I captured data for a map for a 55 acre cemetery two weeks ago. I use Map Pilot, Pix4D, and DroneDeploy. In this case, the customer said I had to use Pix4D, use his KMZ file, use 80 percent front overlap, 60 percent side overlap and set the speed of my Phantom at "medium". The IPAD version of pix4D doesn't support KMZ files. The Android will not allow splitting the other requirements. I used the IOS version because the same customer has complained that I gave him too many pictures in the past and the Android version was guaranteed to do that. 18 minutes in, I hit pause, returned the drone, changed the battery, then hit resume and the app got locked up while it was going through the checklist (tried it multiple times). I had to create another mission, approximating the rest of the area, to finish...so, it doesn't work all the time. I know you want to sell your training, but berating people that do things a different way is not helpful to that end. It was a major turnoff to me and turned me off to potentially taking one of your courses. You can successfully collect data with other drones besides a Phantom. I use mine for that, but have used even a Parrot Anafi for a small more confined area, when I didn't want to risk the Phantom. It work, just takes longer.
I just mapped over 120 acres with over 10000 images over 2 days all with a p4p and using pix4d capture exclusively. Multiple battery resumes, differing acquisition types, an area unlock and absolutely no issues.
Just a note that I had his same problem with P4P. To solve the problem, you need to use DJI GO 4 to lift off, in order to get past the lock. After you lift off, close DJI GO 4 and launch Pix4dCapture, and you're good to go. Awkward, but doable...
Nice tip. I map extensively but have had problems especially on large double grid missions, where I have mission upload failures. I will try your method. I am almost sure failures to upload are because of Too many waypoints??? (single or double grid? seems to be what i have found out anyway). Therefore, I either pains-taikingly create 2 x missions for the 1 job (ie split it into 2 flight missions) or use an alternative app. They need to add Terrain aware on P4DC too. All that said, I have found mapping results from P4DCapture are second to none.
Graeme Heinrich too many waypoints happens when you set the speed to “safe” as it creates a waypoint in the copter. DJI has a limit to copter waypoints, maybe 100 or 150? I will use slow but not safe.
Has there been any update on compatibility using Pix4Dcapture with Mavic 2 Pro since this video came out? I have a client that wants me to use Pix4Dcapture for mapping, but I only have Mavic and Mavic 2 drones.

Anyone still having no preview issues with Pix4D and Mavic 2 Pro?

Oh, that was using an IPad. And also remember to completely close apps, you shouldn't have multiple GPS apps open at the same time...

Pix4D capture is now compatible with the Mavic 2 Pro
Such a shame the content is good but the presenters are horrid. The one can't get over how great he is. Focus on the content.
So drone recommendations or comparisons for commercial mapping? 😀
breaks my heart, my data in pix4D always looks terrible , not sure why , Others seem to work better for me
Yep mine did it the first not work but my firmware was no up to date. Once I did that it work it’s 2023 lol
I use the mavic 2 pro mine work
Great Post.
Thought on "Propellor"? My company wants to buy the Propellor software. Seems like overpriced web based junk to me.
