I know Robert Fripp and David Sylvian since the early eighties. But just today I found out that they worked together. It makes total sence. Fripp's sound scapes and Sylvian's etherial voice complement each other so well. Thanks so much for uploading this, Mistcatcher.
When the world bends around, when the structures of a civilization falter, it is good to return to that which in history does not flex, but on the contrary recovers courage, gathers the separated, pacifies without bruising. It’s worth recalling that the genius of creation is also moving in an history devoted to the destruction

I have never heard them before. Vocals are magnificent. New music to be. There is so much out there. Perhaps one day we can gather and create a concert for the homeless. Wink and a Nod
I was aware of the (drastically shortened) version on "Damage" (live Sylvian/Fripp album), but never heard this full version- magical. Wish it was on one of Sylvian's various compilation CD's... just amazing.
@@gavinreid5387 Yep. Not sure where my head was at when I made that initial post nine years ago. The word “Earthbound” is in “Damage”’s lyrics, and somehow I conflated the two. The original version of the Damage live album had a different track listing, and I think I mistakenly recalled it being on that original version. Losing me bloody mind.
I didnt really appreciate the significance of sylvian and fripp back in the day. Now I know more about king Crimson and the music, I see what a match these two really were. Fripp asked DS to join kC. Even if it was only for a few years, that would have been great.

harveytg: despite the fact that your comments are meaningless and very limited in vocabulary, rest assured, the rest of us are effortlessly able to acknowledge how your distinct lack of empathy and understanding affects your ability to appreciate truly beautiful music. It must be a terrible affliction to live with. May it pass quickly.
"Hey Dad, how did you go deaf?" "Well, it was listening to Robert Fripp's amazing guitar with the headphones at 11"
Just found my cd single of Jean The Birdman with this as second track. Stupendous stuff.
Odd. This sounds like two tracks to me.
@DarkeningSkies1 I agree. It is superb and worthy of a re release.
Thanks
Magic
I have loved u all my daze...since forever.

The version of Damage that I have has not got Earthbound on it.
@@gavinreid5387 It is called “Damage” on the album, but is it an excerpt from the longer version in this video...

Wow! You're clever with words. I'd better listen again in case I'm wrong.
Good song from two visionary artists
😘
My god where did this come from? I need it!
Check ebay. One pops up from time to time.
Jean the Birdman single
The song doesn´t tell me anything. but when the soundscapes begin, then were talking
i miss her
Like a black crow standing
On a sea of shells
She's blessed by magic
And the sound of liberty's bells
I'll raise the curfew
And sit by her door
But she's been through this war before
Out in the snow fields
Coyote tracks
She calls out its name
With the words I lack
And it turns its head
And howls to the moon
She's gonna be leaving (believe in) me soon
She's giving me questions
And quizzical looks
She tears up my papers
And burns all my books
They gave her nothing
She didn't already know
She's getting ready to go
Down in the basement
Among her things
I opened her boxes
And found all her rings
I offered her money
She said "They're not for sale"
She guards her secrets well
Somebody saw her
Down on the beach
I followed her footsteps
But they ended at the sea
Still, when she found out
She goes and raises hell
She guards her secrets well
Each face is her mirror
Reflecting her own
She squanders affection
And rarely goes home alone
But I wouldn't ask for anything
If only she'd tell me it's through
She guards her secrets too
Like a black crow standing
On a sea of shells
She's blessed by magic
And the sound of liberty's bells
I'll raise the curfew
And sit by her door
She's been through this war before

Is that walking disease harveytg still alive? Thought the hate would poison himself.
Beautiful song, but once again not available on CD.
It is on CD. I have it. On the Jean the Birdman CD single. A two part set.
Surely that's not fripp on guitar in the first half of the song...surely it's sylvan playing the acoustic because It actually sounds "normal"!
Even Fripp can play "normal".
The "first half" Earthbound, sounds like a song on it's own. A demo? With the Fripp solo a separate track.
I had this on cassette single until I played it to death.........
Sylvian fotever!!! I wanna listen it to death too.. Greetings from Belarus
Frippertronics!
I love it so much.
That's why Fripp studied Georges Ivanovich Gurdjieff.
fripp was into gurdjieff because he needed it, that was not the only one thing he studied bout weird thinga, that was the age
@snufkin789 You're so right
who in the wide world of sports would vote this down
