    Vitamin C and dandruff shampoo rinse with white vinegar then soak your hair in coconut oil and conditioner which will pull even more color out then you can purchase a color lifter which will definitely work on splat and follow those directions then if there's still color left you do a bleach bath which isn't nearly as damaging as just bleaching it. Never fully bleach your hair for any color other than black or dark brown hair. There's no need for it

  • @PeytonLayne
    @PeytonLayne 8 ปีที่แล้ว +66

    In the future, I would recommend taking the slow and steady route to removal. Even though the other methods may sound more drying, hair tends to stay healthier if it has time to rest and recover with the use of conditioners. With him having short hair, it's not much of a concern. But stripping hair so quickly is like hitting the gym really hard nonstop for a short period of time. You end up doing more damage than if you allowed a resting period.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Peyton Layne I would agree with you if your hair was alive (like your muscles) but your hair doesn't really recover as I understand from my hairdresser. The repeated application of vitamin c throws your hair's ph balance off which can be just as damaging as repeated applications of permanent hair color. Plus - it's really frustrating for those who might not have days or weeks to try to fade the Splat. But to each their own - if the process works for you it may work well for others also. Thank you for your insight ❤

    I stopped using splat when removing it caused my hair to melt. Splat is actually a fabric dye and almost impossible to get it out because as you said it IS a stain not a dye, I'd suggest using lime crime or arctic fox for fun colors they are far easier to get out and are available at Sally beauty and some Walmart and targets. Ulta has them too.
    Love that you made this and did your research!

      Learned the hard way, I love my vivid colors, but I’m now in college. My uncle used splat and it went well (both of us are crazy color fanatics), so I tried it. I got tired of the blue, and I attempted to bleach it (I always waited in between a couple of months to use bleach so my hair is healthy) and I removed CHUNKS OF MY HAIR washing the bleach out. Now, I’ve gotten platinum blonde from black box dye before, and we know how black box dye is, but a “semi permanent” hair color MELTED my hair!

    Yeah, the vitamin C method is time consuming but it does work. You just need to be patient, instead of taking the faster route, which is bleaching the hair. I only suggest bleaching the hair if you want to make the color brighter, but to take out the color, just don't do bleach, or maybe put shampoo into the bleach ones you've mixed it up. It'll be less harmful to the hair then just using the straight up bleach. :)

    All of you people hating on Splat amaze me.....like if you aren’t willing to stick with a hair color long term, don’t use any hair color at all. Why color your hair and then then right around and BLEACH it to get it out? Bleach just drives the color further into your hair shaft. I used Splat Midnight Ruby a little over a month ago for the first time and I love it. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair. PROFESSIONAL hair stylists have never given me this intense red. I plan on refreshing my red right before Thanksgiving by using Splat Midnight Ruby again. My hair grows incredibly fast and I’ll be able to just cut it out and start fresh as time goes on. Oh and for the lady who posted this video.....NEVER NEVER NEVER bleach hair to remove color when the hair had already been previously bleached. You are incredibly lucky you didn’t fry your son’s hair and/or burn his scalp.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Michelle Matheson I think the reason so many people are “hating” on Splat is that they aren’t prepared for the weeks of color leaking that happens (on their pillowcase, towels, Mom’s sofa, etc.) or for the fading but not gone color over time. Also, it is generally marketed as a semi-permanent color, which causes some surprise when one finds they are stuck with it. I think it’s great that you are happy with your color, which leads me to ask the question - Why are you watching this video if you are so in love with your color?

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Michelle Matheson Also, it’s not my first time using bleach. “Frying” your scalp with bleach is rare, unless you are a complete idiot and aren’t paying attention - never mind that the original Splat kit comes with bleach as the first step! It is always amusing to me to read the naysayers bashing bleach, when Splats first step is bleach! Also, I’m curious to know why people think bleach drives color further into the hair shaft? My hairdresser said that bleach is about the only way to get rid of hair stain. In fact, the new product by Splat which removes color is nothing more than a bleach bath as I understand it.

