      Etsy takes care of collecting the correct sales tax for each state and/or country you sell in and remits it for you. You don't have to bother with doing sales tax anywhere. You will only pay income taxes in the country and/or state where you live on your profits.

      @@islandgirl8010 That's something your printer will handle since they do the shipping.
      I did see on another video that, unlike with sales tax in the U.S., which is tacked on to what the Buyer pays, VAT gets taken out of what the Seller receives (i.e. it comes out of your profit). So Sellers will need to add the tax into the cost of the product in order to make the same amount of profit. But Etsy still handles remitting that to the tax authorities in that country so there's nothing extra you need to do.

    Hey POD, Great video as always. I think it's really important that you talk about tax. Where you set your origin country in your shipping profile greatly effects how much tax a buyer will have to pay if they're purchasing in different countries. I see you have a solution where you create duplicate listings with multiple shipping profiles set with origin country linked to print provider, but what if you only want one listing on Etsy? What advice would you give to reduce the amount of tax your buyer has to pay in different countries with only one listing and one shipping profile with one origin country?

    This is a great video, unfortunately, it only applies to US shops. So many Canadians, including myself want a video exactly like this one that applies to Canadian sellers selling to the US. Everything from what settings do you need to apply for both Etsy and Printify, what additional fees does Etsy gouge you for with transaction fees, etc.

      I totally agree. I need one for people in the UK selling to the US market. When I put my prices in US dollars on the US shirt, it shows in my etsy shop as GB pounds and I cannot see these items in US dollars. So I have no way to see if the item is showing correctly to the US market.

    Great video, very well explained. Just a quick question; if a seller decides to implement option #4, does that mean the seller needs to pay Etsy fees ($0.2) as many times as the listings are duplicated? So, if a shops sells with a local provider in 4 different countries, that is considered a new listing?

    An immensely informative and well-curated video. It clarified a great deal of things that had me stressed out. I have one question. On Printify there are certain print providers (such as JONDO for Canvases) that have multiple fulfillment centers which are located primarily in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. How do you go about the shipping profiles for the same print provider who has fulfillment centers in multiple countries? And as an example let' 's say when you create a new shipping profile for JONDO it tends to automatically populate the country of origin as the United States, though JONDO has fulfillment centers in the UK, Canada, and Australia. Now in this case, would option #1 be the best to go for, or would it be better to opt for option#3 or option#4? I'd greatly appreciate any help with this.

    your chanel is super prictical and I found almost all the answers to my questions! Thank you bunches first! Now I have one question needed your help. Some product like canvas bag that I want to sell international but the for a same sized standard tote, the providers in different countries are using diffrent product, like the fabric is very diffrent and the neutral colors are slightly diffrent as well. Is it possible to only crate one listing for all? Feels like it's impossible to write a description though lol!

    Dang. Option 4 seems the best for me. I live in Canada but want to sell in the US and Can. Getting the duplicate listing showing up in the shops homepage kinda stinks. I hope this changes in the future. I suppose the only way around this is to just have 2 shops. One for US and one for Can.

    Great video! Can you please explain option 2 (minute 15:15), if you should be adjusting the expected delivery times for the countries you turned on automatic routing for? As I understand, since Printify will reroute to a domestic producer, it shouldn't take 10 - 30 days to get an item delivered. However, you didn't mention to adjust the delivery time and I wonder how one can know the delivery times with automatic routing enabled? Also, what about the delivery price? I have enabled automatic routing and while Printify does have a producer in the international target country, it generates a fixed price for delivery at a very high cost of USD 28. With automatic routing, surely this should not be the case? Thanks for the explanation in advance.

    Thanks for the video POD Insights. How does auto re-routing affect international shipping costs? I would imagine it's cheaper but how do I account for it in my shipping profile? In other words, how will customers know what it will cost to ship to their "international" destination if re-routing has not taken place yet and we don't know what it will cost? Or does it just stay fixed to the "everywhere else" cost in the profile? Your guidance would be much appreciated!

    When selling internationally using Printify with Etsy, shipping from a print provider in the US, how do you adjust the overall selling price to factor in the cost of shipping only for the US, in turn keeping the original selling price + shipping for other countries?
    From what I can see, you can only change the selling price size of the shirt, not by country.

      Etsy does the conversion for you.
      If you set the price of an item $10 then Etsy will convert the price depending on the customer's domestic currency.

    good one, bro! Could you explain why I received three different price estimates? One on the customer page, one on the etsy shop manager, and one on printify. And each of the three is different. Additionally, the printify supplier charges, lets say $5 for shipping, but the pricing on Etsy is $7, and the client sees free shipping wwtfff. How are they able to synchronise? Should I modify anything other than printify or just printify?

    Option 4 seems best but 27:44 that's such a mess. I hate customers can see one t-shirt multiple times (3-4). Option 2 seems okay but idk how it works. Automatic routing but I'm supposed to pay $2-100????? Why? If the goal of that is to avoid additional shipping cost

      Hi! Gelato does have a LUCID number you can use, however if you're using both Printify and Gelato in the same Etsy shop, Gelato indicates that you cannot use their LUCID number for products not fulfilled by them. Since you can only enter one LUCID number in your Etsy account, I would recommend using Printify's as they allow you to use theirs as long as any other fulfillment partner is also registered with the LUCID registry (which Gelato is).
      Customers would only be able to see the listings shipping to other countries from your shop home page, so the likelihood of there being any confusion would depend on whether your shop is built around a brand and repeat customers who are drawn directly to your shop vs. finding your products through search. If you sell across many niches, it's likely that the majority of your traffic will come through search, where customers will only see product listings that ship to their country. But if you're concerned about potential confusion or if most of your traffic will be coming through your shop homepage, then you could do what you suggested where each listing has a link to the listing for each country to be sure they can find the right one.
      While I agree that each individual listing may not have the volume of reviews that one listing could, it's a tradeoff because if you do the option of one listing available to all countries, all but one country will see the listing as coming from an international location, making them less likely to purchase. Etsy also prioritizes local/domestic listings in search placement for the EU, Australia, and Canada: help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015745428-How-Etsy-Search-Works?segment=selling
      These are just things to consider when deciding on your ultimate strategy, all good things to keep in mind!

