I believe Hubert lines is extended if you are on the Black Eagle. He start out the same with "I've never been much for condolences", then continue with something like "But I can offer you some logic observation" then proceed to explain how Jeralt die in one stab
Close: he instead goes on to explain that those who killed Jeralt possibly did so precisely to thin out the church's defenses. Basically saying that what the church was doing, sending out all their knights far and wide to look for the killer, might have been exactly what they wanted the church to do (and of course he was right).

Some dialogue is different for the Golden Deer students if you choose them. I remember Hilda complaining to the professor about hearing rumours about Marianne being with the bad guys, I also remember Claude talking about after reading Jeralt's diary, he could tell Jeralt loved you.
I know a lot of people seriously dislike Leonie, but if I'm being real, her response to Jeralt's death was the most heartbreaking for me. I had already ended up spoiling myself enough to know about Jeralt dying, but her response *really* didn't make things any better for me. :(

The only problem I have with Jeralts death is that it completely trivializes Byleths Divine Pulse. It is only used twice in the story. Once in the introduction and then here but it doesn't even work here and It's swept under the rug through the entire rest of the games story
I think the implication is that certain events are "locked in" as fate once the divine pulse is used. This would be an inworld reason for why rng doesn't change when you used divine pulse and do the same thing in battle. There is still the idea that he could have called out to Jeralt to warn him or gone back a little further to get Monica.

I think the real reason is that while gameplaywise you can get up to 10 divine pulses, storywise Byleth can use only one at the time. So after failing the first time, he couldn't use it again.

Felix immediately puts his hand on his head like he got a migraine and tries to quickly rush to another subject in light of Sylvain's faux pas. Like monastery security, trying to get the Prof to think of something practical. There's an amazing amount of good lines in this month. I think that's my favourite; though.
a year late but imo dorothea is probably top 5 characters in the game when it comes to writing, the delivery and her character arc falling into depression over the war - it gets me every playthrough, there's a reason i recruit her every time

People give Leonie way too much shit. She lived in a rural village far from any other civilisation. Then one day this cool guy comes to save you all and you want to be just like him. You never see him or anyone like him for years until you go to the officers academy. Does she really sound that obsessive or is she just closed off from the rest of the world with the only thing from the outside being the person who saved you
Honestly though, I've seen people who hate on her for greiving Jeralt and I thought to myself 'do you not realise that she has just as much reason to greive as byleth?' I love Leonie because throughout part one she sees you as nothing but a rival but in part two she becomes the closest thing byleth has to a sibling

In my opinion Jeralt's death was a great disappointment, Any time someoen speaks of him says things like "oh, he was the captain of the knights of Seiros" "he's the strongest mercenary in all of Fodlan". Also, Rhea confirms that she gave him her blood, so he should be something like a super human; and how did the great Jeralt die? Stabbed in the back... Let's see the context of the events: There are suddenly appearing beasts near the monastery attacking some students, and we are sent to rescue them. But the monastery is supposed to be guarded, and somebody would've noticed the beasts coming, so we asume that someone transformed the students into beasts. When we arrive the place we see the students cornered by the beasts; and when we defeat those beasts, they turn back into students; so we can confirm that someone turned them into beasts. After the mission ends, Monica appears from some ruins, probably hiding, then she talks to Jeralt pretending to be a normal girl, and when he turns around she proceeds to kill him. For being a veteran mercenary and the former captain of the knights, that was a really stupid move from Jeralt. We know that someone turned the students into beasts, very recently, so that person shouldn't be far, right? And isn't a bit convenient that Monica was hiding there? Another reason to stay cautious is that she was acting strange since she came back, and not to mention all of the crazy stuff that has been happening the last months. Couldn't Jeralt be a little more prudent and not turning his back to a very suspicious individual? That way he could've survived.
Well, that's why Manuela pointa out that he was killed but a knife that wasn't made of normal materials. It was made by the Agarthans and they surely did know Jeralt's secret.

Considering Jeralt's rep, they too would have known about him and likely about the Rhea blood thing. What better way to confirm if they have a definite way to kill Rhea than to off somebody with her blood, and also manage to thin out the Church's defenses as a bonus?

@@joshuagabrielcatindig7607 each character has a different dialogue deppending on which house is Byleth teaching and since I play Black Eagles, the only one that don't mourn Jeralt are Hubert, who instead explains the plan of the enemy, and Linhardt, who attempts to get more tools for the upcoming fight, but outside of those two, the rest of the house helps Byleth in some way I'm not even going to talk about Ferdidand and Petra tho since their minding their own bussiness
am i the only one who found jeralts death comical as hell? it was so underwhelming and pathetic. the reactions from everyone in the monastery was great but the death itself was laughable
I feel like it was meant to be like that, though. Possibly the best knight on the continent getting killed not in some epic battle, but by a stab in the back by some homicidal teenager. Supports with Jeralt definitely would've helped, though, and it's more-or-less in the same case as Greil where the actual death itself is pretty underwhelming, but the atmosphere & characters' reactions afterwards are well-done (IMO). At this point, however, I just wish "main character's dad dies to asshole villains" is not basically a staple of the series (Is it really that hard to write a father like Eliwood?).
Is Fire Emblem, it was so obvious from the beginning that the death of the parent of the main protagonist is less and less impactful, when it comes to a parent's death, writers are not trying anymore.
First time playing I went all the way through with becoming empress with edelgard and I swear I dont remember her saying that. What I recall from speaking with her is a week later after byleth being depressed and in short just tells me I need to stop being upset and move forward or else the ones who killed jeralt would never be brought to justice. Maybe I'm getting things mixed up but she apologized later post time skip saying she was being shallow.

