- This is a fuller video of the encounter with the armored trucks yesterday in Baclaran.
- Why don't the MMDA arrest the driver?
MMDA Enforcers don't have police powers. They cannot arrest a driver.
- Why don't the MMDA call the Police?
They've done this in the past. The Police arrived, asked the driver to give their license and that was the end of it. But usually, the drivers give in before the Police even arrive.
- Why not tow the vehicle?
Armored trucks are too heavy. A regular tow truck cannot lift it and a flatbed will not be able to pull it if the driver applies the brake.
- What can the MMDA do?
They can block the truck using their bodies, motorcycles, patrol car and tow trucks, so it cannot leave.
Eventually the driver will realize he has no choice but to comply.
They can add extra penalties like arrogant driver or reckless driving, depending on the circumstances. This can result in the driver having to attend a seminar.
They can request LTO to suspend or revoke the drivers license, depending on the circumstances.
1) There's no money or valuables inside at the time
2) The vehicles are just sitting blocking the road. They're not in transit
3) The drivers aren't in uniform
4) There's multiple marked vehicles and uniformed MMDA
5) There's an AFP truck loaded with soldiers
6) They don't have to open the door, there's a flap where they can pass their license - บันเทิง
Refusing to hand over drivers license means obstructing the law
Refusing to show and surrender your driver's license is OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE in North America and punishable by law.
I'm very curious, I always wanted to own an armored truck or APC in the Philippines but I know I can't afford the more expensive ones and these trucks look like it would fit my budget but idk if armortech (brand of the armored truck in the vid) actually sell their product directly to clients or just rent them out.

There should be new laws against arrogant, abusive, ignorant armoured vehicle drivers. They are a menace and regularly dont respect the rule of law.
Thats how big headed and arrogant these guys are. I was involved in a vehicular inccident with this company. What they did was run away even the inforcer is already their. They are very disrespectful and arrogant thinking they are above the law and everybody.

Armored van drivers are required to follow the same rules of the road as every other driver.
Go and talk to the guy that actually trains them, he will confirm that.
