So I just want to give some info as this review isn’t extremely clear. The “beta” is called Evrima. It is the newer version of The Isle and the on the devs are working on. Legacy, the default one that you used to start as (they changed this recently so that you can start on Evrima), is the older version and one that might get deleted in upcoming years. Before you immediately change to the Evrima do take note that a high end PC is needed. On a low end PC you will most likely only have a maximum of 30-60 fps (depending where on the map you are), I’ve seen a lot of 5-10 fps in the middle of the map called Center. The reason I prefer to play Legacy (the older version) is because it has a bigger variety of dinosaurs, a way more interesting map and probably the biggest of them all, it has a T-Rex. Evrima only has a few dinos as it’s still in development. But, Huge updates are coming Evrimas way like more dinos, a new and improved map and ALOT of bug fixes. Overall I would really rather play Legacy at the moment because I prefer it and because it will get deleted so when it’s gone, it’s gone. This is googleable as well btw. My opinion is the game is very rapidly dying, not worth it. My suggestion? Try path of titans or beasts of Bermuda. Same concepts but not actual dying games before they even release. Just warning anyone who is thinking about buying this game, it’s a hard learning curve to begin for 1. And for 2 there aren’t many players anymore and the game hasn’t even officially been released. Also I’ve been playing for 4 years and yes the graphics are getting better but this game isn’t even half the glory it used to be 4 years ago. Imo buying this game is a lose lose. That is unless you have multiple friends willing to buy it and play with you then MAYBE…but that’s a big maybe even then. Say you got 10 people to join you and play this game with you, I’d say after 3 months 8 of your friends will have quit the game for good….it’s getting bad Edit: just to add, one of the developers developed brain cancer in the middle of development of this game and has passed away. Dondii the owner of the isle literally went ghost for months on end from criticism from the fan base after the passing of their core developers and dondii basically just let the game go to shit, OR dondii is just incompetent and the core developer that died was taking on most of the baggage of this game, so naturally when he died….so did the game. Sorry if I misled anyone into a different low population game, however I just don’t feel like the isle is worth the 10 dollars I paid for it anymore. It may be that I witnessed and played the game so long ago in development that I may have a biased opinion now. Don’t let me ruin anyones will to buy this game if it looks interesting go for it. I’m just salty where this game has gone

I am a path of titans player and thought since I enjoy that game, then maybe I would enjoy this one too. But 81% of the player base leaving is far too red of a flag to ignore. Thanks for the heads up!
personally, i have 1.4k hours on the isle, most of this is spent on the 2nd branch of the game known as "evrima". this is probably the best part of the game since its a whole different recode of the game meant for a better experience for the player along with adding new playables that have special abilities to each of them. i'd say the isle is worth it but only for evrima.

I can see this type of game being very unique and entertaining, however compared to other survival games it would lack the looting, gathering, crafting, inventory management, etc from most survivals, which is not really replaced with anything else. I havent played the game but seems like this is why the game could get boring in the long run
I’m someone who has this game. Your point is valid, but it doesn’t get as boring as quickly as one would imagine (at least not on the beta). If you’re ever bored, you can always try a different dinosaur with completely different mechanics forcing you to switch up your playstyle. But you are right, if you sink in a couple hundred hours into the game, it would inevitably become boring.
Night being dark is a feature is games like Rust. It mixes things up for one. It dynamically changes the game. Maybe you’re a solo so you run to go buy shit at Bandit Camp at night to avoid roaming clans who usually hole up in their bases at night. But then it carry’s risks as well because you can’t see and may run into a naked with a shotgun or a turret. I’ve defended many a raid because I build in the snow and since everyone is wearing their best metal armor they have to go huddle around campfires at night and I can use the time to repair my base. I have jackets stocked up to wear. They probably don’t. Saying something like, “Just give us night vision so we can always see…” Goes against the whole idea. Now things like night vision goggles and flashlights and fires or heaters and jackets and stuff… That’s different and far superior game design. Of course you are a dinosaur in this game so I understand why they give you night vision or make it a perk or something but to say you should have it in games like Rust… I mean while your at it why not get rid of hunger mechanics in DayZ. And disease. And fuck it get rid of those annoying zombies while your at it. In fact get rid of the other players as well. Then you can just safely roam the countryside in peace and practice shooting at empty cans on a fence…
You get to choose a variety of Dino’s for free, you choose herbivore or carnivore and choose the Dino’s amongst those options. Herbivore choose triceratops, gallimimus etc etc carnivore choose T. rex, Utah raptor, velociraptor etc etc. and then you get to customize your colors of your choosing before entering the game. All for free
Also, it's mostly always night in the game apparently... read the reviews, and yikes! Seeing a lot of backlash from the problems with the dev team but idk if it's worth it. Since all my friends say now it's just a Dino PvP game. Also everywhere I look for reviews mention the nutrition part of the game is terrible but I hope it gets changed. Seems quite the grind.
I played the game and I can absolutely agree cause dinosaur growth takes literally hours (the longest being Rex and Deino) lasting up to about 9 hours which can all be easily taken away by a player who kills you for fun
Sounds nice BUT for the few things u can do, all the systems seem pretty basic. It could aim for a more detailed damage System by getting rid of healthbars and adding diffrent types of injuries, enviromental Hazards and even Rainforests... in general more lush and dense enviroment with more verticality, a more complex hungersystem including parasites and plaques or dynamic vegetation which changes depending on the climate or other factors. Even Seasons (which may not be realistic) could make the gameplay more dynamic if implented right. Maybe they could even implement Humans a second fraction to play but i think this is to far from how they want their game to be. All this (excluding humans) would make up for the lack of content a human survival game overs without changing the concept of the game.

in the country where I live there is no point in playing this game because the ping on the server is 100 :) and I have one of the best possible internet connections in my country, plus all the servers are always busy (there are too few of them)
I just played because I got reccomended a ton of content on youtube about this game.. and it's so dissapointing.. there are no people to play with. I always choose servers in my region with the most player usually around 70 but when you're in the game there is NOBODY. They implemented migration zones for herbivores to graze and get their needs met but there is nobody in these zones I've played for 17h and met 5 people Ive grown 4 dinos to adulthood and then got bored because there is nothing else to do and since there are no other players there is no reason to keep playing

Yeah I just brought it found out to download the beta version. Lot to learn not got many dinosaurs to choose from tho.

I agree 100% but there is the exitemennt of literally hunting down and killing other people as a dinosaur

I am now around 40 hours in. this game definetly has it's problems but damn is it fun!

hey, just wanted to correct you about night time on Ark survival. You can actually see when its night on Ark (just turn gamma higher with command).
there are servers that have this option disabled. also I never liked it because it takes away from the experience