    I just have a question, wouldn't it make sense to simply use Printful? As they have print provider in several countries, this can automtize the process that on Printify you need to do it manually as you showed when an order comes from different countries.
    The only annoying thing is that Printful will hurt the revenues as it is more expensive. What do you think of this?

I have been browsing from videos to videos to find a recommendation on whether to offer only U.S shipping versus international to some countries. I am just starting out and was kind of learning overall pricing strategies. I am finding it hard to understand the complexity of different options in shipping and my mind is bothered by the risks. My question: when you are new and just starting out, is it recommended to sell POD products (mine is only T-shirts), to international countries? what is your personal opinion? Thanks again.

      HI! I personally would recommend focusing on a small number of countries where you know you can get consistent order fulfillment. Your primary country should be where you expect to be able to make the most sales. For me, this is the US because living in the US, I find it easier to track trends in the US and also because Printify has a high number of print providers here. I also sell in Canada, the UK, and Australia but much lower volume, so I manually change the print provider for orders from those countries. I only have a small number of listings that I've duplicated just for a specific country because I get enough orders to justify taking the time to do that. You can also choose to only sell in one country at first, and then expand later after becoming more comfortable with the process.

    Hello! I am currently trying to learn about POD and have not set up shop yet. I'm based in Canada and is interested in using option #4 to sell in Canada and US. When selling internationally, do you price your products and shipping costs in the currency of the country that your listing is targeting?
    Example, when I'm listing tshirt with Candian print provider, I'm assuming the currency on the platforms are all in CAD since I'm based in Canada. My question is when I'm doing a separate listing for the same Tshirt for US customers with US print provider, are the platforms then defaulted to USD, or are they still in CAD cause I'm based in Canada? I'm just wondering how pricing should be done and how currency exchanges would affect things.
    Do international customers see prices in their local currency or do they see prices based on where shop owner's based out of?

      Not an expert but just as a consumer, I live in Aus and will only ever see items priced in AUD, regardless of the shop/ship from location. I assume Etsy has built-in currency conversion because most items that ship internationally have a strangely specific price like $31.57 or something. Local items are easy to spot in search results because they're priced at whole round numbers (or something like $29.99)

Does the price for shipping change if I live in australia but sell in America compared to if I lived in America and sold in America

    With option 3 you may change manually the provider for selling internationally but you can not change the selling price right?, we can only adjust our shipping price. Which means we cannot apply our best price strategy playing with the price/shipping price as we do for domestic purchases.

    Hey! Thanks for the video. I have a question regarding taxes. I plan on doing method 1, where I'm based in the US and all my Print Providers are in the US, but I want to be able to sell to Canada and UK. I'm aware that Printify will charge me VAT / GST in order to ship my items internationally, which will cut into the profits I'm making, but is there anything else on my part needed for handling those taxes? Or is it covered since I'm the one that's handling paying those taxes to Printify, who will then hold it and give it to its respective place. And if I DO want my customers to pay for those taxes, can I increase my shipping rates to account for the ~20% VAT and ~5% GST? I'll note that I'm using my own Shopify store, not Etsy.

      Hi! You control the countries where your listings display in the shipping profile, and then you can assign the same shipping profile to multiple listings of the same product type. So once you have your shipping profiles set up, you just select the right one for each listing and won't have to set all the details each time.

      Hi! I personally use option #3 in my shop. I use that method because I already have my Printify order fulfillment set to "manual" due to selling personalized designs, so it works for me to just manually change the print provider on international orders. There really is no wrong answer, it just depends on what you want your customer experience to be and how much work you want to put into the listing (or order) process. Option #4 gives listings the best chance of selling in each country, but is a lot of work. Option #2 or #3 gives you a chance to make some international sales and is less work when creating listings. Option #1 is the only one that I wouldn't personally use because while it's easy for the seller, the customer experience can lead to negative reviews due to high shipping prices and extended delivery times.

      ​@@PODinsights So there is one more caveat to the "automatic rerouting" - if you sell customised items, you must remember that non-manual option will send the example design as a default to the customer rather than what they wanted IE their name or date etc- is this correct understanding?

    Stupid question: How do I know the country I'm selling or shipping from? If I live in Australia, I would say that I'm shipping from Australia. But, given that I'm using a 3rd party printing partner, wouldn't that mean the shipping location is from wherever they are? And if so, how do I find that out and charge shipping accordingly? I hope that makes sense.

      Hi! Both of these are located in your shipping profiles, so if you have multiple shipping profiles for different products, it's located in each of them. The countries that you are selling in are any countries listed as destinations in your shipping profiles. Adding or removing destinations in your shipping profiles is how you control where your listings show up in search results on Etsy. So if you only wanted to sell in Australia, you need to remove all countries except Australia from your shipping profiles. The shipping from country is the "Country of Origin" also in your shipping profiles. This can be different for different products in your store - it all depends on which print provider you are using. For example, if you create a listing using Prima Printing on Printify, they are located in Australia so your Country of Origin in the shipping profile would be Australia. If you allowed Printify to create a shipping profile when publishing the listing, this would be automatically populated in the shipping profile.
