We just moved back into our home after. 15 month renovation. It is taking us so long to unpack everything. But we are 56 and not as young as we used to be. We just focus on tackling three things a day on the weekends.
I understand, Sis!!! We were out of our home for ten months due to fire damage😢. When the movers brought all of belongings back to the house, I was instantly overwhelmed and experienced anxiety. I normally don’t ask for help but I knew I had to “lose” my pride and get any and every family member I could to help me out. It took me about two months to unpack and “organized”, but I got it done. I gave away half of my clothes and shoes. I have no regrets. I just encourage you to ask and accept any assistance. It goes a long way. Stay blessed❤
The home I live in, was my parents. Generations of clutter, untouched until I started working on it. The last 4 days, I have had to learn how to repair a roof, install gutters, had to do landscaping tasks that only professionals should attempt. Even cutting it all down and bagging it myself. Alone. While taking care of all the basics and my 3 children, alone. I had to work in the dark. In the rain. But I did it. I got it all cleaned up. I fixed the leaking roof and resolved the initial cause of the problem. I made Halloween costumes happen, even though it rained here. While other people called me crazy. Told me I was wasting my time. But didn't offer help or to pay for help I cannot afford. I encourage you all to push yourselves one step further. Do not give up. If you have the vision, the drive, the focus....you can make it happen. Poor and broken, abandoned and alone....you can still reach your goals. You can still create your own success. I believe in you, because I believed I could do it and I did. Okay everyone....now....holidays! Go! Yay! Lol
Thanks Nikki👑💄💋 Your message is right on time! Perfection is the enemy of progress; just start somewhere. In efforts to improve our space, be intentional about " stuff " and future purchases, I've been decluttering & donating room by room, closet by closet for the past 4 months. It feels good.
Hello Nikki, I follow you and love your channel. I usually don't comment but today your message reached out and touched me at just the right time! I just want you to know that I enjoy your content and that what you do matters so much! I look forward to your next video. Thank you so much! A friend girl.
One small technique is at the end of the day to make a list of what you did (even small tasks) and checking them off. You may start to realize how much you're actually getting done.
How nice of Nikki to make a video regarding progress in areas that may get overlooked or overshadowed by our GRAND expectations. We all need this measure of encouragement. One baby step at a time.
You are so right!!! I've been overwhelmed because I've been decluttering, painting and reorganizing. I know what I've done but not the dates. Thank you so much.
Thanks for this message Nikki! I was just thinking the other day that I’ve “at least organized a section of my side if the closet, or the vitamins cabinet.” But then I immediately diminished it by thinking “yeah but I want to finish…”. So this reminds me to acknowledge my progress, without diminishing it. 🙏🏽
I really am liking these videos where you are encouraging your viewers while sharing all your valuable wisdom on organizing and maintaining the home. I find that I have seasons where I am so busy with family life that I fall off the bandwagon with keeping the home the way I really want to, so it can be hard to pick back up with the enthusiasm I need to make progress again. Please keep the encouragement and motivational videos coming! I’m sure there are many others who feel the same way😊
I've been following you for quite a few years, and love your tips! This video really helped and encouraged me. Looking at the comment from the 56 year old below, I could relate. I'm 67 and generally in good health, but I tire easily, get stiff and no longer have the physical strength I used to enjoy. I have had lots of renovations happening in my townhouse, and moving stuff from room to room plus out to storage pods and back has been exhausting. I've been fortunate to have good friends to help me. I've done a fair bit of decluttering, but it's hard to see the progress, and my decluttering got put on hold while I've been managing renovations. Hoping to really get going on the decluttering this winter! You inspire me, Nikki! 🌿
We just bought our first home two months ago. Unpacking has been going very slowly because we all were sick for several weeks. There's still so much left but I'm so happy when I get to see more of the floor 😁 Thanks for letting me know that we're not alone and thanks so much for the encouragement 🤗🙏
I great way is to take pics and look at them a few weeks or months later Last year I was in a dirty rental so I wrote out each room and made smaller tasks that would take 5-15 min such as baseboard / doors /walls /closet etc
The suggestions and examples I've been using in my kitchen that I learned from an old Nikki video are still working for me. There's still a whole lot that needs to be done everywhere else, though..LOL. Thanks, Nikki! XOXO ❤️
Nikki, I have been following you for years now. You have a gift for inspiring. I needed that in my home. Now, we decided for retirement to do a tiny house from a shed. Well, 2 sheds for us. 800 so total. It has been a very defeating journey. It has been tough staying positive because it is a slow pace. We have been living and working on it for 3 years now and my husband works and commutes 12-14 hours a day so, it's limiting. I catch myself grumbling and discontent. But, then I turned on your TH-cam channel again to this video. The words you spoke were amazing and inspiring. I may be going through that negativity with my home right now, maybe more so than others but, I need to keep going. Keep redefining space, keep taking out or rearranging to fit us. Thank you for THIS video.
Love this! You're right . . . there IS progress, tho it may seem small or slow. I have the iDesign containers to keep the cans and bottles in the pantry cabinet orderly, and I find myself evaluating the fridge and wanting to order more of those containers to organize various food items in like-categories. So you're right . . . I AM seeing progress. Thanks for the encouragement. 🥰
Great ideas ... especially journaling. I have been making notes/measurements about my home goals: now, there is a clear guideline for rearranging furniture, etc. TFS 💛
