The locals speak English very well without strong accents. All the food you tried looked so delicious and the place looks clean. Impressed with Kuala Lumpur.
Most Malaysian under 60 years old can converse in english. Whenever you come across with people who are unable to speak English, most probably they are foreigner who work in Malaysia, either in restaurant, street food, local industries, labour, cleaner, etc.
Again can't tell you enough how much I appreciate the continuity. You ended the last one walking into the hotel and pick up starting this one checking in, love it. It's like you guys aren't going to miss anything 👍
Hi Terry, I am the Vietnam veteran who lives in Sebastian Florida. I love your videos. You were saving me a bucket of money because I feel like I’m in the country with you. I feel you are the best blogger on TH-cam for adventure trips I am originally from the Bronx, New York sorry about the Yankees. Hi Richard, I remember you brother and appreciate not only your kind words but most importantly your incredible service. Thank you for your encouragement my friend and for joining me on these adventures. Onward and Upward!
Nice video again Barefoot👍 Plenty action there at night, and a lot of different food. I like to go there again, maybe next year. Enjoy yourself, regards from Holland🇳🇱🇺🇲
Welcome to our beautiful Country Malaysia! 1st of all, in Malaysia please avoid to drink alcohol in open space, this is to respect the muslim locals (the norm) even non-Muslim local they will never do that, they only drink in close place like bars or restaurant.(this are the biggest difference between local and foreigners, and the reason we can live together in harmony for ages). However in bukit bintang people don't mind you to drink in public because the place are surrounded with bars. And the vendor/sellers/customer most are foreigners, we local malaysian don't go there. If you saw woman with headscarf maybe they're Indonesian. Even the local Chinese and Indian (malaysian) don't eat there. This is because bukit bintang known as tourist attraction spot. 2nd we malaysian have a different English accent, and we local will speak with smile and the warmth welcome, usually we will greet with 'apa khabar' means how are you, or 'selamat datang' means welcome, and closing with 'terima kasih' means thank you... Please learn this MAGIC word if you what to experience pleasant conversation with the locals. If you stay longer and interrect more with local you will feel the differences. BTW most malaysian love to stay at home and chill with our family members...😂 3rd sorry to say(no offence), but the first food that you eat from the video is not even a malaysian food, and I believe all the food that you eat in the video are not our authentic malaysian dish. I would recommend you to go masjid Jamek night market if you what to experience the true malaysian cuisine, and most are Halal food due to most the seller and customers are malay muslim. You can search in YT, as there is so many vlog traveller hunt for local food around KL. Enjoy your stay in Malaysia..!!! ❤ Peace 🇲🇾
The awesome thing about M’sia is the diversity and confluence of multi ethnic cultures. I totally agree with you that the night market street experience in KL is right at the top, even amongst other Asian cities. You’re also gob smack right at the epicenter of all the night market happenings in Bukit Bintang. It’s chaotic but that’s where the fun is! I read there’s another happening night market scene at TRX, haven’t been there yet myself 😅. Anyone can shed some light on this?
Malaysia has become a place of choice for many foreign workers in Asia looking for work.. the average in your video is foreign workers.. and in Malaysia most Malaysians can speak English because it has become an important subject in Malaysian schools, science and mathematics subjects are also in English in primary school Malaysia.. I hope you can communicate with them well and enjoy the truly Asian Malaysia..
Putting aside all these comments, you are my new hero Sir. Only in TH-cam since 2019 and a massive 80K subscriber. You are dry, straight forward and a little insensitive like most Americans but that is the world. Like Gump used to say, life is a box of chocolate (and chocolates are bittersweet).
You're in the city that never sleeps, Kuala Lumpur dude...don't sound like you're so surprised to hear that the foodstreet in Alor Street closes at 3am. And yes, you can drink along the streets as long as you don't misbehave after a few. Lol😂😂😂
Good video, such a variety of food and so respectful the onlookers around the band , well done dancing and showing it at same time ! that scallion meal looked good !
In South East Asia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand have the best foods. I'm going to Kuala Lumpur in January and staying in Bukit Bintang area too.
