. I love this series, thank you for reacting.
I'm excited to watch this series with you! Found your channel through your Ep 1 reaction and joined it to see this early. I also was hyped to see you reacted to ATLA and TLOK is in progress - my all time favorite series so you know I'll be checking out those playlists. Some notes based on your commentary: - Powder has issues with abandonment and feeling unworthy. Her mental instability in this episode will be built on as you have probably already watched. - When Vi looks at her fist after punching Powder, I interpreted it as Vi recalling Vander's lesson earlier in the show about violence not being the way. She realizes she is too emotional to be around Powder which is why she steps away. Unfortunately we all know that left the door open for Silco to step in... - You are spot on with the theme of duality. Once you finish the season, check out SavageBooks video about Arcane which delves into the duality. It's a great video essay: th-cam.com/video/RmH0ulyxTHc/w-d-xo.html
32:20 - TLDR: She is so mentally unstable that she can, and will, hurt herself physically. Medically speaking, Powder is not well. As in, the trauma of having seen her parents dead, beng told she's worthless, and pressure to perform has caused her so much emotional distress, that it's caused her to be mentally unstable forming deep abandonment issues. Not super spoiler for the show, but if her abandonment issues aren't properly treated she can form a Borderline Personality Disorder (deep insecurity of the self that leads to severe separation anxiety which leads to how you treat yourself and others. I tried to condense it, so please take what I say with a grain of salt). Which can lead to how she treats other characters in the series.
I want you to know that I have been binging Arcane reaction vids from multiple TH-camrs, and I tend to start with watching Ep3 reactions (because watching people’s emotional whiplash to the final few minutes is incredible and a good judge of whether I will enjoy their content), usually followed by their Ep9 reactions. But the sure fire way to get me to watch someone’s reaction to the series as a whole? Is if I see them simp for Mel in Ep 3. Then I HAVE to go back to watch their reaction to her introduction and every scene she’s in thereafter. You, sir, have proven to have impeccable taste and the thumbnail/title for your Ep2 reaction is already quite promising.
The eyes of Powder change depending on her personality. Whenever she is Powder she will have gray eyes. But... her eyes changes when she is Jinx. Also they change whenever they reflect on the magic stones. When she is Jinx she´ll have blue eyes, you´ll notice later on. That´s my point of view though.
2 minutes and already a better reaction channel then 90% of what i see on TH-cam in the same category, actual summaries, transformative content focus actually giving commentary.
You can always tell when people have never seen or experienced a full panic attack before especially for someone with severe abandonment issues or past trauma like losing their parents.
Easiest subscription I’ve ever given. I have NEVER in my life laughed so hard out loud at a video like this before. You are HILARIOUS. Please never stop making videos
I heard a great analysis that the kids' eyes are grey because they haven't fully formed yet, like the stone that they are chiseled out of in the intro. And bro, that wasn't a temper tantrum- it was a panic attack. Calling it a temper tantrum is pretty reductive and really ignores the childhood trauma and vulnerability that they are faithfully portraying so well. She's not upset Vi isn't getting her favorite cereal in the grocery store- she's panicking that she's about to lose her family *again*, which is a very real possibility in her world.
Powder has abandonment issues, thats why she seeks for validation and is very clingy to Vi and after what happened at the ep1 intro probably ptsd and cannot deal with violence (as seen in the slo-mo scene). Her eyes being purple at the end is simply from heavy crying, but for league fans its an easter egg
I was laughing so hard when you said maybe the monkey bomb stabilizing it too, like the whole contrast with the previous scene was to show how much intricacy controlling that thing required and Powder out here bashing it with metal spikes lmao
those are colors from the reflectiono of the environment , also yes, it's a metaphor for mer mental changes, but later on it's not just that, you'll understand when you reach there.
powder is just a lil kid constantly living in her big sisters shadow. Constanly failing and people around keep reminding her that. Plus she has no one close to her except fir vi. So Whenever vi tells her to go away, it cuts deep for her. That's why she has crazy mental breakdowns. And for that matter they've always been through some traumatic shit and certain situations bring them down in worst ways.
Vi and Jinx have gray eyes in the first episodes. Its a visual way to show how they are not fully developed yet. Fortiche studio is doing a excellent job at animating this series
georgia dow has some nice analysis videos about arcane characters from a psychologist perspective. she explains that powder has a full blown panic attack. it threw me off at first too, but if you think about it, it's just a natural reaction. she just got told, that her father got kidnapped and benzo got killed. now her siblings are going to fight what ever was able to beat vander! the big man that you possible thought is untouchable. also she saw what violence can do on the bridge in the first episode and now she has to sit at home with all the images in her head of dead people (hence the beating of her head?) and is completley helpless. after she realises that she can help with the hex crystals her panic attack is gone in an instant.
This is the episode I was waiting on for you. If this wasn't it then it wasn't gonna be. Best show of the year. This and the new spiderman and Witcher season 2. Getting blessed this month.

