I had a great time in this one with Tfrank! Let me know what you guys think! Leave your thoughts on the Knowles hire in the comments below. Appreciate you guys tuning in! Love y’all!
Y'all should just do a weekly together and talk about schemes.
Start a series of talking about one game a from last season and breakdown what went well, what didn't and how will things change next season from each of that game etc.
Would be a fun 3 month journey 😅
Honestly people need to buy into Penn state football because James Franklin has built a sleeping giant that will melt faces for decades to come. 🫡 🦁
We definitely need to see more of you two guys together. It seems like you guys think similarly and get along really well. This show flows really well with you two guys.

Great show Landon. Its hard to say what dividends will pay iff with a new hire in their first year. It with the talent you have i feel you should be equal and hopefully better with Knowles. Ultimately the one thing holding Penn aSt back is the WR position. You need that elite receiver that focuses defenses on and will allow your awesome backs to wreak havoc. If you can get that you should be a HUGE factor in the playoffs once again. Peace brother✌️
First time listener…. Really enjoyed this convo and your pretension style! Very refreshing!!!
Thanks so much!
Deion Barnes won Big 10 freshman of the year if I recall. I thunk he would be #Elite but he ended up being the first to suffer the PSU sophomore jinx. Glad to see his talents carry over to coaching. I figured he was a "can't miss" player after that freshman campaign. Now he's building the legacy for himself.
I didn't realize T Frank has this kind of ball knowledge. Impressed.
Tfrank is a ball knower!!
You do a great job. Since you are using the English language as a vehicle for your podcast career, remember it’s “ have gone” not “have went “. Love your podcasts !!! From an ex-educator.
Great job! Thank you for the amazing PSU content
Thanks for the support Terrence
Please don't hesitate throwing shade at Sandy Barbour, who deserves every ounce of criticism, constructive or otherwise.
"All in." EXACTLY!
Top 5 definitely
I agree, the biggest takeaway is they are finally getting behind Franklin with financial support.
Tom Allen did a good job but seemed like he was still coaching at Indy, where he didn't totally trust his DBs where he could pin his ears back and send crazy pressure all the time like Manny did.
AS they explain here, we never got to see a true Tom Allen defense. Especially in the first year, his job was to build on what Manny Diaz had done and try to plug some of the weaknesses in the hyper-aggressive D. So you essentially got a man coverage blitzing defense but more sending 5 than sending 7 and trying to eliminate explosive plays. It worked pretty well but against the best opponents PSU had some secondary lapses that were really costly. Notre Dame scored 14 on secondary breakdowns and that was the game. That probably had nothing to do with Allen's defense, it was just injuries which led to PSU having to play some people who weren't ready to play at that level of competition. It always comes down to talent and depth.
@tomboyer5608 The breakdown vs ND was Cam Miller falling down. He should have never been in there. Also it was ridiculous to have Kobe King playing outside wide man corner on a few plays.
We are all in for 2025, but is there any concern it will take some time to implement his scheme? I feel like Kotelnicki needed some time, but maybe the offensive change was a little more drastic than the defensive change that is coming.
They will be a top 10 D again because that is their talent level. They won't be an Ohio State D because they don't have Ohio State level players -- at least not yet. That's easy to predict. If PSU stays reasonably healthy, they have the players to be a top 10 D and maybe close to top 5. The question is -- what about the 2 years after that? The question is whether Knowles can attract some Ohio State-level players -- presuming PSU can raise the money to pay them. That could lift PSU's defense to a higher level. But schemes alone won't do it.
Yall gotta remember. Abdul was a 4 star LB. Not DE in HS
Love the show. Why is college academics getting the way of our new professional college football league. It's only an amount of time until college athletics are just a way to collect money for college sports. PSU is already in the top 5 for highest tuition for state university in the country. I'm sure those season tickets will go up again. It is no longer a family activity to attend a game for the average person to bless his kids with
You can expect a confused and slow reacting defense because of a new complex scheme.
Is it September yet? 😭🤣
I feel that Aaron
Barnburner show, LT. T Frank always has great ball smarts.
Thank you!!! It’s so fun to do these t frank
That thumbnail!!
Hahah we are having fun with them. Glad you enjoy it, thanks for the support bro
Why was Kobe in coverage and not Royas in the ND game
Allen is a dumbass
Do you think PSU adjusts to Knowles defense in year 1 and does great or do you think it takes 3 years like it did at OSU?
Or a different level of talent? PSU has good players, but Ohio State has 5 Stats racked and stacked along every position group. How much of a difference will that make in time span to maximize PSU's defensive potential?
His defense is definitely a complex one, considering they run cover 1-4 all about 20% of the time at OSU. You basically have to be able to do everything, to play in Knowles defense. Should be fun
@LandonTengwall58 i look forward to seeing there defense and to the OSU game.
Great! Now let's go out and get some REAL LBs and make it happen. King Mack sounds like a Ray Isom!
More WRs
You use “went” when you should say “gone”
Not has went. But has gone you want to be a radio personality. Hit me up for free grammar lessons. Taught at Penn state 1984/5 “he could have went”. Gotta fix that. Ha ha. I you can teach me about football
Is anyone else concerned that a so-called academic institution is paying an assistant football coach twenty five times as much as its professors?
Definitely could say that’s an issue
Professors don’t generate $20M in revenue for the university.
Do intercollegiate sports generate any revenue "for the university"?
10:20 If PSU has a player who can play safety like OSU's Downs they should wear #11. GOOGLuck wit dat.
Arrington jr will wear it
PSU D was like 6th
It’s disheartening the way money is sloshing around college football. I understand it, and I’m not against it per se. It’s just a bummer to see it finally turn into minor league pro football. I think it will diminish the value of college football over time.
Yeah, we are going the minor league route… and America doesn’t like minor leagues lol
Ohio st sucks!!!
Drew Allar sucks if y’all truly want to win get rid of trash 🗑️ franklin and get a real head coach
Natty or bust
We still have James Franklin. Ive seen enough of him to have zero expectations that he should be a coach at this level. Under pressure he doesn’t seem able to think clearly. I’ve said for the last 8 years he will have to out recruit and out hire his incompetence. Looks like he has almost done that. Any disappointments next season…he needs to go
