Yippppeeeeeeeeeee! One of my favourite TH-cam people. I can't put into words how happy I am I have found your channel. I've really missed watching Richard tear down transmissions in minutes. Soooooo glad you're both back making videos ❤. it's great we can hear Theresa so much clearer now too.
Several years ago, my brother raced Super Gas and I built the Glides for him and friends. We were pretty low budget, really, and broke a lot of stock cases. Every time, I had to build a trans. I made adapters to use T F filters so that looked pretty familiar. The aftermarket has come a long way, since we raced (20 +) years ago. I always enjoyed trans work.
Glad you two are doing well. You both sound like you're in a better place and happier. That's a lot of metal. I'll bet the converter had some issues and dumped a bunch of metal in the trans.
PT! I missed you all! Hope things are goin well, you all taught me the basics through your old channel and i think im ready to do a filter and fluid change on my vic (hopefully all goes well!) Thank yoy for everything you do, im glad to see you still make content as i missed your voices! Keep up the quality educational content and i wish nothing but good business and health for ya Cheers!
For some reason, I thought the DirtyBird was running a TH400. That’s so cool you are using an old school powerglide. I really look forward to seeing more videos of the DirtyBird. Rock on Richard!!🇺🇸
We hope you do well with your surgery and wish the best in recovery. Do not over do physical activities until you are well past recovery period. Most surgeries that fail to be 100% good are due to poorly followed recovery management by the patient. Keep your spirits up Richard...
Feel ya pain man. Literally just got my Dart ls next 427 with a crank drive procharger done and was having some pre track maintenance done and we have bearing material in the oil filter. So taking it all apart again.
Off to Memphis, 90 miles on 2 extra like new 1000cca battery's I brot with... just in case. The junk alternator is in the trunk... 1981 Pontiac Bonneville 350 Olds diesel
I would say the converter went bad and threw fine metal in the valve body wrecking the trannie. Happened to my 350 turbo and the fluid was silver. Mine would go forward in neutral when you rev the motor up. I was in the stating lines when I noticed it. Ran it threw the quarter mile and still had gears. Stopped before the trailer and rev it up in neutral still jump forward. Took the dipstick out it was silver and figured it was the converter. Took it apart and sure was the converter went to hell. What a mess to clean the trannie up but hurt nothing than just putting a rebuilt kit in it. Still have the same trannie in the car with a new converter in it 25 years ago. Just street drive it now and then with a 10 inch 4,000 to 4,500 converter with no problems since.
Its good to see you two again...stumbled on your new channel from a video that appeared from another video as it ended and those 12 videos appreared. I recognized Richard then looked at the thumbnail in detail and it was dated recently. Clicked on the thumbnail and arrived on the new channel. Looking back, this is fairly recent, about 3 to 4 months old. Subscribed of course but we're missing the story about the move...retired? Semi-retired yet working as a private shop?
Just a thought maybe epoxy Some magnets at the front of the pan and at the rear so if you’re accelerating the rear magnets might catch some of that metal gravel or if your decelerating maybe the front ones will get some of it I know harbor freight has some of those magnets for sale or you could bust open an old microwave stove and use some of those magnets room permitting though ! Just something I was Thunkin !
Man, when a guy with THAT much experience says he has no idea what happened with HIS OWN trans.... THAT is saying something. Glad to find more of your videos again. 👍
Richard, I haven't seen you use the Sonnax smart servos in any of the Powerglide's you have posted videos on. It fixes an inherent problem in all Powerglide's. Might be worth looking into.
Volume is too low...I've been watching all of your new videos and on one of your earlier videos, you mentioned you were trying the volume at 50% or something like that. I have to turn my volume way up to hear you and then when an ad comes on it just about blasts me out of the room.
Glad you're back. But I do wonder what happened. Seemed like perfect ecosystem before. I know it's not my business. I just hope nothing bad happened. Especially with family
I guess all it takes is one little piece of metal in the wrong place to cause it to ‘splode, and that looks like a very simple transmission compared to some of the others with “square hole, round hole” I’ve seen you work on, with those complicated valve bodies, drums and sprag assemblies.
So how are you going to remove the valve body valves without damaging the valve body? Maybe you could soak it in clean solvent in an ultra sonic cleaning tank?
after watching this video i remembered something from a Steve Morris video. i have two questions. did you have the car up on stands at any time and bump the trains brake? did you use the trains brake on the Dino? Steve talked about him doing this one time and destroyed his transmission. the reason his transmission builder told him is that it did not have the cars weight on the wheels to help hold things back or stop things from moving. just something i remembered.
Yes sir hundred percent just fixing to have a surgery right now so I’m gonna be laid back for just a little bit and then we’re going to get right back into it
Sent it kinda hard did you mate. ❤😂 On another note that nice red glittery metallic would look good on a paint jod. Not sure though which would cost more the paint job or tranny repairs. Have a good day.
My alternator died yest. 300 miles into my 600 mile day. China rear bearing failure. Never had a rear bearing fail in 45 years of older GM alternators. China junk
Ricard! You forgot to check the valvebody. How was it? Yeah, the tranny is toast of some reason. I hope you figure it out why that happened. Teresa and Annie would help you. Two heads is better than one sometimes.
The valve body was totally stuck manual valve was stuck trans brake valve was stuck no other valves in the valve body but the pressure regulator valve on the side we cleaned it to the valve body was very bad
Believe his son was the one that made the last channel, and kept it when he retired. Tbh im not entirly sure just missed the trans videos, but no i believe he is "retired" lol
Geez , just wondering if you have ever cut open a Converter to see if that is what may have caused a problem on a Transmission your working on ? Really curious ...........
Man I'm so glad I found yall again and I'm glad yall are back to doing videos! This is awesome!!
Same dude! I kept going back to the old channel hoping I’d see something…. I just got my first th350 and his videos come in handy biiiig time.