Jeralt is basically a father to her, so in her eyes, she lost her dad too. That being said while she views him as a father figure to her, she knows he isn't her father. Still doesn't make it hurt any less that the man she basically considers her dad is now dead.

Divine Pulse isn't really used much in the story but it's meant to be used more in gameplay than story.

People give Leonie way too much shit. She lived in a rural village far from any other civilisation. Then one day this cool guy comes to save you all and you want to be just like him. You never see him or anyone like him for years until you go to the officers academy. Does she really sound that obsessive or is she just closed off from the rest of the world with the only thing from the outside being the person who saved you
Honestly though, I've seen people who hate on her for greiving Jeralt and I thought to myself 'do you not realise that she has just as much reason to greive as byleth?'
I love Leonie because throughout part one she sees you as nothing but a rival but in part two she becomes the closest thing byleth has to a sibling

In my opinion Jeralt's death was a great disappointment,
Any time someoen speaks of him says things like "oh, he was the captain of the knights of Seiros" "he's the strongest mercenary in all of Fodlan". Also, Rhea confirms that she gave him her blood, so he should be something like a super human;
and how did the great Jeralt die? Stabbed in the back...
Let's see the context of the events:
There are suddenly appearing beasts near the monastery attacking some students, and we are sent to rescue them. But the monastery is supposed to be guarded, and somebody would've noticed the beasts coming, so we asume that someone transformed the students into beasts. When we arrive the place we see the students cornered by the beasts; and when we defeat those beasts, they turn back into students; so we can confirm that someone turned them into beasts. After the mission ends, Monica appears from some ruins, probably hiding, then she talks to Jeralt pretending to be a normal girl, and when he turns around she proceeds to kill him.
For being a veteran mercenary and the former captain of the knights, that was a really stupid move from Jeralt.
We know that someone turned the students into beasts, very recently, so that person shouldn't be far, right? And isn't a bit convenient that Monica was hiding there? Another reason to stay cautious is that she was acting strange since she came back, and not to mention all of the crazy stuff that has been happening the last months.
Couldn't Jeralt be a little more prudent and not turning his back to a very suspicious individual?
That way he could've survived.
Well, that's why Manuela pointa out that he was killed but a knife that wasn't made of normal materials. It was made by the Agarthans and they surely did know Jeralt's secret.

@@brauliozt8754 Not so bs when you consider the Agarthans have had vengence against Rhea on the mind for over a hundred years and have been keeping an eye on Fodlan all that time while planning said revenge. Considering Jeralt's rep, they too would have known about him and likely about the Rhea blood thing. What better way to confirm if they have a definite way to kill Rhea than to off somebody with her blood, and also manage to thin out the Church's defenses as a bonus?

@@joshuagabrielcatindig7607 each character has a different dialogue deppending on which house is Byleth teaching and since I play Black Eagles, the only one that don't mourn Jeralt are Hubert, who instead explains the plan of the enemy, and Linhardt, who attempts to get more tools for the upcoming fight, but outside of those two, the rest of the house helps Byleth in some way
I'm not even going to talk about Ferdidand and Petra tho since their minding their own bussiness

am i the only one who found jeralts death comical as hell? it was so underwhelming and pathetic. the reactions from everyone in the monastery was great but the death itself was laughable

I agree.. Having supports with others including Byleth would have made me mourn his death more
I feel like it was meant to be like that, though. Possibly the best knight on the continent getting killed not in some epic battle, but by a stab in the back by some homicidal teenager.
Supports with Jeralt definitely would've helped, though, and it's more-or-less in the same case as Greil where the actual death itself is pretty underwhelming, but the atmosphere & characters' reactions afterwards are well-done (IMO). At this point, however, I just wish "main character's dad dies to asshole villains" is not basically a staple of the series (Is it really that hard to write a father like Eliwood?).
Is Fire Emblem, it was so obvious from the beginning that the death of the parent of the main protagonist is less and less impactful, when it comes to a parent's death, writers are not trying anymore.

First time playing I went all the way through with becoming empress with edelgard and I swear I dont remember her saying that. What I recall from speaking with her is a week later after byleth being depressed and in short just tells me I need to stop being upset and move forward or else the ones who killed jeralt would never be brought to justice. Maybe I'm getting things mixed up but she apologized later post time skip saying she was being shallow.
Leonie sounds so overdramatic about Jeralt's death. Like, I'm sorryband my condolences but Leonie needs to shrd a tear fot Byleth and not forbherself for once
... Are you really complaining that she's mourning the death of her mentor and the guy who basically changed her entire life instead of feeling bad for Byleth? She even admits that Byleth is probably having it worse than her. Let the girl grieve geez.

Jeralt is basically a father to her, so in her eyes, she lost her dad too. That being said while she views him as a father figure to her, she knows he isn't her father. Still doesn't make it hurt any less that the man she basically considers her dad is now dead.
