Ramanand Sagar's Vikram Aur Betaal Episode 1 - Raaja Vikramaaditya Chala Betaal Ko Saadhu Ke Paas Laane.
राजा विक्रमादित्य पृथ्वी राज थे जिनका सारी पृथ्वी पर राज चलता था। राजा रोज़ मंदिर में पूजा करने जाता था जहां उसे प्रजा के लोग मिलने आते थे और भेंट देते थे और राजा को अपनी समस्या सुनते थे। वहाँ पर एक साधु भी आता था और राजा को एक फल भेंट में दे जाता था और कुछ भी नहीं कहता था। राजा उन सभी फलों को काट कर देखता है तो उसमें हीरे मिलते हैं। राजा साधु से अगले दिन मिलता है और उन्हें सारे हीरे वापस देता है और उनसे कहता है की वो अमूल्य उफ़ार किसी से नहीं लेते। साधु विक्रम से कहता है की यह सब उसने सिर्फ़ उसका ध्यान अपनी ओर आकर्षित करने को किया था। राजा साधु से पूछता है की उन्हें क्या चाहिए तो साधु राजा विक्रम को बताता है की वह एक तांत्रिक विद्या के लिए यज्ञ कर रहा जिसमें राजा की उसे मदद चाहिए और यह भी कहता है की उसे रात्रि में अकेले ही आना होगा। राजा साधु को वचन देता है की वो उनकी मदद करने अवश्य आएगा। राजा साधु के पास जाता है और साधु उसे दो कोस दूर एक पेड़ पर उल्टे लटके मुर्दे को लाने के लिए भेज देता है। राजा विक्रम साधु को दिए वचन को पूरा करने के लिए चल पड़ता है। राजा विक्रम वहाँ पहुँच जाता है और पेड़ पर लटके बेताल को उठाने लगता है तो वह बेताल राजा के साथ ज़ोर ज़बरदस्ती करने लगता है लेकिन राजा अपने पराक्रम से उसे पकड़ पर अपने कंधे पर लटका लेता है और ले चलता है। बेताल राजा को कहता है की मैं तुम्हें एक कहानी सुनता हूँ यादि तुम बोले तो मैं उड़कर वापस उसी पेड़ पर चला जाऊँगा। राजा विक्रम चुपचाप सब सुन रहा था। बेताल राजा को कहानी सुनाने लगता है।
सूर्यमल और चन्द्रसेन एक माता के मंदिर के दर्शन करने आते हैं जो पाटलीपुत्र की यात्रा पर निकलते हैं। सूर्यमल को मंदिर में एक कन्या देखती है जिसे वो अपनी पत्नी बनाने के लिए उतेजित हो जाता है। सूर्यमल अपने मित्र के साथ उस कन्या के पिता के पास जाते हैं और शादी की बात करते हैं तो कन्या का पिता शादी के लिए माँ जाता है लेकिन एक शर्त रखता है की मेरी बेटी देवी माँ की भक्त है और वह सुबह शाम देवी माँ के दर्शन करके ही भोजन करती है और मैं चाहता हूँ की उसका यह नियम शादी के बाद भी बना रहे। सूर्यमल उनकी शर्त मान जाता है। दोनों का विवाह हो जाता है और सुरमल अपने नयी पत्नी को लेकर घर की ओर चल पड़ता है। रास्ते में डाकू उनकी बारत पर हमला कर देते हैं। और लूतपात करने के बाद सूर्यमल और चन्द्रसेन को मार देते हैं सूर्यमल की पत्नी डाकुओं के देख चिप जाती है और जैसे ही वापस आती है तो उसे वहाँ दोनों की लाश दिखती है जिनके सर धड़ से अलग थे।
सूर्यमल की पत्नी अपने पति को मृत देख रोने लगती है और अपने पति की मृत्यु को देख अपने प्राण देने लगती है तो तभी उसकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न हो कर माता वहाँ आ जाती है और उसे कहती है की तुम अपने प्राण मत दो मैं इन्हें पुनः जीवित कर दूँगी तुम उनके सिर उनके धड़ के साथ जोड़ दो। सूर्यमल की पत्नी ख़ुशी ख़ुशी में गलती कर बैठती है और सूर्यमल के सिर को चन्द्रसेन के धड़ के साथ जोड़ देती है और चन्द्रसेन के सिर को सूर्यमल के धड़ के साथ। बेताल विक्रम से उस बात पर सवाल करता है की अब तुम ये बताओ की अब वह कन्या किसकी पत्नी है। राजा बेताल को बताता है की सिर शरीर का मूख अंग है और वही सारे अंगों को सम्भालता है इसलिए जिस धड़ पर सूर्यमल का सिर लगा है वही उसका पति है। बेताल राजा विक्रम के उत्तर से देते ही बेताल वापस से उड़ जाता है क्योंकि राजा के साथ बेताल ने शर्त रखी थी की उसके बोलने पर बेताल वापस उसी पेड़ पर जकार लटक जाएगा। राजा विक्रम फिर से बेताल को लाने के लिए उसके पीछे जाता है।

Vikram Aur Betaal is an Indian mythology television series that aired on DD National in 1985 & re-telecast in 1988 after the hit Series Ramayan. The series contained stories from Indian mythology. The concept of the program was based on Baital Pachisi, which is also known as Vikram-Betaal (a collection of 25 tales which is narrated by Vetala to Vikram). It is about the legendary king Vikram (identified as Vikramāditya) and the ghost Betaal (identified as Vetala,[1] a spirit analogous to a vampire in western literature). The show aired at 4:30 PM Indian Standard Time on Sundays from 1985 to 1986.

This was one of my favourite serial. Just the sound of vikram.....vetal and we used to run towards the TV. 80 s and 90s were the golden age of TV. Now there are 100s of TV channels but no one can match those old golden days.

विक्रम बेताल की कहानियों को लोग 80 और 90 के दशक में बड़ी ही दिलचस्पी से देखा करते थे। राजा विक्रम एक साहसी और निडर राजा थे, जिन्होंने अपनी बुद्धि के बल पर पूरे भारत में राज किया था। इसी पराक्रम और साहस के बल पर एक योगी ने राजा विक्रमादित्य से वचन लिया और राजा ने उस वचन को निभाया भी। विक्रम बेताल की कहानियाँ बेताल पच्चीसी के नाम से भी प्रचलित है। राजा विक्रम बड़े ही न्याय-प्रतापी और वचनबद्ध राजा थे। तीनों लोकों में उनका न्याय सर्वश्रेष्ठ माना जाता था और बेताल का जो पेचीदगियों से भरा प्रश्न होता था, वो न्याय आधारित ही होता था। इसी कारण सभी उनके न्याय को सुनने के लिए उत्सुक रहते थे। विक्रम बेताल की कहानियों में जीवन, राजकाज,समाज और गृहस्थी से संबंधित अनेक ज्ञान की बातें छिपी हैं। दूरदर्शन और प्रसार भारती ने विक्रम बेताल की कहानियों को आम जनमानस तक पहुँचाया है, इसके लिए मै दूरदर्शन का बहुत आभारी हूँ... 🙏🙏🙏

Vikram and Betaal was a flop when it was telecast for the first time on DD. However after the unparalleled success of Ramayan, DD decided to telecast Vikram and Betaal again as many of the serial's actors were now household names thanks to Ramayan.
