Farmer on the Prairie is about my life on our central Illinois farm. My name is Seth and I am a young farmer with the desire to get things done and to keep the farm running smoothly. The farm is 740 row crop acres and 100 acres of pasture. We run about 100 grass-fed cattle and 1500 meat birds a year. Throughout my videos, you will get to know Dad, MommaD, and Sister. My brothers Josiah and Luke help us whenever there is a big project so they can feel important. We also have a part time employee Ben who is the comic relief. Because so many different things happen on our farm, there is never a dull moment. So tap that Subscribe button and come along for the ride!

Don't worry about how you pronounce anything. Stay natural. Do not get down reading comments. Some trolls are sitting in their parent's basement doing nothing with their lives except for trying to make others feel down.

The 66 series is awesome. At one point in my life I was pretty sure that my backside was going to be permanently shaped like the seat of a 1066.

Hi Seth, I really like your programs about daily work on the farm. It is hard work every day from morning to night. New technologies, machines and ways of working are constantly being introduced. You are an intellectual and know so much. Sometimes I see you feel tired. You are a nice smart man. Farmer on the Prairie, a very nice name for your meetings with us. Sometimes I would like to come to you and help you absolutely for free. My office is bordered by a small farm and sometimes I say hello to Jersey's four cows. I wish you all the best.

Your videos cause me to think of summers 50 years ago on my grandparents’ farm. At 12 y.o., I felt like a “big shot” driving the John Deere pulling the wagons the high school guys would load the bales of straw upon. As far as cleaning the barn stalls, a pitch fork and walking back-n-forth to the manure spreader parked outside the door was the only way. Good, hard work never hurt anyone. That farm was only 200 acres; yours is soooooo much larger. Beautiful scenery. Thank you!!!

Hi Seth! That 1466 sounds great, what a beautiful tractor! Now I understand what straw is, thanks for the explanation! And thanks for taking the time to record and post videos for us to enjoy. They are great with beautiful footage, no matter how you pronounce things, just keep doing what you're doing!!

At 2:26 there is a beautiful view of the prairie. I grew up on the Iowa side of the Mississippi River and one thing occurred to me from this view: growing up- you probably didn't do much snow sledding, or toboggan riding in the snow in the winter. Would you know what a saucer is? Other than Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation? LOL. And, actually you pronounce manure the same way I've always heard it- some of the other farmer channels seem to have a Canadian spin on the way they pronounce manure. Great channel!

Many moons ago a new 966 was one of our big horses on the farm. Those 66 series are pretty darn good tractors but sure don’t have any modern conveniences. My only IH anymore is an 886 I use for chores.

A few videos back when you were harvesting the wheat, I was kinda wondering if you did anything with the straw or just let it go back to mulch on the field. Glad to see you are getting some good use our of it!
Oh, and your accent and the way you pronounce things, that is part of your charm!!

Do you ever lose track of where you've already spread manure? When I was kid, my dad always "let me" go and get the tractor for him in the morning. That way I'd have dried the dew off the seat for him. I learned real quick to bring a dry rag with me and wipe the seat off first.
