I’m so glad the Fellowship will be complete soon! I hope the line continues and we’ll get the Witch King etc

Same, I'm glad the line has seen enough success that we'll have a complete fellowship. I'm hyped for more announcements

I'm sad that early figures were so bad in terms of accessories. Legolas is appalling in lack of articulation and gear (capes!!!!). Sure he got the blades in Gollum but his hands won't even hold them lol.

@@AlecFortescue i guess they got the Sauron piece instead

@@AlecFortescue I'm with you. I'm torn between tracking down Legolas and holding out hope that they'll do a new one. What makes it harder is that I just found Gollum with the bonus accessories and it sucks not having a Legolas for those knives!

For Boromir and Samwise (or anyone else with the issue) a little bit of blue tac should hold their scabbards on. Obviously glue will work as well as a permanent solution.
I’m just glad that I didn’t have to heat and pop the figure to get any of the accessories on (like with Lurtz and Boromir). Now those two look perfect and it was worth the effort but I thought it a bit much for out of the box. That Boromir dagger is worthless and I’ll probably just cut the hilt off and glue it to the scabbard and blue tac it on as well.
Samwise is one of the absolute best in the line overall. Having the shoulder straps pop out is great and I’m glad I watched your video to discover that before possibly messing anything up.
I may even trim the peg on the one hand so that it will port into Frodo’s wrist.
    Thanks for the review!!

Really good review, I have all the Build a Figure Sauron Figures because I really wanted that Sauron. Im going to try to get all the others aswell, but its very fast out of stock and also a bit pricy.
I really want to see a good Witchking.

Arwen or Eowyn in their battle outfits would be cool to see also.

I am so happy that other people are noticing that this is a ROTK Sam look! He is sorely lacking the greenish jacket. This is a great figure - but it's not a fully accurate FOTR version.
Same feelings as the Boromir fig regarding the scabbard (and Aragorn and the Nazgul for that matter!). I have had to superglue the Boromir and Sam scabbards. The Nazgul one I kinda tuck in inside his robes. Aragorn I give a pass on that as he already comes with one at least (even if it is his Dunedain/Strider one).
As for other figures - I'd love for them to actually complete the Fellowship line. I know they have Merry and Pippin coming up too, which is great, but then they are jumping STRAIGHT to ROTK with Eoywn and the Witch-King! I feel like we still have FOTR figures to do: Elrond, Galadriel, Old Bilbo as the biggest names.
Apart from that - I'd really, REALLY want them to do The Hobbit sets. Get us all 13 members of Thorin's company (which Bridge Direct never managed to do back in the day, sadly), Radagast, Thranduil, Azog, etc.

Nice. Thanks for the review. I missed the pins in the backpack and was wondering how he could wear the cloak and the pack at the same time. Agree with you about the scabbards. It's really puzzling that there's no way to attach them to some of the figures. I've superglued a few on, but that's hardly ideal. I really like this range (I have almost all of them), but they always seem to fall short from how epic they could be.

The Legolas does have articulation issues, but it looks so good just standing with the others. I just want them standing together like when Elrond announces that they are the Fellowship of the Ring and not in any dynamic battle poses, so I'm fine with the lack of articulation.

I might just try and track Legolas down, it's gonna bug me having a full fellowship minus him

@@christakrenko Make sure you get the Gollum special fig too! It adds the twin Sindarin daggers + another throwing axe for Gimli.

I have all the figures of this line so far - except for the newest releases. Yes that includes the 2 Gollums. I get why people hate Legolas and I agree, mine however has the same tone as the rest of the figures and none that pinkness mentioned. The problem with the capes does bother me and I have talked to DS directly regarding this whether they are willing to at least release a pack of capes for the figures that don't have them. I am fine getting them that way too. No plans for the time being of doing that unfortunately. As for the last bit - I am not a fan of redoing figures of the same line, if they want to do that - start a new line and improve. But that's my opinion.

I'd definitely prefer to see a new version if Legolas as opposed to a remake of the same figure. I was thinking a Helms Deep version would be cool

16:52 I must say the gimli and Gandalf the Grey are amazing and definitely worth buying, and if you have it, the old toybiz Legolas shortswords fit the Diamond selects fig

Got Sam the other day, fantastic figure. It made me realize how low was the effort they put on the Frodo one whit that outfit and the lack of accessories, what a shame man, i know is impossible for them to redo Frodo but he will stand odd alongside the rest of the fellowship.

  • @AlecFortescue
    @AlecFortescue 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

They should include cloaks for others in future figures like with gollums accessories. Pippin and Merry defo should come with cloak at the very least for Frodo! Once we get the Fellowship, i personally would love aragorn in his hauberk from two towers.

For the most part I like this line more than their Toy Biz counterparts. A lot of them are REALLY stiff, which can make them less fun to play with, but I think the better aesthetics are worth it. It's a shame they couldn't be better executed, but I really appreciate what they're trying to be.
With that said, their Legolas figure is terrible, and the Toy Biz Helm's Deep Legolas is still the one I use, and I think is better than any of the Diamond Select figures. It's wild how good that one figure from the original line is. It looks great with the Diamond figures.
Also the Nazgul is kind of trash. The sculpt looks a little nicer than the Toy Biz ones, but it's so non-functional that it's kind of pointless. All it can do is stand there in a vanilla pose. One of these days I'm gonna cut all of the stiff plastic robes off of it and redo it with softgoods. The tattered look of their robes would be very forgiving for customizing.

I still have my Helms Drrp Legolas too, I love that thing. I'm just glad we've seen notable improvements with each release, it has me really optimistic about the line moving forward.

As I also collect the Indiana Jones line, I tried using my unwanted dial of destiny indiana jones figure (bought for the build an artifact piece) arms and removable vest to turn Sam into the Fellowship Sam. The arm pegs fit perfectly and although the brown jacket isn't quite the correct grey colour, it definitely gives a more fellowship appearance than the TT or RotK look.

The frying pan that came with the Marion Ravenwood figure in the Indy range is also a great accessory for Sam!

Actually the arms and suit vest from the DoD Indy figure Voller works a lot better than Indy's leather jacket on Sam . I did have to snip the arm pegs to fit the whole but easy. The Voller figure is also likely on clearance.
