    Dorico team - this is an excellent addition, and free as well. Terrific stuff all round. 👍👍

    This is a great addition to Dorico, especially for the Elements users like myself, who only use the stock sound library. Now you can get the sound of the playing techniques like piz, which you couldn't get from the Elements sound library before. So both thumbs up from me! 👍👍

    This is so amazing, with the trumpet voice, flute and other instruments.

    Great update. I hope you've addressed a problem that I've found with Dorico: the staccato notation seems to come with an additional attack or accent. This is not a feature of staccato as I understand it. I've had to work around this by (for example) replacing staccato quarter notes with eighth notes separated by eighth rests.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It might depend on the instrument but often there is a different patch/technique that it switches to for staccato. You can also reduce the dynamic level in the expression map for that technique if that would help.

    One thing I was waiting to see, while you were demonstrating the key switch section, is if you could record from that section. Because being able to activate new switches is handy.

    Am I mistaken that the technology behind Note Performer (and the latest MuseScore) is leaps and bounds ahead of this in terms of quickly and realistically reproducing the nuances of a score with almost zero effort? It just seems like for notation it might be better to embrace that approach (ideally by having something like this built-in) rather than the “Play Mode tweaking, DAW-piano roll approach. At the least, I’d be curious to know what percentage of users who value playback are opting for Note Performer versus using any of these built-in sounds.

    Lovely. Looking forward to trying this out. However, where are the saxophones??? Why are they always left out?

    Overall: First, I do not see how you select Iconica Sketch in Dorico. But, it sounds really great. But some remarks: I'm missing the Saxophone family. And the Contrabass Clarinet. And, I learned in the 1980ties that the double bass goes lower than the C2 which I have seen here: it's lowest note is even 1 semitone lower. I'd been hoping for that...

    I'm trying the iPad IOS version and the Iconica instruments default to staccato and the "e" icon to access the Halion page to change articualtions is NOT visible in the 5.1 IOS version. I tried a MOD wheel to see if that might cycle to another articulation but it does not. I think the IOS 5.1 version is missing some features at this point. Hopefully, I'm just missing the essential clue to access the configuration page on an iPad.

    I'm so much looking forward to exploring this! It seems very responsive to velocity and mod wheel. Aftertouch wasn't mentioned, but I'm not sure it would be very useful given the mod wheel response.

    8:56 please slowly: how do you switch between the different percussion instruments? They sound amazing, but I can't see how you do it.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably don't normally need to play them from the keyboard like that, you can use add the percussion instruments in Dorico and it will work out which notes to use for playback. However if you want to look at the Library > Percussion Map for Iconica you can see all the instruments and associated notes.

    Question: I have several orchestral VSTs and I often use them alongside other ensembles. I would like to create a template that I can insert into a project, kind of like a track preset in Cubase. Is this possible? In Cubase I have track presets for each ensemble and add what I need. Ex. Rock band + Iconica Orchestra.

    • @dorico
      @dorico  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can create a playback template that contains a number of libraries: th-cam.com/video/EmsdZ_34pS0/w-d-xo.html

    • @superblondeDotOrg

      @@ladyville3 Because saxophone is a very important instrument. Because no composer can get Orchestra pieces performed so writing for traditional Orchestra is useless. Because composers can write for Wind Band which features Saxophone and get pieces performed. Because Wind Band which always includes Saxophone is the most popular form of Orchestral performance today in the USA and continues to grow in popularity. Because many eager young performers develop their musicianship on Saxophone through grade school and high school then look for music scores from modern composers to perform. Because Orchestra is SUPPOSED to evolve to include modern instruments, not remain rigidly stuck in the 1800's, and Saxophone has proven to be a superior instrument with unique capabilities beyond older Brass or older Winds instruments. Because young/current audiences want to hear Saxophone in composed music and have wanted to hear Saxophone for the past FIFTY+ years. Because Saxophone players are forward-looking and have significant talents to offer in the composed music performance. Because Saxophones are excellent for both soloing and blending. Because it is 2024 and not 1824!