The stick of barbeque lamb meat that you ate is call satay. Normally, they have beef, lamb and chicken. For chicken wings, the popular shop that sells it is known as Wong Ah Wah. Walk around first before you decides where to eat. Select the stall later. There is a popular smoke stringray fish that you should try.
@@irishque I was not sure either. I guess the big difference with Malaysian Satay is that we do not put salt, black pepper or any other condiments on the roasted meat. We also eat Satay with a dipping gravy made from grounded peanuts.
there are few states nearby kuala lumpur such as selangor , negeri sembilan, perak. You can visit those states if you want to explore more local foods and local people also local vibes. Kuala Lumpur is a busy city but for new visitors, you can enjoy the main city first before going to the other states. Just for your info, Malaysia have 14 states including kuala lumpur. All the states have their own uniqueness.
Southern Thailand states used to be part of Malay sultanates included Phuket, Patani, Krabi, etc until 1909 Anglo -Siamese Treaty that separate Malay states in Southern Thailand given to Thailand and Malay Peninsular to British. So majority of people in Southern Thailand are Malay and Muslims, and of course mixed with Thai Siamese and Thai Chinese. In Malaysia we also have Siamese ethnic mostly in northern part of Malaysia who prefer to stay in Malaysian part after the Treaty until today and became Malaysians. Most Malays are mixed blood of Malay, Indonesian, Filipino, Chinese, Indian, Arab, Thai, European etc hence you can see Malay with oriental features and light skin colour and some with darker and looks like Indian or Arab or Latinos.
Those lala and chicken wings are best serve with beer... There's a famous hokkien mee inside petaling street too near Hong Leong bank.. Miss the old days working nearby bukit bintang..

FYI ..mostly in KL area or the suburb, the shop asistant or the workers are immigrants.Even the guy who sold you *the grilled beef* is an immigrant .We called that grilled beef/chicken/lambs as *satay* which is quite popular in South East Asia espexially in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei n Indonesia .Dont get confuse tho because most locals aint *wandering* or *meandering* at mid nite except to those who are working especially in the weekdays .
Other than Nasi Lemak, I suggest you to try our local burger call “Ramly Burger”!! You can get it at any random stall near you. Hope you like it cause we Malaysian love it!! 😋👍🏻
Hahaha. A fun night you had for sure. Those that you tried to speak to are mostly foreign workers which do not speak much of English. That was why their responses were a little shy and kind of ignorant. Please do not blame them. When you travel more in the city and perhaps a little outskirts, you'll meet more locals which are more provision in English. Then you'll obtain more responses and interactions. Enjoy your experience in Malaysia. You'll leave the country smiling with warmth and sweet memories. Bless you. Cheers.
It's always my privilege when anyone is kind enough to speak with me on camera, wherever they may be from and whatever language they may speak. After all, I'm conversing with them in my native language in their country and they are kind to engage me. Thanks my friend
Congrats on 80k subs Terry. Maybe you'll hit the big 100k by the end of the year!! If so, maybe we should all celebrate back home with the army. That is, if you intend to ever come back lol.
In Malaysia, there are a few million foreign workers (from Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, etc). Some may not speak English unless they are educated. They mostly work in the service industry - cleaners, restaurant helpers, security guards, etc. Indians might speak some English but rarely the Nepalese, Indons, Bangladeshi.
Since Muslims don't drink alcohol, there's no word for CHEERS in Malay language. Only the Chinese has a word for Cheers, ie. Yam Seng. Being multi-cutural, there is not restrictions on others drinking beer or alcohol.
Malaysia’s immigration policies present significant challenges for expatriates aiming to settle in the country, while simultaneously allowing thousands of low-wage workers to entering the country in bundles. This influx brings diverse cultures and behaviors, some of which have positive impacts, while others may be less desirable. Properties that attract such tenants often face difficulties in achieving capital gains, as the presence of low-wage worker communities can sometimes affect the property’s perceived value and appeal to potential buyers. It is what it is.
Literally, when I saw you munching the chicken wings. It’s a finger lickiń good. So I ate the left over lechon with a San Miguel beer. Cheers! Mate. Great video Terry.
