You hit the nail on the head. Ride to have fun! Ride what you enjoy, and what you feel comfortable on. I was a new dirt bike rider at age 43 (new to dirt, but rode street for years). I went through so many bikes listening to experienced riders. I was always told the “F” bikes were for kids, and girls lol. Oh, and that they are heavy gutless pigs. After several bikes, and $$$, I finally settled on a crf230 after all. Five years later to be exact. I absolutely have a hoot on that bike, and love every minute on it. It does everything I want. I like it so much, I reserved the 250F. I’m glad that you have a positive review. A lot of experienced riders tend to look down upon the Japanese trail bikes. Not all folks ride the same, nor have the same expectations when riding. Its all about having fun, and getting out on two wheels!!
Hey dirt riding is fun relaxing an a good stress reliever. I’m 64 now rode when I was younger on streets. To dangerous now days. Waiting for a ct 125 to get to dealership. So hard to wait on it to come in. Have fun friend , be safe.
My situation is much like yours. At 40 years old and riding street bikes for 20 years, I always wanted a dirt bike but didn’t want to go overboard. After much research and riding review videos, I settled on the Honda crf250f and couldn’t be happier!
Had some trouble on my first serious trail ride with friends (95% rider error) and my buddy let me ride his 250f to give me a break. After maybe 10 minutes of riding, I immediately made my mind up and sold my KTM to get my own 250f within a week of us coming home. Super easy “tractor” gearing, fuel injection, air cooled… I finally feel like I’m riding the bike instead of the bike riding me. Don’t get me wrong, my KTM was an absolute beast of a bike. The 250f just checks every single box for me. My riding style and preferences, electric start, my skill level, my maintenance knowledge level. It just hasn’t missed a beat and after watching pretty much all of your videos, I’m even more confident that I made the right decision. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. 😂🎉
When I was looking at bikes this year, it was a toss up between a CRF250f and the KLX300R for a fun trail bike that could just chug along the trails with my kids. I ended up going with the KLX due to the better suspension for a guy my size (6'1" and 195) and I've seriously enjoyed it.
Exactly the same for me! Haha I went to the dealership about 2 months ago to buy a CRF250F but when I sat on it, it felt a bit small and squishy lol I never even considered owning a Kawasaki before but the salesman told me to sit on the 300r because he felt I’d like it more. I knew it was the perfect bike just from sitting on it. It sat much higher and suspension was nice and firm. I’m happy with my purchase! @adventuredaily you should get a 300r and do comparisons and maybe you’ll enjoy it too! Also could you make some gear videos? Just a recommendation on boots or whatever you typically use when going on trips to ride. Long post so hopefully you read it to the end haha
I too purchased a Klx300r in the spring of 2020. It has been the best trail bike I've ever owned since quitting mx racing. It can handle some serious speed and suspension hits and maintain its composure without ejecting you into the ground. A close second was my 1988 Xr200r Honda back in the day. But like others said on here, if the Crf250f had six gears, 11 inches of suspension travel and around 8 more horses it would be in my garage verses the KLX300R. I have always preferred Honda build quality over any other Japanese brand.
Same happen to me my crf250L got stolen and i ride xc no crf 250f on my local dealers and en it up with the klx300r no regrets at all even im a honda guy
Love the big read. My first bike back in 1971 was a 175SL and now since 2012 I have owned a CRF230L, NC700X, and a CRF300L Rally. All three are sitting in my garage and I love them I have owned other bikes but I just feel weird on any thing else.
I'm done with high performance two strokes and going all out. I miss my kdx200 and just riding easy like you do in your video. Just plunking around is so enjoyable. My plan is to find a gently used 230f this winter and bring it out a bit and be ready for spring.
I have a KDX 200 I ride now. Love it. My dad has one also and its getting to be to tall for him. I'm trying to find him something lower to the ground with electric start.
What's up Tanner! Tom Meyer here, been watching your videos for years now and they just keep getting better! You have inspired me to make a channel but I have much to learn. Looking forward to the next Adventure 🤘
Now that’s the way to cross a wide creek crossing, good job. Love your wheelies also. I am thinking seriously about replacing my 2001 XR-250R with the 250F. At my age, I really need the electric start.
