The idea of forcing a family member to eat the same thing for every meal throughout their entire life breaks my heart.

i’ve been feeding my dog a different bag of dog food about every 2 months since he was about 4 months old. i mostly feed him animal body part treats, like pig ears, bully sticks, elk antlers, beef tranchea, chicken meat treats or fruits and vegetables. i feed him homemade food randomly to just switch it up! i also give him salmon oil, canned meat, and the honest kitchen pour-overs. (the ones without potatoes and peas) as well as broth in every meal. i avoid grain free foods (unless your dog is allergic there’s no reason your dog should be on this food because it’s linked to dcm in dogs) , peas, legumes, potatoes, corn, by product meals, and most of all “natural” flavors that aren’t regulated. here and there i’ll get an ingredient or two i don’t prefer lower on the ingredient list, but i don’t mind because too much of anything is bad, so i don’t mind the occasional potato/ pea fiber. kinks dry food isn’t the best, but i’m doing more than 70% of dog owners to help my dog out. i’ve been thinking about slowly introducing cooked meals like the ready frozen ones you can get. just don’t be fooled tho, just because it’s supposed to be better, doesn’t mean it is. you need to know what is in your dogs food at the very least. the first 2- ingredients should be meat! not a buy product or essence or whatever the fuck they try to sell u. also know that when you look at the label, any ingredient below salt is in less than 3% of the meal. don’t be fooled people. the more you look for what i’m saying the faster you’ll realize these companies don’t give a fuck about dogs. they practically can sell plastic in the bag and it’s still legal. and for the love of god if the first three ingredients or legumes, peas, potato or corn GET YOUR DOG A DIFFERENT FOOD. DOGS NEED MEAT.

I’ve been feeding my husky raw since we got her at 5 weeks, (we transitioned her to raw), but over time she’s refusing to eat raw, she’ll eat cooked meats but just outright refuses raw. At one point she was refusing anything raw, I was desperate so I gave her some cooked ground beef, she loved that. Once in a while she’ll come over if I’ve got raw grass-fed ground beef and eat a few bites but then refuses anymore. Not sure what else to do, I’ve tried dressing it up a bit with tiny pieces of Feta cheese or add nutritional yeast, still not eating her raw stuff. So now I’m giving her cooked muscle meats, raw egg, some carrots, blueberries, peanut butter, banana.
    Ugh.
I just cannot bring myself to give her commercial dry dog foods, and this video is further proof why I shouldn’t.
    Thank you!!!

I know how you feel! My German Shepherd doesn’t eat his raw food at times and it gets on my nerves! Wanna know what works for me? Put her bowl out for 15 mins during breakfast and dinner. If she doesn’t touch it, back in the fridge it goes. Repeat the next day. Dogs aren’t suicidal, she’ll get the memo soon and start devouring it the next day or two. It hurts seeing them hungry but it’s a reminder to not play games with your food! My dog Sheru does it on occasion and needs those reminders every once in a while. So don’t feel bad! Good luck hun!

It breaks my heart to rewatch this video. The ingredient panel is the last thing to look at to evaluate a diet! It’s not a tool to evaluate the quality of a diet but a tool for pet food marketers to manipulate us. The ingredient panel goes by weight, not volume. So the first j Greg isn’t is just the heaviest! So they play with ingredients to fool you! And no where in this video dies the author mention nutrients! That’s what affects your dogs health! And she shows a Science Duet and a Prescription Diet that are so-totally different! I’m sorry but her 4 years in a vet clinic didn’t teach her much. I live her passion but she needs to learn a lot more. It’s too important!

I was just confused and misunderstood since I saw you were showing it and circling it while saying "low quality dog foods may advertise that they are meat based but it may just be a trick". (I know most people wouldn't know it was Farmina) But I can see now you intended to use Farmina as a good example of a truthful brand. I'm a pet nutritionist and I recommend the kibble and cans to my clients all the time! @@yuanyuanm8417 I HIGHLY recommend adding water to the kibble if you can't afford any wet/raw. If your cat doesn't get enough moisture in their diet it can lead to kidney and urinary stones and even renal failure. But some other acceptable brands I'd say are Open Farm, Stella & Chewy's, Orijen, Instinct, and Nulo. Carna4 is another phenomenal one as good as Farmina, however, it's super expensive.

Thank you for pointing out that companies that sell that dog food are funding vet schools (smuckers and mars to name the biggest)... I thought feeding raw was going to be such a challenge as compared to kibble but I have found inexpensive and convenient ways to go about it like buying ground meat and feeding bones like chicken wings whole as opposed to sectioning them (it happens to work out with her bone needs). Eggs are easy, goatmilk is easy, and if I prep the other foods ahead of time for a few days, it's not a challenge at all and she loves it and is so happy! I'm glad I found your channel so I could prepare- she has been eating raw from day one off mom's milk and I feel fortunate to have known about this before even getting a puppy. : )

It must be nice, it must be nice
To have AAFCO on your side
It must be nice, it must be nice
To have AAFCO on your side
Every action has an equal opposite reaction
Thanks to The pet food industry , animal lovers are fractured into factions
Try not to crack under the stress, we're breaking down like fractions
We smack each other on the web, and we don't print retractions
I get no satisfaction witnessing their fits of passion
The way they primp and preen and dress like the pits of fashion
Our companions , our pets, live on unhealthy rations
As big kibble robs 'em blind in search of chips to cash in
These pricks are asking for someone to bring them to task
Somebody give me some dirt on their vacuous mask
So we can, at last, unmask them
I'll pull the trigger on them, someone load the gun and cock it
While we were all watching, they got The veterinary schools in their pocket
It must be nice, it must be nice
To have AAFCO on your side
It must be nice, it must be nice
To have AAFCO on your side
Look back at the NRC Guidelines(Which I wrote!)
    The ink hasn't dried
It must be nice, it must be nice
To have AAFCO on your side
So they’ve doubled the amount of grain in the food
Wasn't the trouble with much of our previous grain load?
    Look in their eyes
    See how they lie
Follow the scent of their enterprise
Selling down, dead, diseased, dying and drugged animals to rendering plants
If we don't stop it, we aid and abet it
    George Ferguson has to resign
Somebody has to stand up for our pets
Well, somebody has to stand up to the vets
If there's a fire you're trying to douse
You can't put it out from inside the house
The FDA is in the cabinet, They are complicit
And watching and grabbing the power and kiss it
If AAFCO isn't gon' listen to disciplined dissidents
This is the difference, this kid is out
Oh! This kibble isn't something we chose
Oh! These recalls are keeping us all on our toes
Oh! Let's show these Corporations what they're up against
Oh! Pissed off motherfucking Pet parents
Oh! Now follow the money and see where it goes
Oh! Because every second, the recalls grow
Oh! If we follow the money and see where it leads
Get in the weeds, look for the seeds of big Kibbles's misdeeds
It must be nice, it must be nice
Follow the money and see where it goes
It must be nice, it must be nice
    The emperor has no clothes
    We won't be invisible

Beef bones are too dense to be consumed, however they are great for making bone broth. Is this all to give as treats along with commercial food or are you using this as the sole diet? If so, a dressed chicken and a veggie smoothie wont provide enough nutrients. Here's a video where I explain how to balance a homemade raw diet: th-cam.com/video/iux2QpivRYA/w-d-xo.html
