Este espacio natural se vertebra por el río Cabriel, que hace de frontera entre la provincia de Cuenca y la de Valencia. En Cuenca es Reserva Natural y en Valencia Parque Natural. Por la parte conquense se llega al paraje de los Cuchillos de Contreras, crestas rocosas altas y planas que se elevan por encima de nuestras cabezas, creando un paisaje espectacular. Una estrecha carreterilla nos lleva hasta el inicio de la ruta, yendo desde Minglanilla por la antigua nacional y siguiendo las indicaciones de las Hoces del Cabriel. E iremos paralelos al río, pudiendo deleitarnos con sus aguas cristalinas y muy frías. En la parte de Cuenca hay otra ruta más complicada de llegar, por una larga pista de tierra, que se asoma a las hoces. Pero es en la parte valenciana donde hay más rutas, y varios miradores. De hecho esta parte de las hoces es mucho más grande que la parte de Cuenca. Muchas rutas nos llevarán entre bosques de pinos y matorral a varios puntos de interés. Hay muchas indicaciones para que nos guiemos. Y finalmente llegaríamos al Puente de Vadocañas, tradicional paso de carruajes y ganado en épocas pretéricas, uno de los pocos puntos en los que se puede cruzar el río entre las hoces. En la fauna, que no es muy abundante, o yo no vi mucho... destaca la cabra montés, que se ve a menudo.
This natural area is structured by the river Cabriel, which forms the border between the provinces of Cuenca and Valencia. In Cuenca it is a Natural Reserve and in Valencia a Natural Park. On the Cuenca side, we reach the Los Cuchillos de Contreras area, high and flat rocky ridges that rise above our heads, creating a spectacular landscape. A narrow road takes us to the beginning of the route, going from Minglanilla along the old national road and following the signs for Hoces del Cabriel. And we will go parallel to the river, being able to delight ourselves with its crystal clear and very cold waters. In the Cuenca part there is another route that is more complicated to reach, along a long dirt track that overlooks the gorges. But it is in the Valencian part where there are more routes, and several viewpoints. In fact, this part of the gorges is much larger than the Cuenca part. Many routes will take us through pine forests and thickets to various points of interest. There are many indications to guide us. And finally we would arrive at the Puente de Vadocañas, a traditional passage for carriages and cattle in preteric times, one of the few points where you can cross the river between the gorges. In the fauna, which is not very abundant, or I did not see much... the mountain goat stands out, which is often seen.