My buddy with a big bore stroked xr400 made street legal sure needs an electric start. It sure looks hard to kick. After it’s hot it won’t start. He likely needs a valve adjustment. He was trying to bump start off road on very steep hills and would just slide. I Finally realized and asked what gear are you in? As only one tiny hill left to try. He said first! I said no try 3rd on that bike as you are locking up the rear in 1st. It then started right up. He desperately needs a electric start. Half his rides are kicking his very hard to kick bike. The cr 250r stock is much easier ,but I understand I love that my most off road oriented bike has both a kicker if battery was dead ,and electric start. It starts first kick even on a dead battery as it has a carburetor 2006 very modified wr250f made street legal like new. The xr series the 250 400 and 650r were all great everlasting bikes that I wished they still made especially the 650r, but with electric start.
The CRF250F is such a sweet little piece for sure! My nephew keeps his over at my place and I'll take it for a little rip here and there, what a nicely balanced bike, that, like you stated, works for 90% of riders. Easy to move around on, easy to maintain, good on fuel, decent brakes and just love how playful it feels. I don't ride that much anymore, but if I did, I'd probably want to rack up the miles on the CRF and not my 300RR Beta. But, if you can swing it, why not have both. Hope you and Lex are doing well. Peace.
I am a Honda crf250f owner myself and love the bike. I have owned a kx250 and yz450fx in the past, but I there is just something about the crf250f. It’s just fun. I absolutely agree with you, it’s my new favorite bike of all time.
A lot of guys are after the latest and greatest features and power and going fast. Meanwhile there’s me on a WR250 having the time of my life wheelying everywhere and enjoying trails. I really do believe a supermoto or dirt bike is the all around best bike you can own. I can’t wait for more manufacturers to make them street legal for everyone to enjoy.
Something to be said about bikes that just always work and seem eternal. I ride a wrr but the soft suspensions actually let you ride all day without wearing you out. The hondas have always had that "tractor" torque that makes the low speed stuff easier. (85 xl250r was my 1st)
I'd love to just hear some podcasts about what's going on in your travels/life, or even bikes you find that are great for the crowd (crf250f). Your doing great man.
My buddy had one of these so I got to ride it for a day. It was awesome. I'm only 5'7, it fit my frame beautifully. I have a 300L now as we do a lot of riding where a plate is needed. I'm not sure if we could get the 250F plated here. Oregon can be strict on that.
Love your videos! Picking up a new 250f this week. Looking forward to getting in the woods with it. Question I have is what bag do you have on the tank?
Always love the videos, upgraded my bike from the crf125fb to a new wr250f and so far I love it. Adding the gytr ecu and ccu with a switch for map switching on the fly. If you ever have any rides planned in wisconsin please reach out would love to get in on a group ride with you at some point.
Definitely do a kdx build for the winter. That's what I'm up to. Hyde abs skidplate, new bars, polisport front headlight, next to do is probably rebuolding the top end!!
The CRF250F is a great trailbike. It's affordable, reliable, and bullet proof. There are a million twenty something supercross wannabees desperately trying to out do each other and going home in wheel chairs. Trailbikes are coming back fast.
A couple of questions: where did you get your red front headlight from? Do you have a video of the dual sport kit install ? I have a 2022 and plan to make it street legal to connect trails in CO and Arkansas. Great video. Thx
I have more fun on my xt225 than I ever did on my rm250.. that thing just blew up all the time and blew reed valves and piston rings. Plus mixing gas is lame. I now ride that xt225 to work and back and on trails. Zero maintenance needed on the older 4 stroke. 2001.
All the videos on these bikes seems like people are putting along but you were ripping pretty good. Had a 2-stroke back in the day before moving to street bikes…. Now looking at a another dirt bike; don’t want something too intense but don’t want to be bored either. Having trouble without riding them 1st…
You inspired me to by my first bike since I was a kid! I went with the XR650L. Its a bit heavy, but comfortable enough on the road. Bought it new. Mods will come next year.
I bought my 250F slightly used from my nephew. I have really enjoyed it. It is such a fun trail bike. I’m interested to see your street legal build. I think that will be really cool.
Good scenery ! Dirt bikes are good for your soul :) Definitely more fun to ring a light bikes neck then to have to be careful with too much power. I’m curious you said you sold a bike to one of your viewers -how do you engage in communication privately without putting your personal information on “comments” Thx mate
Recently sold off 9 nice bikes that I had and kept my crf250l to ride and I've got a 1990 xr200r that I'm restoring and giving to my son, spend more time riding and less time wrenching
Not gonna lie I bought the same bike discovered your channel and now I find out you live like super close to me super rad I love my 250f maybe even more than my 250rx an yz125x it’s a great bike
I'm looking at crf250f and Yamaha yz125x. Since you own both, could you shed some light on which one you prefer on trails/cross country/Enduro? And what's it like maintenance wise between the two?

