Hi, Emlyn. Great video. Thanks, Man. I personally do like the solid build of the SE Gemini 2. I once watched someone perform with it. Quality product. Shame it's not in my price range. Same time. How it sounded. It's worth it and more compared with may other mikes in it's price range.

Thanks for the feedback Elijah. Good to hear. I ended up getting the sE RNT which is incredible, I would still love to have a Gemini 2 in my collection as it really does have its on quality of sound!

I have the Gemini III - which is the Anniversary Limited Edition of the G-II. Awesome studio mic with a few additional features. I also have the 2200 & an X-S1 which are regular work-horses for all the artists I work with. The G-III is my personal go-to though, it's definitely on a par with the Telefunkens, Neumanns, Lautens and pretty much any other High-end Studio Mics out there. SE Electronics makes great mic gear and they're a very underrated brand that deserves more exposure. Their Reflexion Filters are top-notch, too!

I ended up getting the big mother beast one the RNT and I've dropped the PSU several times and it's fine it's built like a tank. Not sure on the G2 if they changed it in an update?

I'm a real fan of the sE microphones.. I love my Gemini II and Z5600a II, haven't got an sE 4400a, but I do have a Titan, a few X1 variants (X1-R, X1, X1-S, X1-D), two Z3300a microphones, an sE 2000 and several sE 2200 variants (sE 2200a, sE 2200a II MP, sE 2200). My favourites are the sE z5600a II and z3300a. In some cases I use the Gemini II. My daily use microphone for voice-over work is the sE 2200a. It all depends on the situation.

Cool! Yea the sE 4400a is a nice all rounder I'm finding. Perfect for podcasting as well.

The 5600 is identical to the house brand of tube mics from German (and the world's largest online) audio retailer Thomann, specifically the Tbone SCT800 if I recall correctly. They were both produced by the same factory (Feilo, high end OEM) in China by ex-Sennheiser engineers. There are rumours that the designer of some of the early Rode and Warm Audio capsules had some experience at that factory though I am unsure how true they are given that he is more often described as an aerospace engineer. His personal line of microphones (3U Audio) are some of the most insane value for money on the market and are made to his specifications at that same factory from most accounts.
The 4400a is a very interesting microphone being that is is an attempt to emulate an AKG C414 B-XLS but is using a center terminated capsule for some reason. At a similar price range I might suggest taking a look at the Advanced Audio CM414, ADK Vienna line or some of the aforementioned 3U Audio Warbler models. I have also heard good things about the Warm Audio and Lewitt takes on the 414. The 3U CM1 Teal is also an excellent mic to take a look at though much cheaper and not specifically an ADK clone / copy / flavoured microphone.

Cool thanks for your expertise and knowledge in microphones. I honestly think that sE are fairly underrated as a brand, there is definitely some copying going on in terms of design as far as Musical and Audio Technology companies are concerned. For example, it seems to be a mutual agreed upon thing that a Podcast Mic must look and be a certain way etc. If I compare sE to Rode or Shure I would say they are much better value and sound, but that's as far as my comparing knowledge goes, so you my friend may have a far better grasp when it comes to comparison. That said it's all subjective as well in terms of the sound you desire for your music you're creating. I ended up purchasing the RNT - Rupert Neve sE collaboration microphone and it's really out there in terms of sound with a Tube Pre and all, it's so hilarious it makes me sound like Frank Sinatra when I sing into it. But that is a cool thing and you gotta give sE kudos for thinking outside of the box instead of just been a copy and paste company. I think the fact Rupert Neve chose them to collaborate with says a lot. He saw a company that was hand crafting their microphones so there is definitely some good workmanship happening at sE I believe.

Hey there!! You’re welcome! I haven’t had the pleasure of testing the Telefunken. However if you can shell out a bit more I would recommend Rupert Neves collab with sE and get the RNR1 that has a gorgeous sound.

Oh man, I did one and the video just didn't turn out good, I recorded them too hot so you didn't even get to hear how awesome they sounded and I had to return the mics the next day. All I have to say is that the RNT and Gemini II mics sound ridiculously good. I'm going to get the RNT it makes your vocals sound like silk! lol.

@@EmlynInTheMix Thanks for that feedback. The RNT is insanely expensive and wonder how it sounds compared to the Neumann U67 reissue, sorta same price range! The Gemini II looks ridiculously huge in my opinion. And no idea why those mic cases have to be so huge as well. Jeez!