Welcome back Richard your knowledge was definitely missed by many
Keep smiling Richard , god bless both y’all
Oh my gosh, I thought you had given up on making videos! So happy to have stumbled on this channel!
For some reason, I thought the DirtyBird was running a TH400. That’s so cool you are using an old school powerglide. I really look forward to seeing more videos of the DirtyBird. Rock on Richard!!🇺🇸
Big shout out to Teresa!! Great video!
Powerglide steel is the strongest transmissions in the automotive industry
Bud Light had a tranny issue too.
Good one!😅
I’m happy to see y’all are back at making videos! I pray that y’all sort out the family dynamics.

Great to see you and Teresa are back again, Richard! 👍
I'm so happy you all back
I knew this day was coming! Welcome back!
Great to see you both back.!
Thanks for the video, man I feel your pain in your voice.
Glad to see you back on you-tube Richard!
That's crazy, when Richard don't know what happened. You will get it, good luck!
So great to find you back !
In the spirit of ‘play’, I cannot help from hearing inside my head the diabolical laughter at the beginning “Wipeout!”. Keep on keeping on!
Good to see y’all again. I missed something.
Riveting drama ! Very interesting as Always !

First full disassembly video since your comeback.. Good stuff as usual.
glad i found this channel. deffinatly enjoy watching the videos yall put out.
I unsubscribed from old channel and subscribed to this one.Not sure whats going on, but so glad I found you!!!!
I was worried the previous channel issues shut y'all off of videos for good! Just found yall again!
Sure glad to see you posting videos again. Keep it up y'all.
So happy to see you back Richard!

Might have gotten a COVID band.

I pray for my 4l60E everyday.
145,000 miles.
I got 188,000 out of mine in S10 and she gave up the rear shell - common failure. not too bad
Hard to believe but my truck is all original n has 282,000 miles on my 4l60e. Still going fine. Very hard to believe.

What's the chance the valve body had an internal leak and was pressurizing the band servo just enough to get it to drag and eat the drum?
Man, when a guy with THAT much experience says he has no idea what happened with HIS OWN trans.... THAT is saying something. Glad to find more of your videos again. 👍
big hp did it lol
Best A/T ever made on steroids. We could actually push start my 54 Belair at 15mph she'd start. Back in the day!
still have one in my 56 chevy
Richard, I haven't seen you use the Sonnax smart servos in any of the Powerglide's you have posted videos on. It fixes an inherent problem in all Powerglide's. Might be worth looking into.
I’m glad you say that one walked in the door this morning thanks to Sonnax
1st Brinkley Arkansas view
Really wanna see that valve body...
Sorry guys !!! Better parts and more fun next time!

