It’s so true that no matter what people say or what happens, until a woman is done she is never done. It didn’t matter how many times he cheated on her and disrespected her. She wasn’t ready to leave and she knew she wasn’t going to. But once a woman reaches her breaking point there’s no going back! No emotions, nothing. Good for Brittany.
She reached the point of no return. However you can tell she hoped the split would "wake him up" and it didn't and she realised she was at peace away from him. That sealed the deal for her

Yes, “relieved” is the word I would use too. Relationships with narcissists are exhausting! They thrive because they have two people looking out for them, while you are drained because no one (even yourself) is looking out for you.

Can tell from just the first few minutes if this that Brittney has been through the repeated cycle of abuse in her relationship with Jax. She has gotten to the point where her first concern is no longer how will things affect him or what will he do. She finally realises she cant fix him, only he can. Stay strong Brittney.

I’m so happy she is away and happy, I was in a Narcissist relationship and unless you been there before you have no idea how hard it is to actually get away. The level of strength to leave is insane to actually do it. I tried to leave and he would pull me back everytime. With the empty promises and the month long changed behavior and then the switch would happen. You are in a fog and don’t understand that a person that says they love you can treat you like trash. And then turn around and treat everyone else so much better so you think they can too if you change who you are. She is a survivor. She is someone that will live a happy life! Usually narcissists are so hateful and jealous of their partners, so they dim the light that you bring. If you are still reading this and this sounds familiar it NEVER gets better it gets worse. Leave and be free. The pattern of discourse is what they thrive on. The belittling and holding back affection is how they get affection. It’s a personality type and there is a low chance that they will change. You cant control anyone but yourself.

I leaned my lesson about getting prenup. I tell my friends and people I know to have prenups before getting in marry. I don’t want anyone to go through nasty divorce. Some people say that’s so negative when you are getting marry but you never know what’s gonna happen and you don’t wanna regret. Your love may turn into your worst nightmare. Especially when your children get involved.

I'm really proud of her for leaving, but it can't be overlooked that Jax has been the same person for 10 years. She had the information about who he was right from the beginning when she saw him try to get with Lala as she was moving cross-country. I feel bad for Britney because I know she tried. But, know, just because you file for a Divorce, doesn’t mean you are! It is considered adultery if you hook up with someone else while still legally married. I suppose if the two agree, it’s okay, and then it wouldn’t be an issue in court when asking for alimony.
I believe Britney did what she thought she had to do for sanity’s sake.
Personally I think people who get married these days don’t cherish the meaning of marriage.
It’s not all up, and in the beginning there’s more downs than ups.

Why did she think it would end well? Jax is a selfish narcissist and he wants a hot babe on his arm. I knew he would dump her the minute she gained an ounce because that's all he cares about.
I think Brittany stayed for so long due to being insecure. I am happy she found her confidence and self worth and left him. He treated her absolutely horrible and never showed remorse, except briefly when his dad passed away he "acted" changed. So happy for her new chapter!
Jax has now admitted that he's a narcissist - a clinical one, not the throwaway description one - and I'm guessing he may have been given that formal diagnosis in the clinic. If that's the case then Brittany will have been on a cycle of narcissistic abuse with him for those 10 years. Love bombing (the being nice to her again she describes) then devalue and discard only to return to love bombing again. Well done her for breaking the trauma bond and getting her life back. In the end this will be so much better for their son and her. It's very unusual for a narcissist not to use children as a pawn, so I'm not sure how far I belief both of them saying that co-parenting is their priority.. we'll see. When she mentioned that he hasn't changed, that's to be expected. Clinical narcissists cannot change, therapy does not work for them, despite what some misguided therapists might try to claim.

Unpopular opinion - but my heart does go out to Jax, who probably isn't even fully aware of the true sadness of this situation. I have a sibling who is like Jax, and who I am convinced is developmentally stunted even though they socially exhibit somewhat normal behaviour, when you spend more time with them, you notice that they truly dont understand empathy, life, feelings, and have wild mood changes that they instantly can recover from. They went on to have a child who is deeply autistic and that was further proof to me that genetically, there is something I've observed in them that is different from others since we were young children. They dont mean what they do or say, they just dont truly understand the impact of their actions and words even though they outwardly present like they do. So, anyway, I see my siblings in Jax. It's uncanny.