Hilarious. Couldn't read/see the street signs in the previous video, and in this video, the first meal is clearly mongolian as the sign says!! But great presentation style. Love it.
Great vlog as always! You still rolling w the Pocket 3? Even while you were eating at the table? I’m struggling w the gimbal and focusing. Prob just easier w a Action 4 on a stick ha Anyway, I check into Grand Center Terminal 21 Dec 6 thanks to your vid, live it up for a few days and then head to hood ha 🤜 🤛
I struggled with the gimbal. It's all about the setting. Make sure you have it on the setting (can't remember which one) that keeps the gimbal stable as you're filming. Also, there was a recent software update that helps with this issue. Safe travels
@ “There he is” ha! I love it when you say that to random people. Ty, I’ll mess with it. It’s just tough in selfie mode and then to angle it to add the other person in the frame when engaging. The quality is great and I appreciate your feedback. I’m backtracking on your Thailand adventures, just know I watch all your vids and def one of my fav vloggers. Safe travels, onward and upward
Beautiful Diverse Country! That’s what PEACE and LOVE is all about!

I like this hotel...i will try checkin here..look so nice
Most of the people in that area are not Malaysians. It is by far the most touristy place. I don’t think locals go there.
I will try my best to find them. Stay tuned
What a way to end this vlog with microchip and the blinking foot neon sign. Great video brother.
I'm a sucker for happy endings Ben lol. Thank you brother.
Hi barefoot, l love watching your, make me keep smiling you're friendly man💗😍😍😍
So glad, thanks Shirley🙏
The atmosphere in Terengganu and Kelantan is very different from that of KL and Selangor.
wow... its a nice place i love it the night market in malaysia
Love your energy bud
That's great to hear my friend
Malaysia’s immigration policies present significant challenges for expatriates aiming to settle in the country, while simultaneously allowing thousands of low-wage workers to entering the country in bundles. This influx brings diverse cultures and behaviors, some of which have positive impacts, while others may be less desirable. Properties that attract such tenants often face difficulties in achieving capital gains, as the presence of low-wage worker communities can sometimes affect the property’s perceived value and appeal to potential buyers. It is what it is.
Stop blaming blue collar immigrants, they do the job you seem not to be doing.
Welcome to Malaysia ❤️.. Love your video..tq sharing..
Thanks Hamzah!🙏
I ran a tax prep office for over 25 years. Now I'm ready to enjoy retirement. But where? Malaysia seems good. I like the diversity.
Great video!

Hi Amy, thanks for joining me! 🙏

One more thing that u need to know...there's no tipping culture here in Malaysia...u just pay for what u eat or buy...
True, but maybe it's the westerner in me, I have to tip
Bro, you choose heineken beer . Thats my fav . Great video. ❤
you’re at the food mecca of south east asia barefoot - at the confluence of delicious foods bare none🍻
Compared with the Thais most Malaysians speak fairly good English so not so much of communication problem when you are in KL.
Great video
"My eyes bigger than my stomach" 🤣 enjoy sir, fyi sir almost local people love spicy food.
Enjoy your time there in Malaysia Sir...👍👍
In Sabah East Malaysia..we say "Aramaiti" for "Cheers"
Yes you can have bear while walking around hehe
Haniza is hesitant to admit she is Malay😂. Next time use Matsalleh name, easier. Cheers
Literally, when I saw you munching the chicken wings. It’s a finger lickiń good. So I ate the left over lechon with a San Miguel beer. Cheers! Mate. Great video Terry.
Haha bon appetit!
Hilarious. Couldn't read/see the street signs in the previous video, and in this video, the first meal is clearly mongolian as the sign says!! But great presentation style. Love it.
Your gonna have us all moving to Asia. The prices alone are amazing.
Nik, I know. I can eat like a king for 6 bucks lol
Another great video thanks for sharing
Great vlog as always! You still rolling w the Pocket 3? Even while you were eating at the table? I’m struggling w the gimbal and focusing. Prob just easier w a Action 4 on a stick ha
Anyway, I check into Grand Center Terminal 21 Dec 6 thanks to your vid, live it up for a few days and then head to hood ha 🤜 🤛
