How to play the didgeridoo as an effective treatment for sleep apnea

    How long would I have to play to see a significant change in my sleep? I got a digeridoo but idk how to make the drone sound, let alone circular breathing, but I'm trying to learn asap bc my sleep apnea is killing me!!

      Most of my clients notice a significant improvement (less apneas) within a few months of playing. Somewhere around six months they have no more sleep apnea and they get rid of their CPAP. Of course that depends on the individual and how much they practice.       @@DaranWallman thank you for your response. are drone sounds and circular breathing necessary for sleep apnea improvements? i can only seem to make a few seconds of "horn" sounds instead of nice low tone drone sounds.. thank you

      @@testing6753 Any sound you can make and any playing you can do will help… The better you can play it the more fun you'll have playing it and the better results you'll get healing sleep apnea.

      How long would you have to play to see significant change in your sleep? Depends upon how much you play/practice. It varies from person to person. Most people notice a difference after a few weeks. I've had clients completely heal their sleep apnea and give their CPAP away after about six months of practice. Practicing around 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening daily.

    What is the best kind of didgeridoo to heal sleep apnea? Long, short, wood type... ?

      It’s just a matter of personal preference. Any didgeridoo that plays well will be effective. The most important thing is that you like the instrument and practice daily.

      It doesn't really matter, any didgeridoo that you enjoy playing. What matters the most is consistent practice.

      Not quite the same benefit as it would be more like trumpeting on the didgeridoo. Do you circular breathe while you’re playing it?

      As long as it has enough back pressure that you can circular breathe while playing it, it will have some benefits.

    How can i do this WITHOUT the digiridoo? A constant drone noise can really get annoying

      You can play a Percussion style with the Didgeridoo that will still strengthen the throat and glottis. The percussive style doesn’t include the drone.

      @@DaranWallman Have you heard about the breather? its a inhale exhale respiratory device to strengthen those muscles. Can that help with Apnea?
      How about blowing balloons? I heard that can help too?
      Another question: why always blowing Out instead of trying to strengthen inhalation?

      @@Sam66519 Yes, I’ve heard about the breather. It looks like it helps with the symptoms but doesn’t heal the underlying cause.
      Blowing balloons would help strengthen the airway muscles…I don’t know many people who would practice blowing up balloons for two 15 minute practice session a day.

      @@Sam66519 Blowing out against resistance helps strengthen the glottis muscle of the throat.

      It varies from person to person as everyone is unique and has different levels of sleep apnea. Most of my students see benefits after a few months of practice. I have had students completely heal their sleep apnea in the six month to a year range. It really depends on the severity of the sleep apnea and how consistent the practice playing the didgeridoo is.