I loved it from the first scene in episode 1...but that little line convinced me that this show is a real one
Spoiler---
That line, "it's ok" never worked because it was never ok.
And that she has issues you can see in the way that her crayon visions are already there in that opening scene.
huh thats a good point...i always felt Powders freak out kinda came out of nowhere
@@Xarazel If you you really think so, I recommend to check this analysis of Powder and her mental issues by professional therapist - th-cam.com/video/jllmfRcol0c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=GeorgiaDow
@@Xarazel Look up on Borderline personality disorder. It'll give you a new insight on Powder/Jinx and she'll suddenly make much more sense
Powder was like 3-4 years old when her parents died. She looked up to Vi because she didn't know what she was seeing, so she was looking to her elders to understand what was going on. Like small children do.
Powders eyes changing is just foreshadowing that only people who play league would understand so dont worry about it.
I think people who just watch the show can catch it too, it plays a part in a sub plot which is very visible and comes to a resolution of sorts in ep 9.
And the in universe explanation here is they are just irritated and swelled from crying plus whatever smoke is in the air.
Her eye is in reference to Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel, a painting which depicts lucifer after he was betrayed by God
The eyes symbolizes character development, you can see it in a bunch of characters in the show after an iconic scene for theme has taken place
My understanding is that when characters are fully formed get their eye color, until then its grey, with hints sometimes, like the purple eyes of powder in that scene.
Every time I see the scene of Powder crying I always tear up. The voice actress does so well to put all of herself into it.
"can yall give me a second to breathe?" I love that line lol
Holy shit props to you for noticing the Vander/Vi and Silco/Jinx parallel before Jinx even hugged Silco. The parallel of Vander/Vi grabbing Silco/Jinx's face didn't even hit me until I rewatched the show.
I didn’t get it until rewatch either
The blood on Vi's hands: First it was Powder's blood that came from her nose. Then she looked at her bloodied and bruised knuckles and remembered what Vander told her in episode 1 when Vander showed Vi her bruised knuckles: "This (violence) does not solve anything". She walked away to cool off or else she'd resort to violence again when dealing with Powder not knowing it will be the last time she'll be seeing her as she is.
I couldn’t blame anyone in this scenario honestly, I understand where they all were coming from even tho huge mistakes were definitely made and now they have to suffer the consequences
Powder is all there, but she is not mentally healthy even in episode 1. But at the same time she was having a ptsd response to being abandoned.
Yes you're right about Powder. She's been through A LOT from a very young age, and it fucked her up.
@@DoremiFasolatido1979 is it if you are poor is it all rich mans fault?
Her eyes are like gray or blue but they're red from crying... and also they play it a little loose to just show their emotional state or character arcs. The red eyes is kind of like... foreshadowing. Late in the show you can also see vi's eyes go from gray to blue at a key time when her character kind of becomes who she is in the video game.
And no powder isn't all there... she's got issues. You'll see more of how they use sketchy marks like drawings that show how she sees the world and you can actually see it a little in the first scene of episode 1, on the bridge. Kinda showing she's never totally had the best grasp on reality.
Also it was released in 3 episode chunks. Ep1-3 was act 1. That's why it feels like a finale.
If "damn that was pain" was an episode lol
I just knew aege would be asking for mel’s OF lmao
lol don't do me like this, I'm not that predictable.....🤔
Regarding your points/questions about Powder:
Her eyes do kinda change color, but that's more of an artistic touch.
Aege: "Good work!"
Also Aege: "I said 'Good work' like...three seconds ago. I retract that, bro."

Bros eyes were bout to pop out his head
Whoever doesnt cut the last song from the video has my respect ;) Teary eyes also help . Glad u`re back with the Arcane videos !!
the way I have waited for this reaction bro, covid really got timing
haha, seeing you love Silco from the 1st Act makes me wants to see you binge the whole show already. Silco in act 1 actually so much better if you've already watched the whole show, I love him.
Powder's eyes are blue-grey. Between those 2 colors it's a matter of lighting. The purple eye at the end of the episode was foreshadowing, and I'll leave it at that.
This is one of those rare 10/10 episodes that I have absolutely no notes on. Harrowing, shattering, perfect.
I've seen this episode many times and it still brings such PAIN.
No tv episode has left me feeling so speechless and in awe of the quality of storytelling since the red wedding, and with all the potential material for future seasons this show will do what GoT did for the fantasy genre, a show that is genuinely this good will only ever grow in love and support imo
I love that you appreciate the music in a significant way. Keep up the good work.
You can absolutely blame Marcus! Not enough people put the blame on Silco or Marcus!
If you go back to the start of episode one, we see some shots from powder's perspective. Her mental healths been foreshadowed since then
two more things that i noticed:
mylo staring as the pole as it stood sticking out from his body will always break me. he may not have been the nicest but that was so brutal how he realized his life was coming to such an end
i dont think powder's eyes were necessarily changing fully to purple, i think it was just because her eyes were bloodshot from crying so much. we know blue + red = purple so maybe that why they appeared that wasy (plus for visual effects)
Been so excited for this upload! After watching this episode I was like, I get it now, I get the hype. Chills man
so with the eyes. when color starts to show in their eyes, it happens in moments that their character develops. it happens throughout the series.
I think I can confidently say this is the best inciting incident I've seen in fiction.
Powder's changing eyes are foreshadowing mixed with a little bit of metaphoric change linking to Silco's eye. That's all I'm going to say.
Her eyes were bloodshot from grief and the purplish-pink glow foreshadowed the Shimmer infusion she`d undergo later.
Some notes based on your commentary:
- Powder has issues with abandonment and feeling unworthy.
Eyy welcome to the comunity ^^
@@DecemberDaydreams thanks!
The look powder gives through Silco's arm at the end mirrors Vi's from the end of the prologue episode 1.
Irrationally happy this got posted.
The thing about this show is that it was released in 3 episode batches so this episode was the finale of act1
Jeez your voice is so calming
"I know where this is going" ah yes, famous last words
I was laughing so hard when you said maybe the monkey bomb stabilizing it too, like the whole contrast with the previous scene was to show how much intricacy controlling that thing required and Powder out here bashing it with metal spikes lmao
Powder's eyes is foreshadowing of the birth of jinx, especially the purple eye was considered to be part of her look in the game

powder is just a lil kid constantly living in her big sisters shadow.
Glad to have you back! Hope you're feeling recovered from the COVID
aight watched it real quick now that I have time so that I can see the reaction, all I can say is that I'm hyped for his reaction on episode 7
Powder is traumatized since her parents were killed. She has intense abandonment issues
