I'm pretty sure he chose to be independent. I remember he had a lot of exposure at the same time as Sam Smith. Back in the day when Sam made great music, i guess he is kinda getting back to his roots now. I love Jamie because he cares more about the music than actual fame and money.
I've heard this song once before at a party in 2012 and thought it was very catchy. After that I forgot about it completely. Now in 2021 it popped into my mind out of nowhere and went on a mission searching for it and I gotta say, this song aged very well like a good Scotch and have been listening to it for days in a row now. Absolute Talent Mr. Woon! Cheers from the Netherlands

I heard this song years ago. Still listening in 2023. Jamie hears our souls. He hears the souls of the planet and sll of creation. He hears my soul. I hope he is still making music.
Night air has the strangest flavor Space to breathe and time to savor All that night air has to lend me Till the morning makes me angry In the night air The night air I've acquired a kind of madness Daylight fills my heart with sadness Only silent skies can soothe me Feel that night air flowing through me In the night air The night air I don't need those car crash colors I control the skies above us Close my eyes to make the night fall Comfort of a world revolving I can hear the earth in orbit In the night air The night air I've acquired a taste for silence Darkness fills my heart with calmness And each thought like a thief is driven To steal the night air from the heavens In the night air The night air
I found this song through the Volor Flex remix. Original sounds proper as well 👌. Love the female chorus acapella, lyrics and even the instrumental, the bass and those fine percussions. First time I see the official video. After looking at it and knowing a tiny bit about photography and videography, I can say they invested quite a bit in making these shots. Lighting up a forest like that requires some strong professional lighting. Those low light macro shots of the mantis also. Not every camera and lens is capable of producing such images. Hats down for everyone who took part in creating this fine art piece! To Jamie and his team of professionals! 🤌🎩
A truly authentic, creative musician and singer. His voice is so easy and natural, it's always a pleasure to listen to. Love the minimalist accompaniment too.
i miss you jamie woon. you have been my favorite artist for the last 10 years. no one will ever take your place of #1. you are an artist of a different dimension. you are spectacular.
I never get bored of this song, ever, and I've been listening to it for the past 2 years almost every day. I love everything about it. It describes me too well.
This is one of those songs that sticks with me hard and I need to play a million times in a row to make it sound like a normal song again... and that's tragic.
I am a night owl, I always was. Hell, it is 1 in the morning and I just started, I spent mos of my life being an night owl even as a kid. This song really speaks to me, I never get bored by this song. You can tell that he does most of his music at night time and that he is a night owl because man... I never heard someone describe the night time soo good as he does, the lyrics are just on point and poetic. Would like to hear more similar songs, anyone knows any similar one?
+Arianit Haxha High five from another one who feels strongly for this song! And who tends to stay up late. Sounds I know and whose atmosphere I found spontaneaously at least a *little* similar to Night Air: - Craig Armstrong's "Af if to Nothing" album - Portishead' "Dummy" album - parts of Gotye's "Making mirrors" album, p.e. "Don't worry, we'll be watching you" - parts of Eurythmics`"Sweet Dreams" and "Touch" albums, p.e. "This city never sleeps" - the song "Losing sleep" (he, I sense a pattern) by Vangelis - the song "One step too far" by Faithless - the song "Drinking and driving" by Jhene Aiko Many of them lack the gentle club beat Night Air has, though. Checking webpages like allmusic for Jamie and then search for his influences or similar music there might also give you some nice results.
+Arianit Haxha This isn't similar because it's Liquid Drum n Bass, but it's really good and melodic and as a fellow night owl, I relate to it. It's called Night Thought by Kove
This song appears to be a deep, emotional, and atmospheric reflection on the night and its calming effect on the narrator. The repeated mention of the "night air" likely symbolizes not just the physical experience of the nighttime air but also the emotional and mental release that the narrator finds in the darkness and silence of the night. Interpretation: Contrast between Night and Day: The song presents a strong contrast between night and day. Daylight is described as a source of "madness" and "sadness," whereas the night brings calm, silence, and peace. This might serve as a metaphor for how society or the day-to-day life weighs down on the narrator, with the night offering a sense of escape or a time for reflection and solace. Longing for Silence and Darkness: There’s a clear preference for the silence and darkness of the night. Lines like "I've acquired a taste for silence" and "Darkness fills my heart with calmness" suggest that the narrator finds comfort and contentment in the night, as opposed to the chaotic nature of the day. The darkness is portrayed not as something frightening but rather soothing, a source of peace. Night as Renewal: The night offers a form of redemption and emotional cleansing. Darkness is not depicted as threatening, but comforting, and the phrase "I don't need those car crash colors" emphasizes the rejection of the loud, overwhelming aspects of daytime life. Connection to Nature and the Cosmos: There's also a connection to nature and the cosmos, especially in the line "I can hear the earth in orbit." This suggests a deep awareness of the universe and emphasizes the sense of solitude, yet belonging, that the narrator feels in the night. Existential Reflection: The lyrics hint at deeper introspection. The night provides the narrator with space to detach from daily concerns and possibly contemplate existential thoughts. It seems like the night is used as a way to confront or process bigger questions in life. Overall, the song emphasizes the peace and contemplation that the night provides and how it helps the narrator escape the chaos and emotional weight of the day. It’s about the search for inner calm and finding a refuge in the darkness and stillness of the night.

All that night air has to lend me
Till the morning makes me angry

Daylight fills my heart with sadness
Only silent skies can soothe me
Feel that night air flowing through me
In the night air

I don't need those car crash colors
I control the skies above us
Close my eyes to make the night fall
Comfort of a world revolving
I can hear the earth in orbit
In the night air
The night air
I've acquired a taste for silence
Darkness fills my heart with calmness
And each thought like a thief is driven
To steal the night air from the heavens
In the night air
The night air
