The whole Oceania pacific region are descendants of the austronesian people. Look it up, starting from Taiwan to the Philippines, all of the Micronesia, Polynesia as well as part of Melanesia. The language throughout time has changed and evolved that’s why there are similar words that mean the same or similar things in different cultures.
I've heard Tonga had a unique fighting style that went away because the early missionaries said it was too barbaric and encouraged people to stop practicing it. I'm not sure how true that is but stories like these make me think about how much knowledge and history we've potentially lost either because of outside forces or the lack of a writing system to record what really happened.
