In order to finder rafters, Would a tool like this work ? BOSCH Wall and Floor Detection Scanner D-TECT 120 ; The Bosch D-Tect 120 Wall and Floor Detection Scanner features Spot Detection technology to accurately detect objects behind walls, floors, and panels.
Great content! I notice in videos you always use mounts with flashing. Any opinions on Ironridges flashless mounts (Halo Ultragrip). Would be great with a video comparing the different mounts(fladhvue, flashfoot, halo ultragrip) :)
Hmm, I wonder if it could be a good idea to drill from underside/inside attic when you install on this kind of roof. Then you dont have to miss any rafters and less holes. But usually in norway you never see different distance between them. It's by code a set difference according to the angle of roof to secure that it has the strenght to hold snow in winter. I have same type where I live, but sadly have isolated and paneled on the inside of the roof. There is no regular attic but a loft.
IMO missing rafters is not a big deal with this kind of mount. Drilling from the attic will increase installation time a lot, because marking panels layout, and straight lines across all rafters could be a real challenge.
Awesome video, great explanation, could you also explain how to do grounding? And where ground polls should be located. Btw i like the rus-en conversion with your buddy.
grounding wire will land in main electrical panel, you can find more details here: th-cam.com/video/hVzAKJvxRjM/w-d-xo.html and thanks for the feedback
Thank you for this very detailed video. What design software tool are you using to generate the solar panel layout that you showed in the start of the this video?
Thank you. I’m in the process of planning for installation. I bought my solar panels already. Instruction videos like yours are really helpful and give us the confidence to DIY. Thanks again.
Uau, os telhados aqui do Brasil são bem diferentes e bem mais desafiadores pra instalar painéis solares. Os telhados aí são bem melhores pra nós que trabalhamos no setor.

Could an electronic wall locating sensor tool be used to locate the location of rafters as well?
Maybe commercial grade that can shoot signal deep. The cheap stud finders will do nothing.

Great tips! Thank you!
What type of sealant or caulking is that? Is it an adhesive or is it a waterproofing?
Chemlink M1, waterproofing
Thanks, useful.

I'm designing a system in opensolar.com, and then ordering permit packages from the tech design company.
