  • What is Caitlyn Kiramman shooting for in Season 1 of Arcane? Caitlyn Kiramman is a major character in Season 1 of Netflix's Arcane. Through her journey we see her change from just a simple "rich girl" stereotype to a mediator between Piltover and Undercity. From different characters like Vi and Ekko Caitlyn is able to learn more about the real world, To help better serve people. However, the question still stands...What is Caitlyn's motivation? In this video that is what I intended to answer. We are going to take a deeper look into Caitlyn Kiramman's character to really understand her journey from Act One to Act Three. To see the major moments that help shape her character. Also, will make a prediction about what's going to happen to Caitlyn in Arcane Season 2. NOTE: all of this information comes from the series Arcane on NETFLIX. I’ve never played League of Legends and have no knowledge of its lore.
    This is just my opinion about the character as a whole. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so if I got something wrong, or you have something to point out please do so in a constructive way. We’re here because we’re all passionate about this show. Be kind and willing to listen. You never know what you might learn!

      I get her reasoning for shooting at jinx/powder. I mean She's a cop and she was just protecting Vi and herself. I would definitely entrust her with my life If I know shes gonna be that overprotective friend. And the part of her that touched me the most was when she was tending to vi But Vi Wouldn't let her touch her at first. It's the fact that she sees value in others no matter what race they come from..

      Agreed! Caitlyn has a very good heart. I do think that she is the best enforcer we see in the show. She will do anything in her power to protect anyone that needs it. No matter who it is!

    Jinx and Caitlyn are so similar
    their hair, excellent shoot, they were underestimated by their relatives, and every plan end so bad, aaah and their love for Vi.
    I don't know but I think we're going to watch a dark transformation of Caitlyn, thanks to Jinx. I think Cait will be consumed by her desired of revenge. At the end she's going to be more closer what Jinx is...
    I don't know If I've made clear my idea 😬

      I understand what your saying, and I 100% agree with you. I love how both characters have a similar character design, especially with their hair. I would love to see a darker Caitlyn struggling with the line of good and bad. I'm so excited to see what happens in season 2!

    According to a theory I've been hearing, floating around on the interwebs, Jinx never tried to actually kill Caitlyn on the bridge. Instead, the butterflies used to ignite the multiple explosions, she had Marcus in her crosshair because he took Vi away from her after Vi told Jinx that she got arrested by Marcus.
    Jinx knew throughout Act 2 and 3 that she couldn't just kill Cait off since she did notice that she meant a great deal to Vi. By just shooting her, the risk of being abandoned by Vi again would increase immensely. It's only after the bridge scene where she saw Vi leave together with Caitlyn that she became much more hostile against her specifically.
    Just a theory I've been picking up after watching several vid-essays about Vi, Caitlyn and Jinx ✌🏻

    I think option 2 actually makes the most sense. The last ep is the angriest we've seen cait and her turning obsessive is in character for her. Obvs she won't kill jinx, but it would allow Vi to step in and fight jinx herself which has been foreshadowed in the op. Vi beating jinx too would also bring her craziness closer to the state she is in the game.

    • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
      @CinemaOverAnalyzed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I like this theory because it shows just how far someone will go to achieve justice. I do agree with you that Caitlyn won't kill Jinx, but she may think about it. This could force Vi into a more supportive role. Instead of running away from her problems. Vi would have to help Caitlyn through her dark times. Honestly, I really hope something like this happens in season 2!

    Thank you for your analysis. I like this character. I think Caitlyn is underestimated.

      Caitlyn's development as a character is all up to Vi now. If Vi closes herself off like she's done before. Caitlyn going to have a dark road ahead. If Vi learns to open up and show more compassion for others. Caitlyn will stay close to the same character that we know and love.

    I really can't wait to see how Cait is going to react to the death of her mother in season 2 (her mother will 100% die, calling it now). I really like the obsessive Cait theory of yours where she spends all her time tracking Jinx down and attempting to take her down. I think she's going to look for Jinx with the intention of capturing her, but when things go sideways, she'll be forced to make a decision on whether to kill her. I think she's going to come close, especially since in Ep. 9 she had the chance, but didn't take it for Vi's sake. Ultimately I don't think she'll actually do it (or she'll be stopped, maybe by Vi), but I think I might prefer if she did. Seeing the kind of strain it would put on her and Vi's relationship would be really interesting. I would also love to see how she reconciles being a leader (sheriff), fighting for justice and law, with her actions. I don't think it'll happen, but it's an interesting avenue to explore. At least just to think/fantasize about.

