    Great video at the beginning! Lots of info to digest in this one. Probably my favorite, thanks. I enjoy the history of your dogs. My wife and daughter get a kick from their names. 😁

    Interested in your opinion. I have never had trash running dogs, except for once in a while they will strike on a fox. My dogs have never been on anything but lion and bobcats. Not even been on a drag. Just the real thing. What’s your opinion of why they might bump a fox ?

    • @BrettVaughnB100
      @BrettVaughnB100  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think at least down here a fox is closer to a cat then a canine .. I do know these greyfox will climb .. sometimes its hard to tell if your trailing a fox or a lion .. I've trailed foxes like we are working a lion and looked out in front and seen him

      Born 100 Years Too Late - I’ve had that same experience many times and I agree with what you’re saying 100%. Thanks again I really appreciate your opinion. Nobody around here Hunts like we do, so it’s nice to talk to somebody that understands what I’m thinking or the situations We may come across.

    Great video, reminds me of my old deer hunting unit in Arizona, #28. I was like your mule, only I did fall a number of times, ruined 2 rifle scopes rolling down the side of mountains. Really enjoy your videos

    Just curious why do you bob your hounds tail?

    • @BrettVaughnB100
      @BrettVaughnB100  ปีที่แล้ว

      When they are trailing they whip em back in forth and can hit the end on brush and make it bloody .. "Monkey Tail" .. thanks

    I want to know how you follow the dogs trying to trail, I ride my horse to an oftentimes find my self trying to keep up with the dogs but do you slow down your walk speed when they get started on a track or do you try to keep with them on the track?

    • @BrettVaughnB100
      @BrettVaughnB100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try to stay with them … when they have a loose I stay back let them try to figure it out sometimes I get off and walk around and help if it’s taking too long … thanks

    I caught a picture of a hound on my trail camera a year or two ago on my bear bait. What made it unusual, is that the dog was missing a hind leg. I haven't found out who the dog belonged to, but it surprised me a hound could still run bears and lions in steep mountain county with only three legs. Amazing how adaptable and tough dogs are. I don't see radio collars on your dogs. Do you use them or are you able to keep up with the dogs? Here, there is so much blown down timber and steep country, radio collars are a must. You can't keep up with them and loose dogs fast.
    Being close to Mexico, have you ever had trouble with people or maybe dogs crossing the boarder?
    We are on the Idaho/Montana line. Dogs crossing into Montana can be a problem here.

    • @BrettVaughnB100
      @BrettVaughnB100  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do use tracking collars ..I can pretty much keep up with the dogs here in the desert trailing lions but if you watch any of my older videos when I lived off grid at my camp it was all steep roadless country that was difficult to get around in so I really depended on the tracking collars more. I don't typically don't get that close to Mexico so that hasn't been a concern but there is some other country west of here I would like to hunt and it might become a concern over there.. .Yeah dogs are tough and these hounds are double tough ..not much will keep them from hunting ... Thanks!

    I’m a lion hunter my self in northern Arizona. Do you ever plan to come hunt up here in the snow? At this time I’m just dry ground hunting.

    • @BrettVaughnB100

      Born 100 Years Too Late yes I really love your videos. We rarely hunt in the snow. My partner likes the snow but I don’t cause you can’t ride a horse in deep snow. I love to dry ground hunt. It’s slow. And can watch your dogs.

    Not sure why you would want to kill such a beautiful creature, if anything keep them alive their numbers are dropping
