Actually insane just how detailed and insane these look! Am wanting to make both Doc Ock arms and tasm2's glider so wish me luck XD Thanks for making this I think the part about the lights in particular will be helpful so biggy appreciate it
this is INCREDIBLEEEe, like super amazing, it looks perfect. I've wanted to do a Doc Ock costume with really accurate arms for a while, but I never actually tried because I felt like it was impossible. But I never even tried searching to see if anybody did it and it turns out so many people have done it and it's not that hard!! At least some other people's versions are easier. So I'm 100000% doing this for Halloween next year and I'm probably going to combine techniques from different people for most accuracy and least difficulty, and I'll probably contact you for help.
At 10:01 of the video, I was wondering how you made the tritium in the cosplay video, it looks really well done, (note, I can’t custom design myself), I tried making my own myself, but I failed so instead, I had a the tritium shape 3D printed and now keep it on my shelf. Yours looks a lot better. Also great costume by the way. Spider-Man 2 bring back nostalgic tears
This is awesome I might paint mine Red like no way home with the nano technology but still use your same technique How do I tag you online and let you know my finishing touches on the dr octopus cosplay?
Awesome! I'm planning to cosplay Ock next year (I'm gonna need a lot of time to get the materials and build everything). I might be back with more questions later, but I want to know if there's any lightweight, hard-wearing materials I can use other than EVA foam? Particularly ones that take spray paint really well. If I can avoid EVA foam I'd like to (I just don't like how foam tends to wear), and if it's cheaper than EVA foam that's a HUGE plus. I'd kinda rather work with a material that's more of a pain in the ass to sculpt if it's cheaper and/or longer lasting. Since all my previous cosplays have relied on sewing, jewelry making, and (last year) wig styling (I went as Orpheus from Hades, which is hilarious because that's the first wig I actually styled and it's HUGE). So I'm feeling a bit intimidated by all the hardware going into this costume, mostly because I'm not familiar with the materials. I've done construction jobs, so I know my way around tools and the hardware store, but I've never built anything like this...
Thank you wo much!! Wow, okay… hm. I’ll be honest, i can’t think of anything. I’m definitely no materials expert! :’) I got the Polyurethane Tip (it’s not EVA!) from the girl i mentioned. The thing is, you’ll bump into things ALL the time when wearing him. So you’ll be thankful for material that gives way, and bounces back, rather than something rigid that gets dents and scratches. This is why i’ll harp on polyurethane foam. There might be other two component foams, but i’m not familiar… I wish you the best of luck, though! maybe there are some fursuit builders who make mask bases that could help you out! :)
@@billieslang5864thanks for replying! I've been mulling over materials this past month and decided to just go with foam anyways (especially since I realised the hard tubing inside is gonna be brittle and need some sort of padding to insulate it from shocks). And your point about bumping into folks is really good. I hadn't thought about that, but I'm a huge klutz already, so having the arms be made of a material that won't break when I inevitably walk into a doorway will be a huge plus, lol. I'm still feeling very intimidated by the project, but here's hoping it goes well and I can be the coolest mf at comic con next year :)
Unfortunately not right now, but always go smaller rather than larger. They look really hefty when put together, (I had to redo everything because i made them too big) but the arms in the movie are comparatively slim. Try to think in arms rather than singular segments and eyeball the best thickness for your body/coat size. If you’re shorter, make them thinner.
Arghhh sorry für die späte antwort :’) Ich studiere Medienkulturwissenschaft, vor 11 monaten war ich dann im 2. Semester denke ich. Also falls du das meinst, der cosplay kram ist nur einschätzung und zuversicht :)
I've been working on mine for a few years, and I can speak from experience, there definitely is a lot of trial and error. So many points where I just wanted to pull my hair out and give up. But Sam Raimi is going to be at a convention in a few months, and I'm DETERMINED to get a picture with him in my Doc Ock cosplay.
OHHHH MY GOOODDDDD DUDE I AM SO JEALOUS!!! the shit id give to meet that genius 😅🥲 I wish you a great time and all the success so itll work out! I’m sure hes gonna LOVE IT. Hey I made a doc Ock and I'm remaking it soon for a conviction in Lufkin I could use some point ers
Great job!
Do you have measurements for your first segment made from the EVA foam?