      Seeing a darker version of Caitlyn would be awesome! I love the concept of a morally good character turning bad. At the very least, struggling to find a balance between good and bad. I feel like movies and tv shows, normally see the good connotation of justice. Like with characters like Superman or Captain America. It would be interesting to see a show like this deal with a character that struggles. Through grief of her mother, or a skewed moral compass. I really can't wait to see what happens with this character in the future!

    I loved your video essay, in my honest opinion I don't see much Catlyn videos by herself. I feel a strong feeling that she is gonna become a big deal of a character. All your points are interesting because I never heard them. All other videos I've heard is that Catlyn is shooting for vi as in she is the whole reason she is shooting for, but I do like the perspective you took, that she is shooting for justice or the people of the undercity.

      Thank you! I totally agree with you! Whenever I see a video about Caitlyn it's normally about Vi and Caitlyn and their relationship. As much as a love Caitlyn and Vi together. I still think Caitlyn is a strong stand-alone character as well. There is no doubt in my mind, that Caitlyn will be very important in the coming season. In my eyes, Caitlyn is what Powder/Jinx could have been if Vi didn't abandon her. Will just have to wait to see!

    I don't think anyone can really say that Vi was in prison for no reason. The list of charges against her include B&E, theft, destruction of property, and injuring whoever was in that building (including Jayce). She was even prepared to turn herself over to the enforcers for all of that. Now, Vi certainly did not deserve the beatings she took in prison, but one could argue that her 6+ years in Stillwater Hold equated to time served for the crimes she was actually guilty of but never formally charged for.

    • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
      @CinemaOverAnalyzed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are truly right. Vi is not innocent on any account. Act One speaks for itself. I was looking at the notion from Caitlyn's perspective. When Caitlyn first meets Vi in prison she says "There's no record of you or your crimes. What are you here for?" Caitlyn didn't know that Vi blow up Jayce's apartment building. Which could cause some conflict between these two later on.

    Similar to Powder Caitlyn has a desperate need to prove herself and also a need to become independent from her Mother mostly. There are quite a few similarities with Jinx, however even though Caitlyn is smart and as good with a gun as Powder was. Which by the way Powder never got any praise for her skill with a gun save a brief mention from Claggor besting Mylo when it came to skill with a gun. Caitlyn is very intelligent and yet even with Jinx's PTSD Complex Trauma she has an edge, She excelled with Gadgets,she cracked Hextech which Victor thought was a leap,she is a crack-shot with her gun and her ace up her sleeve is she is unpredictable and stealthy. It is worth noting she does not kill Caitlyn at the tea party, I think it was Jinx's last good gesture to Vi before breaking ties with her sister and disappears. Caitlyn will be on a revenge kick in season 2, I hope neither Caitlyn or Jinx dies. Both are too interesting a characters to kill off.

  • @thomasewald7905
    @thomasewald7905 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the video to my favorite character of the show...the only one who is acting without selfish intentions...maybe beside of Vander. Caitlyn has nothing to win of her actions. Setting Vi free from prison is a betraying of her best friend Jayce, she did it just because it was right to do so and because she needed someone to help her in the undercity. Caitlyn has a strong moral compass what is right or wrong and she stands for it as telling her mother that her council gives a shit for the undercity. She can not be to long member of the enforcers...but she has already become a pain in Marcus ass like he mentions in episode 4...what is not helpful for her career. Her colleagues do not really like her as you can see when they adress her why she is not at a party where she should be or making jokes about her because she is so educated and upperclass...so she is still isolated. And there is her big scene with Ekko, convincing him to let her help, overcoming her own reservations against the Undercity and her kindness to an addicted guy like Huck, trying to understand why he is taking shimmer which is reponsible for his deformations. What I find so interesting in Caitlyns character is that she can look across her borders and is able to change herself because what she learned...she did not just wanted to see the real world, she let it change her, adapted to this world and stayed a good person even if it was not ever to the best...to be honest it has been better to shoot Jinx at the dinner table as she could. she did not kill Sevika which would have been easy but it was not necessarry to do so...and their I see one point you did not mention in your analyse...Guilt! She will feel guilty for Jinx attack on the council and maybe the death of her mom or the insury of her youth friend Jayce...and it will change her personality. The trailer of season 2 shows that her conflict with Jinx will go on and become more intense what will also makes her relationship to Vi difficult. If she really becomes the sheriff in season 2 Vis behavior and lack of discipline and obedience to orders will not make her job easier (can not wait on Caitlyns reaction after called Cupcake in front of her team by Vi the first time and finding her office desk full of cupcakes the next day). But I am not sure that Caitlyn becomes Sheriff in season 2, she has not the age, has not enough experience and her friend Vi was thrown out of the council after they adressed the councillors. Caitlyn would be hold reponsible for Vi insulting the council and the reward for this will not be the position of sheriif....so it could be that she is going on herself for Jinx and the trailer shows that she might have to do this without Vi

    • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
      @CinemaOverAnalyzed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now, that I think about it Guilt, is definitely the thing that keeps her morals in check. Thinking back to the scene where Vi is eating a bowl of "slop" Caitlyn stands that "I knew this was a terrible idea." Which shows her guilt in breaking Vi out of prison. The guilt is still there when she talks about going after Jinx in the season 2 trailer.
      When it comes to season 2, I still think Caitlyn will become sheriff. I feel like there is going to be another time skip. Maybe not as big as Act 1 to Act 2. Maybe like 6 months to a year at tops. Enough time, for Piltover, to rebuild a new form of government with Jayce as the leader. Which would give enough time for Caitlyn to become Sheriff, or at the very least a high-ranked officer. Let's face it she's not a rookie cop, after all, she's been through...haha.
      Really enjoy your points and I'm looking forward to what's to come in season 2!

    • @thomasewald7905
      @thomasewald7905 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CinemaOverAnalyzed But what are you thinking how her guilt will respond to her relationship with Vi? Vis sister might have killed ore seriously injured her mother and many mebers of the council and Caitlyn could have stopped this with one shot as she had the opportunity at the dinner table. She did not shoot because Vi begged for her sister. Caitlyn answered that Jinx has gone to far but did not shoot her anyway....but the result is known. In my opinion this will become difficult in Cailyns and Vis relationship. Caitlyn will make herself responsible for not shooting to protect her city and sooner or later she will Vi holding responsible for stoppping her and the trailer shows that Vi refuses to help Caitlyn in her hunt for Jinx and I agree to your opinion that Caitlyn might not make it to the end of the show, how much seasons there may be to come.

    • @CinemaOverAnalyzed
      @CinemaOverAnalyzed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if Caitlyn will feel guilt for not shooting Jinx. The same thing kind of happen when Vi gets stabbed by Sevika. If Caitlyn would have gotten there sooner, Vi won't have gotten stabbed in the first place. Even after this scene, she doesn't show guilt. She just blames Vi for acting stupid. I feel like Caitlyn will feel more grief for the people she may have lost in the Piltover attack.
      I agree this will put a strain on their relationship because both want to find Jinx for different reasons. Vi wants to wrong her mistake of abandoning her sister. Caitlyn wants to bring Jinx in for all of the damage she's caused. These two conflicting opinions will cause Vi and Caitlyn to go their own way for a little bit. During this break, Caitlyn will feel guilt for leaving Vi, but her obsessive nature will force her to take Jinx down. When it comes to Vi...keep in mind that, I'm still trying to put the pieces to her character together...I feel like she has a bigger role in how Caitlyn is going to develop as a character. If she closes herself off, as she does with Jinx, Caitlyn will probably lose her sense of self. All of that guilt Caitlyn has for human life will slip away and we'll be left with a vengeful character. On the other hand, if Vi becomes more compassionate towards Caitlyn. Caitlyn still have a strong moral compass. After their little break from one another Caitlyn and Vi will learn that they're stronger together. They will help one another grow as better people.
      If Caitlyn stays in the obsessive mindset. Like with her investigation of Silco. Caitlyn probably will not make it out of the series alive.
      But, hey that's just what I think...haha =)

    I find it interesting that Kaitlyn, as you pointed out, pointed a gun at an ‘under city’ person, then gives up her gun to, with, and for a person from the under city.
