I'm so glad she she said benin is the origin of civilization . This is very true . This is the first time I've seen an african coronation especially a Benin oba coronation. I can see some of the guest are kings from other regions and countries. It's great to see royalty from benin ,hausa, yoruba, and Igbo celebrating together. Nigeria and benin is rich in culture

Well said, though all the Monarchs (Kings) present were from the North, South, East and West of Nigeria 🇳🇬. There were no foreign kings present only foreign ambassadors of other countries.

    CAPACITY
    Unlike Benin City
Capacity is not the name of a city
But is what you need to build a city
Capacitate yourself with the necessary capacity
And you can build your desired city
Even in the face of adversity
I salute the ancients of the ancient city
    Whose capacity built Benin City
Benin City, the land of my ancestry
Benin City, the land of my nativity
Benin City, home sweet home to me
Cradle of ancient civilization, Benin City
Where the Oba is king truly
I recall in their first visits to Benin City
The white parties did marvel at the city
    Because in building Benin City
    Its ancients exhibited capacity
    I don't crave for a city
    I only crave for capacity
    If I have capacity
    I can build a city
Even in the face of adversity

Paul Philip To you Benin people, your Story may be right but to the Yoruba people your story is Wrong. The Ooni of Ife is far greater than the Oba of Benin, because it was from Ife they brought Obaship to Berlin and the thrown the Ooni of ife is sitting on top is the throne of the King of Ife and from Ife and it was the same thrown Oduduwa sät upon, the Yoruba people crowed the first Oba of Benin. Before the greatness of Benin Ife was great, the greatness of Benin started when Oranmiyan came to Benin with the Yoruba people not during the Ogiso era and not when Benin was called igodimigodo. Oranmiyan was an Ife prince not Benin prince, his mother was a Yoruba woman and he never had any relationship with Benin until he brought Obaship to Benin neither can he speak Benin language, he named Benin with Yoruba language and his son Eweka Was named with Yoruba words Owomika which was corrupted to Eweka. Before Oduduwa came to Ife there was Obatala and other Obas have also ruied Ile Ife. Oduduwa met the throne of Ife when he came to Ife, during the reign of Oduduwa, it was true that the Ooni was a preist, but Oduduwa himself gave him the right to sit on the throne he sät on, the Ife has been existing before the arrival of Oduduwa. The first Alafin of Oyo was not the second son of Oranmiyan, the first Alafin of Oyo was Oramiyan himself, so the first Oba of Benin was the son of Oranmiyan who founded Oyo, though Oranmiyan established the Oba thrown of Benin before he founded Oyo but There was Oba in Ile Ife before Benin. The Yoruba people know there history and they are not forcing it on any other tribe in Nigeria, the Yoruba people are only stating the facts. The Story of the Benin people has always been been unacceptable .by the Yoruba people ,Ife is far older than Benin as well.Oduduwa himself has no relationship with Benin according to the history of the Yoruba people. If the Benin people agreed that Oramiyan started Obaship in Benin and the Yoruba people changed the name of Benin with Yoruba, these two activities has proved the supremacy of the Ife people over Benin people without no doubt

He impregnated a woman before he left. Oranmiyan later left Benin to found Oyo Alaafin and refer to Benein as the land of vexation means Ile Ibinu (Ibinu Kpabi). The City adopted the name Ile-Ibinu but when the European came they could not call the name but call the city Benin. Till today they call Benin City. The love people pleaded with Oranmiyan not to leave was very annoyed with the situation and promise not to have another King until Oranmiyan wife give birth. He later gave birth and named Eweka meaning the Oranmiyan has came back. And Eweka became king at a tender age. Till today the Eweka dynasty still ruling in Benin. Called Oba Of Benin.

Ekaladeran (what the Yoruba call Ododuwa) was a Benin or Igodomigodo Prince who left ( due to some circumstances) Benin to found Ile- ife kingdom who later sent his first son called ORAMIYAN to Igodomigodo/Benin. ORAMIYAN later left Igodomigodo/Benin Kingdom to found Oyo Kingdom although before leaving he impregnated a Enogie ( Duke) daughter who gave birth to Eweka. Therefore, the Benins/Igodomigodos are the Ruler of Ile-ife and Oyo Kingdom in now called Yoruba land ( which was given to them by Hausa traders). Btw, I'm not Benin but the truth must be told.

