    It was a easy school all you have to do is be able too run. Then sent to 82nd then requested special forces school. Both were at ft. Bragg went to sofas passed then Q school, graduated got my tab and green beret, sent to 5th group then deployed to Vietnam for two years. This was 1969.

    I have a question! So when you land on the ground are you literally going limp and falling onto the ground or do you try to land on your feet when you get close to landing??

    • @TheBenAllen.
      @TheBenAllen.  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Exactly what they said, go limp, when you land.

    • @era_of_tech
      @era_of_tech 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The term is called a PLF, while landing under a parachute canopy, the jumper's feet strike the ground first and, immediately, he throws himself sideways to distribute the landing shock sequentially along five points of body contact with the ground:
      the balls of the feet
      the side of the calf
      the side of the thigh
      the side of the hip, or buttocks
      the side of the back
      Very effective method.

    I went from 6 ft- 1 in. To straight up 6ft. First jump from 2500ft malfunction cigarette roll in. I didn't check my canopy. Black hats hollered for my to pull my reserve but I didn't know they were yelling at me. Obviously I survived I'm texting. No broken bones and I ran off of the DZ. Ambulance drove past me expecting to pick up a body. My next jump I did everything right, thanks to experience off 1 jump cold beer and 3 big bottles of absorbin Jr.

    Can I get into airborne with a rod and plate in my leg? Doesn’t affect me at all, no pain, no loss of range of motion. Everything is good. What’s the likelihood of me being able to get into that school ?

    • @mrblack7302
      @mrblack7302 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That in itself is disqualifying for the army. I recommend going to a recruiter and seeing if you can get a waiver. I can guarantee that you won’t be allowed to do an airborne physical. However exemptions to policies do exist and is how I got in but I didn’t have any leg issues. As long as the etp goes through you should be able to skip the physical. I don’t know the chances of having the rod get waived unfortunately

      I have a slight fear/vertigo of heights and made it through. The hardest problem was the 34 foot tower. One can still see gravel and grass. Got through the initial jumping by focusing on my toes. At higher heights, everything is just colors, you can't see gravel and blades of grass so the dizzy feeling is not there as much.

    • @96Delta
      @96Delta ปีที่แล้ว

      You won't if you follow your training. The problem today is that they load troopers up with so much gear they literally waddle to the door. That kind of load can cause injuries. Most training jumps are Hollywood (no gear) or light gear (rifle only). They are no sweat. But when you are carrying a full deployment load, you can barely walk. The chutes were redesigned to accommodate that weight but there's always a tradeoff. Just focus on doing excellent PLF's and you'll be fine. Them bitches tried to give me an M203 and I declined. No way I was gonna be able to carry a full combat load and grenades with that thing! Whew! AIRBORNE!
