Em was dirt poor, almost starving to death, unable to provide for his family. This album failed to sell even 1000 copies. He overdosed and almost died in 97. He had to keep going somehow for the next year. Then Dre found the Slim Shady EP completely by chance and signed him. All of a sudden he was the most talked about rapper in the world. He managed to deliver 3 amazing classic albums in this time, but he was struggling to cope with the fame. All this time he had been in an on-and-off mutually abusive relationship. He got addicted to sleeping pills, and a combination of the drugs inhibiting his ability to write great lyrics and some songs being leaked lead to Encore being a disappointing album. He went on hiatus at this point, struggling greatly with his addiction. He tried to re-marry his ex-wife only to end up divorcing her again the same year, and around this time his best friend died. Finally, he had another near-fatal overdose in late 2007. After going through rehab, he's now been 12 years sober and released 6 albums in this time, becoming the only artist in history to have ten consecutive albums debut at number one in the charts. You hear his voice on this track sounding so young and you know all the stuff he's about to go through, but also how he's going to come out of it alright in the end.
He’s a true prodigy who studied all the greats. Overcame the odds and defeated all his beefs. A true disciple of the nature of hip-hop at its core, all while living as a white male in a black founding culture. He’s not the King of HipHop, but he is one of its Hokages 😭
I love this song for the fact that there’s this underlying sadness and melancholy throughout but also this consistent optimism and hopefulness that things will work themselves out and it’ll all be okay in the end. It’s somehow hopeful but at the same time somber. It’s a long year pretending I belong here.
About 10 years ago I was in my early teens and I was in a dark place, dropped out of school, thought the world hated me, I hated the world. I wasn’t self destructive or anything I was just depressed being in a broken house, these tracks helped me so much and brought me to tears and they also strengthened me to who I am today, In a whole different world.
Yeah definitely was,I really just friggin wish he would go back to this style of rapping again But it wouldn't be the same because I feel like being a rapper in the 90's was way better than it is now That's why lines like The one you mentioned Are dam good because there's an atmosphere to his voice while he says it and the beat just makes it so perfect to go with it Life was so much better back then

It’s because he sounded too much like AZ (and also because it’s hard to get an album noticed of course). Back then, if you sounded similar to another artist, you weren’t taken as seriously. Being unique mattered back then. I think this album failing is one of the best things to happen to him artistically as it led to him creating the Slim Shady persona and sound.
“Been tryna do well on this earth, but it’s been Hell on this earth since I fell on this earth” always hit the hardest. You just fucking hear it in him.

"it may be early to be planning this stuff, but I'm still struggling hard to be the man and it's tough" Over 20 years later, he's still one of the biggest names in music. Really warms my soul that he was able to make that happen for himself, literally started from the bottom and now he's HERE. And he's been here a while. Fuck.
He's been done for years now, most of the kids under 20 even know his name.. My 14 year old niece has no idea who he is. But we can still love him. Keep up with the times tho, he isnt much anymore. I will always be a fan tho

Forget everything else if ya really like really listen to this album ya should know loud and clear that this man is goat. Plus his other work is pretty match unmatchable. Word plays, double meaning and knowing when to switch flow is very rare and he is the only rapper that can rap about anything or anyone cause when it comes to versatility no one can match him but much respect to the real ones tho. #Goat
“One day I plan to be a family man, happily married” bruh that hits hard considering with what happened with him and Kim. I’m glad he made it out of the hood and most (not all) life struggles, along with other great hip hop artists. I hope to achieve the same one day.

The flow on this is perfect and so many amazing rhymes
Geezer is pure talent he is unreal beautiful track
This song reflects my life so much. It’s cathartic to listen to and helps with the pain to know other ppl go through the same stuff
It's a broke day but everything is okay ⚅

Pretending I belong here
I identify more with this youthful uncorrupted Eminem
I’m convinced I come back to this song more than anyone. This man can literally cure depression
I remembered this song deep in subconscious and listen to it repeatedly
This is basically Rock Bottom before Dre signed him.
He is now a family man but not happily married :(
And probably never will be. He’s too big now
I'm never getting married eff that.
@@Rellemann23 I feel sad for him he've been through a lot of conflicts in his life
all his romantic relationships now, if any, im sure he is careful to keep them very private given what he’s been through
Married to hip hop son.
To everyone having a hard time right now listen to this song and make the best you can out of every day… there will be better days!
Shit hits hard in 2024
the pressure MOTIVATES.
Listening to this in 2023. Still fireeeeee
Just raw talent, this goes to show that even id Dre hadn't discovered him, eventually he'd blow up
That what you think. Sadly, a lot of raw talent goes undiscovered.
@@gerardocarrillo2868 Yeah but top tier raw talents always blow up soon or later
man i keep comin back this shit fuego