This is very false, First of all, there is no such thing as “Izoduwa”, “Idoduwa”, “Imadoduwa”, or “Omonoyan” in Benin oral tradition. Neither was any oduduwa banished as collected by earlier benin writings ekaladerhan and oduduwa are completely different personalities
These are only present in Benin forged stories which were invented in the 1970s. I would clarify.
Historians, for example, name these forged stories [of “Izoduwa”, “Idoduwa”, “Imadoduwa”, or “Omonoyan”] as the Benin “deliberately unauthentic” stories.
Do historians regard these stories as forgery simply because they woke up on the wrong side of the bed feeling that way? Obviously not.
These [“Izoduwa”, “Idoduwa”, “Imadoduwa”, or “Omonoyan”] stories are found to be forgeries for the simple reason that much earlier documented Benin tradition debunks these stories.
For example, some eighty (80) years before these [“Izoduwa”, “Idoduwa”, “Imadoduwa”, or “Omonoyan”] stories were invented, Mr. Cyril Punch had documented the Benin tradition about Ekaladerhan.
Mr Cyril Punch’s documentation of the tradition about Ekaladerhan around the year 1889 (and quoted in Roth 1903) shows categorically that Ekaladerhan has absolutely nothing to do with Ife.
The beginning and ending of the Ekaladerhan episode from Mr Cyril Punch’s documentation as quoted in H. L. Roth, 1903, pp. 53-54. is as follows:
Ekaladerhan fled Benin due to a grave scandal; he then founded the kingdom of Ughoton; he ultimately reached a mutual solemn compromise with Benin, namely that:
His “independent sovereignty” is allowed at his new kingdom of Ughoton, the Binis eventually allowed him his independence at Ughoton - the only condition they gave was that he is not allowed to return to Benin.
Following this documentation of the Benin episode of Ekaladerhan (which shows both his independent sovereignty at Ughoton and his truce with Benin); Chief Egharevba also grew up to independently collect the same tradition about Ekaladerhan some fifty (50) years after Punch.
It took another 80+ years after Punch for some Binis(Omoregie 1970, Edebiri 1970, Akenzua 1971, and Iyare 1973) to to attempt a reversal of the already documented Benin episode of Ekaladerhan which the Oba being coronated in view now popularized
The first of these Bini equates Ekaladerhan as one and the same person with Oranmiyan. However, those who followed his lead thought it was better to equate him with Oduduwa instead.
The extant, classical and “official” Benin account is that Ife founded your Oba monarchy.
It wasn’t until the 1970s that some binis claimed that Ekalderhan is Oduduwa. The first of this said ekaladerhan was oranmiyan by chief omoregie then at the time of the coronation of the oba in view ekaladerhan was now oduduwa himself.
Even going by Benin sources (the earliest indigenous Benin sources on the subject for that matter), says the Ogiso chiefdom dynasty itself of “Benin” was sent from Ife to benin
Many years ago, Oduduwa of Ile-Ife sent a son - who took the title of Ogiso - with a large retinue from Ife to found a kingdom in this part of the world. ~ Chief Obakhavbaye of Benin, J. U. Egharevba, “A Short History of Benin,” (1936), p. 7.
Furthermore, Oduduwa(odu to da iwa.. The source or creator of being or wisdom) is a yoruba name with a meaning in the language. There's no record of any ekaladerhan in ife or anything indigenous benin in ife. Where oduduwa came from is very clear it was the hilly settlement of oke-ora near the ife bowl this is collected in ife oral history, instead we see a lot of yoruba-ife influences in the benin monarchy for example in the praise appellation of the oba for instance; ovbi adimula(son of adimula(a title of Oduduwa), Abieyuwa N’Ovbi Odua N’uhe
The son of the wealthy Odua of Uhe(Ife), you don't see ekaladerhan or some izoduwa there.
Also the names of the past kings of benin which can't be broken down etymologically in bini i.e ewuare formerly prince OGUN then became ewuare(ewu-a-re.... trouble has ceased) ogidigan(o-gi-di-gan means it is very great or tough in yoruba) the bini dictionary itself is filled with a lot of words which are clearly referenced from the yoruba language. The ugie oduduwa festival celebrates oduduwa and oranmiyan and not ekaladerhan or ogiso owodo
