I've heard too many foreigners saying they felt safe in dodgy areas. Just cause they were lucky doesn't mean it's safe. Eastman found out the hard way it ain't so.

There have been ongoing SF operations by multiple nations working with the Philippines military since 9/11. Once you are taken into that dense jungle, you are screwed. So he was openly advertising: 1. That he had, for the poor area, a year or two of a locals income in cash moving in and out 2. That he as an American was charging usury interest rates to local muslims (Quran bans interest) and 3. It is unfortunate, and my opinions regarding this matter would probably get me in trouble with the politically correct "powers that be" in the "ministry of truth" that is social media. Americans are stuck in the worst places in all regions of the world, and even domestically. Whether it was their own doing or not, current government leadership has proven extremely inept at securing their safety and welfare.

Good video Rod and I will endorse everything you stated. I will go even farther that now is a good time to trade USD and stuff the mattress if you don't have a bank account or even a BDO Cash Card, which pays no interest so you don't have to report the account as it's just a prepaid card. I remember the exchange rate as low as P38 to $1 USD back about 10 years ago. It's also a good time to buy big ticket Durable goods that you will buy in the next year. I play the odds and the chance of a blowout of the PHP going to 65 : $1 USD is a whole lot less than the exchange rate dropping below P50 to $1USD. Just this year I bought family a brand new Toyota Innova(Dad was in an accident fell asleep and hit a tree with the old one, the tree is fine) automatic because it was a better deal than buying a used one. Not a bad idea to have some local nest egg at any time but when wars are popping, I think it's a good precaution. Take care.
