After a long wait, the new HOI4 DLC is finally here! NO STEP BACK HAS ARRIVED!
And there's no better way to start than to play Germany, the strongest country in Hearts of Iron 4!
This is what happens when you play Germany in the new HOI4 DLC!
As you all know due to the many HOI4 Dev Diaries videos we did, No Step Back is probably the biggest Hearts of Iron 4 Update and DLC that Paradox has ever released.
The entire HOI4 meta will change because of this patch and its many changes, such as the new tank system, the supply system overhaul that will introduce trains and an actual realistic supply system in a Hearts of Iron game and tons of new focus trees.
There's actually a lot of changes to the military stuff and combat so it's a little hard to name them all, so you will see them all in the video.
And spoiler, No Step Back seems like it's a really good update and DLC.
Tommy enjoyed it a lot so far and it's gonna be super fun to cover the new Soviet Union aka Russia trees.
But there's also some alarming news, there's new achievements.
That means the return of the HOI4 100% Series as well as a hunt for all the new HOI4 achievements.
This all means that Tommy is gonna lose his mind and that we are in for a great journey that will lead to all of us ending up bald and mald.
Well the journey will officially start in the next video so don't be scared yet, we only got a slight taste of the insanity coming back to Tommy's HOI4 Achievement Runs...

Just adding this here. Top right when you select an army you can click which truck preference you want so you dont have to manually select horses, trucks, double trucks as your army moves around.
Does it revert back to just trains once the army moves on?

I like that you use Aot Soundtracks
You can actually do light tanks, which have so high penetration and hard attack with decent reliability and low production cost that can counter enemy heavy tanks with massive armor
So excited for cancer achievement runs to be back
The only thing i dont like is the doctrine haveing exp to get becuase now you never get the other doctrines like focus on military doctrine then you wont be able to focus on air or navy as most other countrys that dont have a lot of oil like japan

Supplies used to be as simple as: max harbor/max infrastructure. Now it's basically the that, except you have to deal with it at every turn once you push into Russia. GLHF trying to complete Operation Barbarossa on this patch XD. Hopefully railways repair quickly.

Hello. I know a lot of people think that medium tanks can do the job, but I use a lot of light tanks as minor countries that are not against a big country. For example, liberating Africa in the options and then choosing one african country to conquer all, the only suitable tank for the job are light ones, the same with south american countries fighting eachother. Also, when you are a big country and want to send soldiers to a place with kinda low supplies, I use light tanks, or when there is a spot where the enemy doesnt have amour (early Germany vs USSR for example) the light tanks deal very well against massed infantry. Of course you could send your medium tanks against enemy infantry, but why do it when you can send light ones and leave the medium for even more important tasks? I think light warfare is underrated in hoi4 but not nerfed.

i was trying to get "one step foward" today but failed because i had puppet poland and called it into the war and for some reason it counted as germany attacking first, but germany also did the civil war so i finished attacking them anyway because i wanted to get "soviet onion" then and got "we dont really like statistics" accidentally but i gave up because uk had guaranteed both poland and germany and at that point the world tension was so high that the usa joined. basically, xd

The Gibraltar to Singapore achievement is probably the cruelest. It’s not just Invade the world and win the game, you have to have enough infrastructure and industry (Plus loyalty in your occupied territories to stop rebellion) to Build the railway across the world!
Do you also have to own the land? As far as I know it'll still work if you just conquer up to Turkey since most of Europe is connected anyway.

Just play with your buddies mp and get one friend to buy it. Plenty of other games require you to own all dlc paradox atleast let's you play if only one owns the dlc. Also from all the DLC tbh this one in my opinion is the one worth the money out of all the dlc $20 ain't much tbh

I did it the monarchist way taking over the baltics in 1937 and diplomatically annexing poland in 38. I didnt do it on historical and trotkys failed civil war got most of the red army killed but another guy who got it said that even on historical the red army is a joke with enough 7inf 2art 1aa and superior firepower. On historical you wont avoid war with the USSR so you might aswell start it on your terms. (I too killed stalin with 7-2s) get your cores on belarus and ukraine and do whatever you want with the rest of the USSR. With your estern flank secured its time to fight germany. You can either keep up in the air game rushing fighter 3s thanks to the 100% boost + designers 15% boost + 'connection to the industry' army spirit (20% boost) aswell as 100 factories on fighters. i even had to fight the RAF (monarchist britain) and ~50% air supeority. The other guy simply brute forced his way into berlin, no need to annex them, only walk into berlin, you dont need to defeat them.
I’ve just started watching tommy regularly and can I say I love the style not just the memes, but tommy is great.

@@MeidoInHebun There was some PR bad blood. Tommy has been the biggest Hoi4 content creator for a good while now. But his earlier content was seen as too edgy within the company. This led to him not being considered under the ubrella of paradox content creators, at least officially. Which enraged both him as his community.
Both sides certainly have their arguments. But suffice it to say one year ago when CK3 was released Tommy was still being left out of such things as content creator early access and other colaboration agreements that would've certainly benefitted both parties mentioned.

I don't think the German AI has ever reached my cores when playing as the soviet union. There's so much manpower and infantry equipment is so cheap.
It's possible to have several full armies of pure infantry divisions with engineers, support aa and artillery when the war starts, at least 4 million men in the field, maybe 5. Then they can never make it through east poland.

@@gamesnig I mean all the relevant minors have focus trees. Unless you mean like Ireland or Brazil but there are more urgent matters such as Germany, Japan focus tree being outdated, USA even.

Logistics really were a huge part of WWII. Italy had it bad because they were in the middle of changing rifle cartridges, so it was a nightmare sending the right ammo to the right soldiers too