Good to find this channel again .just wondering is it a good idea to re-use the oil that has been vaporized again as i was always told to dump it
When you play you play hard Richard
Are you ever going to do a front wheel drive auto trans?
Glad you're back. But I do wonder what happened. Seemed like perfect ecosystem before. I know it's not my business. I just hope nothing bad happened. Especially with family
Was something causing the fluid to be to slow draining out of the servo causing the band to release to slow
I may consider y'all for rear axle advice for my 2007 Classic Silverado. Im in Houston
If you figure out exactly what happened try to let us know I'm interested to know what causes that
I wonder if it had a hydraulic bleed to or from the low gear band. Or maybe the band was bad somehow and just couldn't hold.
Does Cody still work for you? Who does the R&R work?
Teresa My left arm
Richard, please get back to us with a full report if you figure out what the cause of this was.
Stumped the master?
Partially jammed on band, caused by something stuck in the valve body somewhere not allowing full release of the band actuator? My guess anyway.
Pin bias effect caused by the servo?
Brb. Goin to get a coffee. 👍🎩
Back. Lol.

Torque converter failing??
Should of separated the torque converter to see if the carnage began in there. You'll be back and running soon
Aftermarket billet case and tail shaft, what’s left of the OEM Powerglide?
Did you use a different type of fluid?
No sir we just use dextran three
Any reason why you dont use Redline 100% synthetic. Great company with high end oils

We didn’t use the trans brake on the Dino but we’re assuming we probably messed it up on the Dino car came off the Dino straight to the track
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542 if the Dino is a free spooling Dino and not a loading Dino then 100% yeppers.
Richard, are you still building transmissions for customers?
Yes sir hundred percent just fixing to have a surgery right now so I’m gonna be laid back for just a little bit and then we’re going to get right back into it
I am sure there are many that look forward to why it did that I my guess is you will figure it out. Take care.
Wow I wonder what happened😮
Sent it kinda hard did you mate. ❤😂 On another note that nice red glittery metallic would look good on a paint jod. Not sure though which would cost more the paint job or tranny repairs. Have a good day.
How's Annie doing?
Oh dirty bird has a big block Chevy, I assumed it was ls powered.
My alternator died yest. 300 miles into my 600 mile day. China rear bearing failure. Never had a rear bearing fail in 45 years of older GM alternators. China junk
Why would anyone use a gauze filter ?
Ricard! You forgot to check the valvebody. How was it?
Yeah, the tranny is toast of some reason. I hope you figure it out why that happened. Teresa and Annie would help you. Two heads is better than one sometimes.
The valve body was totally stuck manual valve was stuck trans brake valve was stuck no other valves in the valve body but the pressure regulator valve on the side we cleaned it to the valve body was very bad
sorry you had trans problems! hope you have much success with the car.
Just fill it full of caulk and put er back in. Lol just kidding. Wow that is bad.
I would say the band or drum had bad plating. If you kept records of that, buy a different lot number or different manufacturer.
Seeing the inside of the Trans..I’d be having the torqconverter inspected.
She's torn up bad. Maybe need more line pressure to keep it from slipping?? You're making too much power lol
Tim The Toolman Taylor would argue with you on that statement!!
Dollars to donuts its a converter failure..
Let us know.
Is your son still working with you in your shop
Richard it's funny but it's not right !
Just a bad part. It happens
Is son working woth you
Hope whoever built that trans gave you a warranty! 😂
I'm sure comments like this will be deleted, but what the hell happened! Watched religiously then yall just went away
omg he made his own channel no fuckin way.....
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. I NOT IN THE LOOP
What happened to the last one?
Believe his son was the one that made the last channel, and kept it when he retired. Tbh im not entirly sure just missed the trans videos, but no i believe he is "retired" lol
I'm curious too!
@@danking5382 Dad and son had disagreements which is when son left the old shop and went on his own.