"Lifes stressful inside this cesspool"
This is and always has been my favorite Em track. It's a goddamned shame I can only find it on an obscure YT channel. Much love for posting, brother.
But in the mist of this insanity, I found my Christianity
Through God and there's a wish he granted me
He showed me how to cope with the stress
And hope for the best, instead of mope and depressed
Eminem the chad Christian
fr tho that rhyme is mad deep. rip old em he fr was a real one
His flow was still advanced even early on.
still love this track, infinite album is one of the most underrated albums ever but one of the best, first time i heard it was when i 15 in 2000 and i still play it today, thanks for the upload.
So underrated the geezer was unreal when he come out with all of this
Forget everything else if ya really like really listen to this album ya should know loud and clear that this man is goat. Plus his other work is pretty match unmatchable. Word plays, double meaning and knowing when to switch flow is very rare and he is the only rapper that can rap about anything or anyone cause when it comes to versatility no one can match him but much respect to the real ones tho. #Goat
No one here has even heard of eyedea :/
Idea/I.D. Ya
i wish this was on spotify
Isn't it? Rip.
This is my favorite song by em really helps me cope with the stress and depression especially when I’m having my bad thoughts
The best songs he's ever made imo and most will never hear it.
this song speaks to my soul
Brilliant x
“One day I plan to be a family man, happily married” bruh that hits hard considering with what happened with him and Kim. I’m glad he made it out of the hood and most (not all) life struggles, along with other great hip hop artists. I hope to achieve the same one day.
Such a jam innit my bro this track is talent on a different level

Hey, Kyu!
[Hook: Eye-Kyu]
It's a broke day, but everything is okay
I'm up all night, but everything is alright
It's a rough week, and I don't get enough sleep
It's a long year, pretendin' I belong here
It's a broke day, but everything is okay
I'm up all night, but everything is alright
It's a rough week, and I don't get enough sleep
It's a long year, pretendin' I belong here
[Verse 1: Eminem]
One day I plan to be a family man, happily married
I want to grow to be so old that I have to be carried
'Til I'm glad to be buried, and leave this crazy world
And have at least a half a million for my baby girl
It may be early to be plannin' this stuff
'Cause I'm still strugglin' hard to be the man, and it's tough
'Cause man, it's been rough, but still I manage enough
I've been taken advantage of
Damaged and scuffed, my hands have been cuffed
But I don't panic and huff, frantic and puff, or plan to give up
The minute shit hits the fan, it erupts
I'm antein' up, double or nothin'
I've been troubled enough and
I'm sick of strugglin' and sufferin'
See, my destiny's to rest at ease
'Til I'm impressed and pleased
With my progress I won't settle for less than cheese
I'm on a quest to seize all, my own label to call
Way before my baby is able to crawl
I'm too stable to fall, the pressure motivates
To know I hold the weight of boulders on my shoulder blades
I see the golden gates to Heaven on Earth
Where they don't pull a weapon on you
When you're steppin' on turf, Kyu
[Hook: Eye-Kyu]

[Verse 2: Eminem]
I'm goin' for broke, gamblin' and playin' for keeps
Every day in the streets, scramblin' and payin' for cheap
Prayin' for sleep, dreamin' with a waterin' mouth
Wishin' for a better life for my daughter and spouse
In this slaughterin' house
Caught up in bouts with the root of all evil
I've seen it turn beautiful people crude and deceitful
And make them do shit illegal for these Grants and Jacksons
These transactions explain a man's actions
But in the midst of this insanity, I found my Christianity
Through God and there's a wish he granted me
He showed me how to cope with the stress
And hope for the best, instead of mope and depressed
Always gropin' a mess of flyin' over the nest
To sellin' dope with the rest
I quit smokin' cess to open my chest
Life is stressful inside this cesspool
Tryin' to wrestle, I almost bust a blood vessel
My little brother's tryin' to learn his mathematics
He's asthmatic, runnin' home from school away from crack addicts
Kids attract static, children with automatics
Takin' target practice on teens for Starter jackets
I'm usin' smarter tactics to overcome this slum
I won't become as dumb as some and succumb to scum
It's cumbersome, I'm tryin' to do well on this Earth
But it's been hell on this Earth since I fell on this Earth

“It’s a long year pretending I belong here” 2024
My #1 comfort song, I love this dude
Something about the production feels comfortable, even though a lot of us go through struggles, it makes you feel it will alright in the end. And it’s safe to say Eminem never changed, lyrics ahead of time if I were to be honest.
This is my favorite song on this album and i regard Infinite and Slim shady EP like they are official eminem albums like I have those albums in my listen again just as much as say slim shady LP , MMLP or the eminem show
& I’m still here 2020 🔥💪🏻👏🏻👍🏻👌🏻💯
Greatest Eminem song by far . I miss this era

Love this song, Infinite, and Searchin’. I haven’t heard the whole album yet on TH-cam, but hopefully he will release it on Spotify and other streaming services soon.

Fuckin love this album. I bought a bootleg copy of this back in 2000. Love that 90s hip hop sound. I don't know why this didn't ever get more love. This is the shit. I tripped out when me and my 17 year old co worker put this on while we walked to go get something to eat during lunch break. Badass how it's winning over young audiences.
Eminem is here nowadays giving me reflections when he was broke af
Best Eminem song imo.
