    I love a relic. Did it to my Strat. Aged all the plastic parts like pickup covers etc with some sand paper and soaked them in coffee overnight, rusted some of the metal parts in salty water and dinged the body up with a claw hammer

      @hellosailoreffectsoffical You did a great job on the relic. It looks great and I love the one p-90 and one bucker with just the wrap tail. Also, the hello sailor makes it! If u dont mind me asking, where did u have it built? Shes a '54 replica with a bucker in the bridge and arch top inlays ? Super cool!

      I had a R7 which I had to sell to help move my family back home. I loved that guitar and miss it dearly but I also have a goldtop PRS which I've had since 2000 and is my favourite guitar. It's the last guitar I'd ever get rid of.
      Who made your goldtop Joe? The specs are spot on BTW. I'm a big fan of p90s in the neck and split parallelogram inlays are chefs kiss .

    G'day Joe,
    Being an Aussie, we have Vegimite, not Marmite. But that doesn't matter - I hate Vegimite, and I hate guitar relicing too. I prefer to keep my guitars looking as new as possible, for as long as possible. I know that a guitar will get knocked around, pickguards will get scratched & crack, paint will wear off, steel parts will rust, fretboards will develop grooves, and binding will crack & fall out. But I prefer that to happen over a life of playing them. Luckily for me, I am old enough to have a couple of guitars that have been worn from properly.
    That being said, I still enjoyed your video. Keep up the good work.
    Andrew
    BTW, how did you go with Living In The 70's?

      Thank you Andrew I really appreciate the response.
      I thought I may invoke more controversy WRT relic guitars but it appears people feel less strongly about it.
      I totally see your point with the ageing side of things. I was much the same at one point too.
      Ah yes Vegimite! We had that whilst deployed to the Pacific. Also not my kind of thing ha!

    I like how you do this but the real thing is always the best . What happens to your guitar on the road is unbelievable hahaha or the amps rolling down the road faster than your car hitting muds mostly and occasionally stone or house or even another car LOL

    Who built the guitar? I mean cut the body, carved the top, glued it all together etc ?

    • @hellosailoreffectsofficial
      @hellosailoreffectsofficial  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      A guy local to me built it in his flat. I chose all the wood etc. He even cloned my 1960 melody maker neck.
      If you contact Crater Guitars on Insta he builds for them.

    Critique not related to what you did in the video, the poker chip doesn't match the pickguard like it would on an original.
    About relic guitars in general, it has to be done right. I don't like how Fender just sands the entire neck for example

    • @hellosailoreffectsofficial
      @hellosailoreffectsofficial  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @MuscleCarLover Agreed mate, I have never owned a vintage guitar with a sanded neck.
      The pickguard came from Mojoaxe. It's definitely darker than I would like.

      @MuscleCarLover 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@hellosailoreffectsofficial Yeah, a lot of the "cheaper" relic jobs are very...not good. Yours is definitely a lot more believable. Did you happen to put bronze into the gold finish?

    • @hellosailoreffectsofficial
      @hellosailoreffectsofficial  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @MuscleCarLover Thank you, I really appreciate that, especially as i am a complete novice when it comes to ageing guitars. Im sure my life story video that goes live today will highlight just how novice i actually am ha! The paint came from Manchester Guitar Tech and he uses the same bronze flakes as Gibson did in the 50s.

      @@hellosailoreffectsofficial Niiiiiiice, it'll green over nicely then. And yeah, the trick to a realistic looking relic is definitely in using "tools" that would give an authentic mark. You definitely gave that a vibe of a rocker who wore it nice and low.
      I also like that you didn't go overboard, it looks like it was taken care of, but still used a good bit
