This was really interesting and I enjoyed listening to a first hand experience of someone living in Egypt. I do however wonder whether anti blackness as a concept has been appropriately defined including the parameters i.e what constitutes anti blackness and what doesnt. I'm south Asian and would consider the light skin being looked upon more favourably than black skin as rooted in anti blackness in my culture . I understand that there is already a very basic definition but I'm sure it can be unpacked a bit more so we can determine what's pure ignorance and what's anti blackness as the former seems 'less strong'. I don't know enough about Egyptian society and I'm definitely ignorant about the black experience in Egypt but I wouldn't hesitate to classify some elements of their culture as anti black..
This is a colonial mindset. A consequence of colonisation. Desire to be fair skinned, with light eyes and an aqualine nose like the European colonisers. And adopting the colonisers disgust of what looks indigenous and ethnic.
We need more content like this. Great job guys, very articulate. Proud of where you're both going!