hello!!! I would like a crf to make off-road trips and I wanted to ask you if you have an approximate idea of the autonomy offered by its fuel tank. Thank you very much and congratulations for this excellent content. Greetings from Colombia!
What's the gearing on that thing? That rear sprocket looks huge! My enduro is geared tall for the street at 14/40. I want to make it more trail worthy with a lower gear ratio, especially since I live close to the trails and almost never get into 6th gear.
You could throw a 13 front sprocket and see how you like it. Maybe a 12 if they make it for your model. That way you do not need to have a larger chain
You hit the nail on the head. Ride to have fun! Ride what you enjoy, and what you feel comfortable on. I was a new dirt bike rider at age 43 (new to dirt, but rode street for years). Nice vid! Nice to see positive vibes on the 250F, I’ve got the 22 copy, love it!

Seems like a badass bike! I glad I saw this video. I was considering buying a 300l but you might have convinced me otherwise lol. Thank you 💪🏼
I have a comparison video between the two be sure to give that a watch!

Gotta redo the valves so it will hold compression.
Hope I can get it done
Love your videos! Picking up a new 250f this week. Looking forward to getting in the woods with it. Question I have is what bag do you have on the tank?
Honda needs to wake up and smell the light ADV coffee.. we want a street-legal CRF400F air-cooled with fuel injection and optional ABS. COMMON HONDA.

Tanner ,If Honda doesn't sponsor Itchy Boots ,I don't think they will ever sponsor anyone.
Hard to beat a 250f or 230f for light weight tractoring through the trails.

Where were you riding at?
just pickup a 23 Kim 500 exc and love it
Can’t ride in Scotland off road wish I lived in the states
What's the gearing on that thing? That rear sprocket looks huge!
My enduro is geared tall for the street at 14/40. I want to make it more trail worthy with a lower gear ratio, especially since I live close to the trails and almost never get into 6th gear.
You could throw a 13 front sprocket and see how you like it. Maybe a 12 if they make it for your model. That way you do not need to have a larger chain
@@jaime7890 I did that on my KX100. Worked good but its a great way to go through chain sliders.
Is this better then a 300l?
nobody has done a Powercommander VI video yet for the 250F.... (!)
Do you ever take your dog with you while trail riding? I might try that this year wondering if anyone has experience with that…
You look familiar, did you grow up in Ohio? I'm from Portage county area. I swear I knew your twin if it's not you.
I got one finally
Those don't come with lights do they?
No they don't but you can buy the Tusk enduro lighting kit using my affiliate link; bit.ly/TuskLightingKit, it's a pretty easy install and affordable.
im 5'2 could this be my first bike?
I love my crf250f
Great bikes!

That’s what I ended up getting, I love it!
Thought you wanted a 2 stroke?
Is 45 degrees not cold ??
It's definitely chilly but here in Ohio it can get into the teen's so 45 feels a-little better haha
