      The first one missed a serious issue it perpetuated: misogyny. Honey bees are almost entirely *female* ; drones are produced in the spring for the sole purpose of mating (they die afterward), and any remaining drones are ejected from the hive. They have no sting and cannot feed themselves so they soon die. Honey bee society in no way shape or form resembles human society. So why on earth would you make a movies concerning honey bees where the protagonist and half of the population are male? The answer is because it was Jerry Seinfeld's idea, so he wanted to star in it, biology be damned, and for some godawful reason, Steven Spielberg thought that was a great idea. For someone who has kept bees, however, it is completely unwatchable. Antz suffers from the same problem. Ant soldiers, are, like every other worker in the colony, are female. Drones are produced for mating, and die shortly after.

      I mean, it's kinda self explanatory that a movie from the late 90s would do a better job at handling slavery than a movie from the 40s. if anything, it shows how far society has come.
      Moreover, they're not blinded by guilt (personally, i think white americans should stop whining about feeling guilty for what happened and focus on actual amends), so nothing about Egyptian slavery pressures them to water this event down.

    Honorable Mention:
    *Oversaturation - Trolls World Tour
    -Basically, the film's villain, Queen Barb, simply wants to make rock the dominant genre. The problem? Well, she chooses to go about it by hostile takeover and brainwashing all other trolls into rocker-zombies.
    Now don't get me wrong, I, LOVE, rock and heavy metal! They're among my favorite music genres. But the film does highlight the issue of oversaturation in the music industry. When pop came along and exploded all over the place, rock seemingly died out. Although rock still had a dedicated following, It's place was almost always overshadowed by pop. And to be honest, is THIS what the music industry is supposed to be about? Destroying every other genre and creative outlet just so that YOUR genre can find success?

    Shrek and Fiona being judged on looks was important by then, but in the 1995 THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME it was okay for Phoebus to be good because he was good-looking (in contrast to the source novel);
    THE PRINCE OF EGYPT says it was wrong to enslave Hebrew in the Bronze Age (as opposed to Egypt's other subject nationalities?) but shouldn't this be extrapolated to how the British Em;ire got super-rich on slavery and then that America's Founding Fathers were okay with it (apart from blaming it on the British in the Declaration of Independence) at a time that slavery had been banned in at least mainland Britain,m and subsequently doing away with the trade and ultimately the empire while even part of the USA hadn't got round to abolition.

    With The Prince of Egypt, when his 'father' tells him they are only slaves, he didn't mean it in a bad way. To Moses, it's bad, but that wasn't the goal. Pharaoh's words were meant to comfort him, like saying 'Don't worry, it's only a scratch' when a child falls and scratches their knee. Problem is, to Moses, this was viewed as 'Don't worry, they're not considered people. You are because we adopted you, but if we hadn't then you would've joined them.' So, what was meant to be comfort from father to son, was actually a blade that stabbed Moses in his heart.

    A more mature and darker storyline that realistically depicts serious issues. With "Prince" it's slavery with "Hunchback" it's prejudice and profiling. But, keep in mind that the former is a Biblical story found in the book of Exodus. I honestly think the filmmakers wanted to tell the story but make sure that it was something that could also appeal to children and adults. That's why I think "The Prince of Egypt" is DreanWorks' greatest masterpiece.