    • @michellematheson2253
      @michellematheson2253 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to do hair for a living, so regardless of what you might think, I do know what I’m talking about. When you bleach hair, it blasts the cuticle layer of the hair wide open and that’s why when you put color over it, it soaks it right up. Since you wanna ask me questions, I have one for you......If you have a PROFESSIONAL hair stylist that you go to, why were you attempting to do your son’s hair at home with obviously no idea what you were doing? I personally think your son’s hair didn’t really look that good at the end result and I’m extremely curious how it looked after a couple of washes.....for a couple of reasons. One, because you bleached it before you colored it and two, because you only left the color on for ten minutes or so. Oh and why does it really matter why I was watching your video if I love my color? I watched it for kicks and laughs because there’s so many haters of Splat and there’s so many people out there that “remove” it with literally no idea what they are doing.

    • @michellematheson2253
      @michellematheson2253 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh and another thing.......Splat does stop leaking. I wash my hair every 3-4 days to prolong the life of my color and as of recently have had ZERO leakage. But again, I know what I’m doing and how to take care of my color treated hair when it’s painfully apparent not many people do.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Oh dear! Such emotion over something that obviously isn't a concern of yours! I am a mom on a budget and I save my PROFESSIONAL hair stylist for me :) My son's hair looked great after several washes, after a month of washes and beyond. And it looked a ton better than these poor people struggling to rid their hair of a color after applying repeated applications of Vitamin C and dish soap. Since you are a "professional" - do you care to enlighten the rest of us that have no idea what we are doing on HOW to really get rid of Splat? Or is your only answer to "commit to the color"? I'm sure many viewers would love to have a real solution that doesn't involve bleach or useless Vitamin C remedies!

  • @ChyoChiroi
    @ChyoChiroi 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    People do those 20 applications of vitamin C (or whatever they prefer to get the color out) because they want to keep their near platinum blonde look or are going for a platinum look. This is the way to go only if you want to go back to your own natural blonde (or light brown or brown or whatever you used to have), and I still would've waited a day or two in-between the bleach and the color.

    Hi I'm 13 years old and this summer I used Splat hair dye to put blue streaks in my naturally blonde hair, I made a mistake and left the dye in for 16 hours.
    Now I'm going to dance in the nutcracker in a few months and I cannot get the blue out!! Can I use the bleach that CAME with the hair dye? Will it get the blue out?

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the bleach that came with the Splat hair dye should get the blue out but please be aware that it will also lighten your natural color. If you are a really light blonde this might not be a big deal but if you are like my son who was a darker blonde, you will notice a difference, so be prepared to go lighter. It's cool if you don't mind being more blonde or if you can do like I did and add a natural looking hair color back into your hair after you've removed the blue. Bleach just removes all colors, natural or artificial. And the bleach included in the Splat kit is the same type of hair bleach that I purchased separately to remove my son's blue. Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming performance!

      samantha root if you used the bleach prior to using Splat, I would wait a bit. But, if you just applied the Splat without pre-treating with bleach, I think it would be safe to bleach it out. Just be aware that it may take longer to remove the Splat stain since it is fresh. A lot of people say that Splat fades very quickly so if you can stand it for a bit, maybe just wait a week or so for the fading to occur. Everyone’s hair is different and if in doubt, I would talk to a professional. This has worked for my child, but I am in no way a professional.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! Although some argue that the bleach is harsh, most have already used bleach that came with the kit. And used correctly, it's not terribly damaging so long as you're not doing repeatedly. Please let us know how it works for you if you get the chance!

    • @royamuellen6917
      @royamuellen6917 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Poppyjuice I'll let you know! I tried doing a bleach bath last night and it did get a ton of the pink out, and made the purple a bright pink. I'll try the exact bleach you bought. I know people can complain about using bleach but if used correctly and not all the time it's ok. Plus, like you said the other options I would just have to keep doing over and over and it would damage the hair anyways. My daughters hair is more of a golden blonde, do you think I could put golden blonde over it after its bleached or should I get something more ashy?

    • @royamuellen6917

    • @Poppyjuice

      I think you could use a Golden Blonde - I used an ash blonde because my son has a more neutral tone to it until he gets into the sun.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But also keep in mind, if your daughter's hair seems too reddish, an ashy tone can help cancel the reddish tones and bring the hair back to it's normal golden blonde. If there was still color left after the bleach bath, you may need to just leave it on a bit longer. Splat stain is about the most stubborn I've ever encountered. When I first put the bleach on, I estimated it would only take a few minutes to lift the blue out but our total time ended up being nearly an hour. Crazy! But definitely worth it!

