- Joe Longthorne performing at 'The Royal Variety Performance 20 November 1989' in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh.
Joe was deeply honoured to be invited to perform, here's his setlist :-
'You Are The Sunshine of My Life'
'I Who Have Nothing'
To All The Girls I've Loved Before'
With his 'guests' in the form of his incredible vocal tributes to
Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Johnny Mathis ,Barry Manilow and Tony Bennett, Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones,Des O"Connor,Julio Iglesias,Max Bygraves and Engelbert Humperdinck.
Closing with the Don Black classic 'If I Never Sing Another Song' , originally performed by Matt Monro, but a song Joe made his own in the late 1980's due to a life or death battle with Leukaemia which would go on to last more than 30 years and sadly end with Joe's passing on 3 August 2019.
Quoting just one line from the song 'You Know My Name' , the world will always remember Joe's name in the world of Music and Entertainment.
My wife and myself never missed his shows in Scotland 🏴 one night in Glasgow he pulled my wife up and sang to her it was the most perfect thing I seen her face shone with delight. He was the greatest entertainer Britain has produced and a perfect and humble gentleman you could ever meet he came up to me after the song and shook my hand and gave me a cuddle. Requiescat in Pace Joe 🙏🌹🙏 your sadly missed to this day
I worked with Joe in the 80’s. One night my car wouldn’t start so he got a towing vehicle and towed me to his house. He didn’t know at the time that we were both on Junior Showtime at the same time so we had such a good evening reminiscing. We kept intouch and became very good friends. A humble man. Bless you Joe 🙏😘
You tell me anyone in this world who could pull this off with cancer. I love u my friend. Singing through the hard times. You lived to sing to your followers. We all miss you. Stevie collins & family. Xx rip my friend

The most underrated by those that should have known better, the best!
I have a friend who was friends with Joe. He kindly arranged for me n my mum to see his show. I went not knowing what to expect. I left a fan. I was an emotional wreck. His voice was spectacular. It hit you like a tidal wave. A rare talent, under rated for sure but i loved his persona most of all. For such a talent you coukd see how grateful he was people loved him n i think the longest standing ovation ive seen at any live show ive seen. RIP sir. You were a truly god gifted talent. 👏👏👏
The greatest all round entertainer the world has ever seen. His presence on stage is electrifying.
This wonderful man and supreme entertainer was taken away from us far too early but the gift he has left us is a voice and performance that is beyond compare. Thank you, dear Joe
It seems a long time since he passed away. There r not 2 many artists around like Joe anymore.❤️
Totally underated. The guy was phenomenal

Speechless. Wonderfull. I miss him too. X
Fantastic ! to sing matt munro and Shirley takes a hell of a lot and Joe is perfect, thank you.
The impressions are unmatched, but, oh, If I Never Sing Another Song was sheer magnificence.
That rendition of, if I never sing another song, was off the chart . THAT’S how you sing a song. You only hit the notes if you can and you throw all emotion in to it. Joe Longthorne was a master at that. Just such a sad loss. I saw him twice and I feel privileged.
Malcolm HARRIS Wiseman that song was presented at a100 per
Magnificent
Wow wow wow
Singing an impression of someone is one thing but singing it as mind blowingly good vocally as that speechless and the face telling a story each time
The best ,most versatile vocalist ever, super talented man. If he had been on the voice today the chairs wouldn't stop spinning round . Xx
totalmente de acuerdo
The only way this would happen is if the chairs were broken. If they kept spinning around. Because when they like someone, they just spin around once.
Loved Joe Longhorn, saw him at the north pier in the 80s . Britain's Bob Anderson!!👍♥️♥️
Bob Anderson is America's Joe Longthorne :) .
He was without question.... Mesmerising.

That's what you call talent and entertainment. Breathtaking performance. They will never be another Harry Cluttercrutch.
I loved Joe Longhorn, saw him at North pier back in the late 80s early 90s what a ledgen! We miss you Joe,God bless!!♥️🙏 Xxxxx.
totally amazing ...RIP Joe
The end of an era . Not just for Joe , but really the end of those amazing ballads, ballad singers, cabaret, music halls etc.
Today’s equivalent we have DJ’s 😂
True talent and entertainment was yesterday. There’s desperation and emotion in that music and voice. The lyrics are filled with love and tenderness.
Today’s generation can’t relate to that. Their music is computerised heavy base lines with lyrics filled with how tough, cool and rich they are . Plus the profanities.
A true superstar
Saw Joe a few times back in the day, probably around this time. I always thought of him as a real 'showbiz' act - genuine, enthusiastic, skilled, and wanted the audience to have a good time. Much missed.
Such a talent. X
Those high notes of Bassey are spot on ! .. He has all the vocal inflections and patterns.
Joe Longhorn, what a talent so sadly missed! God bless you Joe you will all we be remembered!!♥️👍 Xxxxx.
He is awesome, hitting both singers spot on, Respect in every sense of the word.

Amazing voice. Stunning performance on 'If I never sing another song'. I imagine he's backed by Alyn Ainsworth's fantastic orchestra that featured on the 'Live From The Palladium' shows hosted by Jimmy Tarbuck around this time. RIP two musical talents.

Actual, honest to goodness talent. Not like all these so called reality 'stars' who influence simply because they look good in a swim suit, despite having absolutely no entertaining qualities whatsoever. Changed days sadly. Miss your extraordinary talent Joe.

Wow!
omg just incredible ! Had the immense pleasure of seeing him perform twice - wish it had been more ! rest in paradise Joe x
....What can you say about this man !?!?!! There are no words for this man. No superlatives of any word, vocabulary, term
can really and truly do him justice, no word feels right, no vocable is dead-on (and this states a studied linguist!).
Every word that I have tried out to describe him, every phrase that I've turned and twisted, upside down and inside out,
feels wrong, is inapt.
I could write a whole thesis about each of his impersonations and his own, individual singing style, therefore about his
character and his life. --
The most powerful expression of all is silence. Genius is beyond definition. Best is to be quiet and tranquil and just listen
to this phenomenon Mr. Joe Longthorne.
He was so good-looking too, and moved his body so well !
( He also does a brilliantly fantabulous, super duper freaking excellent Julio - his diction & the accent!! 😂🤣 Killer! - !!!
Such a rare imitation included in this gem of a clip as well !)
Thank you so much for this ! 🥰🥰💯👍👍👍❤👏👏👏👏👏💖
