And now may Michael K. Williams also RIP. One of the greatest actors of this generation gone way too soon. One of the craziest things in Omar's story not only really happened to Donnie Andrews, but was even more unbelievable. There was an Omar type of guy from Chicago then he moved to Minneapolis, MN is where he passed away ! Everybody know him as Spider Lloyd the younger brother of Willie Lloyd who was the leader of Vice Lords ! In both cities and there could have possibly been a third town where he liked to go chill like in Iowa or Missouri ! Whenever someone had spotted Spider Lloyd somewhere then suddenly this news would get around very quickly exactly just like how Omar did on the Wire ! He could just be seen passing by in a 🚙 on his way to get some groceries : " I just seen Spider "and mostly eveyone's first response would usually always be "Where did you see him at ? " with a very nervous look on all of their faces !
I urge everyone I know that has yet to watch the Wire to do so. I even warn them of the at times slow burn storytelling because it's something that you need to commit to and pay close attention to to get the most out of this series. Though I always know Omar will be the reason they end up following through the entire series once they meet that iconic character of TV. Like most fiction, the best stories are always inspired by real life. I admit the attraction to being a stick up man as a extralegal profession but how it ends isn't worth it unless you're lucky like Donnie Andrews was and lived a long life for a man of his doings, gotta love how he managed to reform himself and became a force for good. The ending of this show showing Michael becoming the "next generation Omar," always had me dying for more of his story. Basically this high risk/high reward profession deserves more representation in crime dramas because it's inherently riveting with the highest stakes, is what I'm saying I suppose.