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough decision! Sorry for the late reply - we were on vacation and my phone wouldn't let me get to your comment... If you just do the the purple WITHOUT bleaching it first (as the kit recommends for intense color), you might be okay (but the color won't be as intense and won't last long) but, if you bleach first, then you will likely have to do what I did for my son to get your own, or similar, color back. It's a big process and does cause some hair damage. And, the SPLAT kit also causes hair damage if you do both steps (the bleach step first). If you have doubt, I'd consider just doing the temporary stain and see if it gives you the look you want. If not, you can always do it again with both steps. It's just a lot of processing to put on your hair in one month's time.

      It's really tough to just lighten black hair a little bit...If the strand looks good, then perhaps go for it. I think you might run into an issue of brassiness. If all else fails, you could try applying the bleach mixture, but leave it on for less time. You could then tone it with an ash or violet to help cancel reddish tones. There are some really good videos on toning hair by using a 10 volume developer mixture with the appropriate color. What is her hair's natural color?

I left the bleach in for maybe 20-30 minutes, and I was scared to leave it in longer cause I didn't want to damage my hair more than I had to. I bet if I did a few more bleaching sessions it would come out but it was verrrrry bright pink after I bleached it lol almost like a whole new color. but it's OK, it was still light enough to put my purple over it and it came out looking amazing. I uses manic panic this time in ultra violet, and I think I like this purple a lot more. it wasn't nearly as messy as splat and didn't bleed as much in the shower. Http.Destiny - this should work with any color of Splat. Although some may be more difficult than others to remove, the concept is that you’re bleaching the color out. The color may go through shades of lightning, for example if you had purple tint, it may look more blue at first, and then eventually pink and then finally bleached out. (I’m guessing at the progression, so please don’t hold me to that.) please let us know how it goes for you if you decide to try this method. Thanks!

    I used Pravana hair products and it did not do this well . It did not even remove the die . So our mission continues. I may try this product but from what I know you shouldn’t use ash .

    What if I need to remove the dye, but my hair is very fragile and comes out easily. I can't risk the bleach.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SuperSillyStars228 #awesome my only other suggestion would be to try some of the other remedies that people are using. However, it seems to me as if they are unable to remove the dye completely and the methods are still just as drying as bleach. Another that I just thought of but haven't heard of anyone trying would be hydrogen peroxide. However, I would think that there is the possibility it might be drying too. Did you use bleach initially prior to applying the dye in order to get a more intense color?

  • @kaylapratley3
    @kaylapratley3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used it forever. And the pink never came out all the way lol. So every time I bleach it to change colors it turns pinkish blonde

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mikelle Hatch oh no! It should have lightened drastically 😕 I would be hesitant to try another application of bleach...perhaps consult a hair stylist for suggestions? I suppose it’s possible to have hair that is resistant to the bleaching process 🤔

    My son had me put splat in his hair purple his hair is dirty blonde to brown how do I get the purple out

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephanie Davis if you didn’t use the bleach step included in the kit prior to applying the purple, I wouldn’t use this process shown in the video. Instead, I would try using hydrogen peroxide, or the Splat brand remover (this wasn’t on the market when I made the video). If you bleached first, you could follow the steps in this video. But instead of using a blonde color after the bleach, use something that more closely resembles your son’s natural color. You could, if you have access to a beauty supply store, use a 10 volume peroxide and the color (two parts peroxide one part color) to tone your sons hair after bleaching the purple out.

    Use arctic fox as hair dye. It doesn’t have any bad chemicals and it’s semi permit but it will still last you a long time.

    • @Poppyjuice
      @Poppyjuice 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lexi Honestly, each person’s hair is different. I would give it a try, but if it doesn’t work I wouldn’t be surprised. There have been so many people that have reached out expressing that this method worked for them or didn’t work for them that I couldn’t guess. I believe we were lucky in that my sons hair was “open” to the chemical processes.
