I´ve learned a lot while practicing the first two movements ( also with „Chant de Linos“)and improved my flute playing and especially tone massively. So, don´t be afraid to start practicing slowly, it´s not as hard as you might think. In fact for me it seems to be easier compared to the fast part of "Andalucia" and probably in the same difficulty range as Karg-Elert´s "Sinfonische Kanzone". The first movement is a perfect chance to open up your tone in the high octave and to sing like a singer would do. Relaxe your embouchure (also throat, tongue etc) as much as possible and let your air support do the work for you...sing...sing....sing. Have fun - i am pretty sure you'll gonna love it.
This concerto is a piece to carry with you to the lonesome island :-)
The first movement always reminds me of the main theme in the erotic thriller movie "Basic Instinct" (1992) by the famous film composer Jerry Goldsmith. Could it be true he knew this concerto before he wrote his score ?
