    My beautiful boy Fin would lie on his leaf when it was dusk an I'd say love you, lights out. He passed in May of this year. Miss him . Even on a not good day looking at him made me happy. He was a ray of sunshine. Excuse me being mushy.

    I NEED to let everyone know that zoo med’s leaf killed my betta, there is a metal bar for shaping the leaf that rusted and contaminated the water. Please don’t take that risk, it was horrible because I couldn’t tell what was wrong with my fish.

    We just got our first fish a few days ago. Our Betta quickly took to its hammock sitting near the top of the tank. He’s chilling on it at the moment, which for some reason I find to be so cute. Love seeing him enjoying it so much. The way the hammock is resting in its first position is sloping up slightly, which looks like it gives Fluffy a bit of an option to sit a little closer or farther from the surface. His body is right near the surface right now as he rests on the higher side and after the water level has gone down slightly. I see others state their fish didn’t care for it, but I’d say it’s well worth a try. Fluffy is s so comfy! 👍😊

    5:45 ! That's awesome! I was struggling to find a way to repurpose that fake betta leaf since I'm using real plants now and so have these very large Catappa leaves. I want them to float slightly rather than sink and this is perfect. My baby male betta, Kaida loves to explore on his large leaf and rest and prefers it to float as it creates a shade away from long periods of intense light when he needs it.

I’ve used these in the past and they seem to enjoy them. BUT one of them the wire poked though and started leaking rust. So it’s important not to play with them too much. I only have one betta in a live-planted 5.5 gallon tank. My old tank had an integrated filter and the pump broke, so I had to get a completely new tank recently. Blue fish loves his new tank. He had quit using the betta bed I had in his old tank, so I didn’t put it into the new tank immediately. (He had lots of real plants to lie on floating at the surface.) When I got around to rooting the plants, he had nothing to lie on for a day or so, and I noticed he was just sort of moping around, so I got out his betta bed and put it in there. He suddenly became much more active and seems so much happier! It’s my belief that bettas need frequent enrichment in their environments and they seem so much more active and happy when there are frequent changes in their tank!

    Make sure to look up how to remove the metal wire that they put in this leaf before you leave it in the tank! It is prone to rusting, and the leaf is stable enough to still support your betta despite not having the wire in it.

    I've never tried anything like that... but I do know my betta enjoys resting on plant leaves, the plastic that holds his feeding ring and against the wall of the tank near the filter intake (I think he likes it because it holds him in place and he can be lazy lol). Anywhere is fair game but those are his favorite places, he even has a particular leaf he prefers to rest on that belongs to an amazon sword plant lol.

    My old betta would use it sometimes, then I wouldn't see him use it for weeks or months. Very variable! I did float a couple of decent sized crypts in his tank for a while, before re-scaping another tank, and he LOVED sleeping in among the structures of those. Indian almond leaves often float for a couple of days, and he would also use those while they were at the surface. 🙂

      @@mytinyfishtank4696 it can definitely fill out a tank easily, for sure. In my experience, pothos can survive without a lot of lighting. I had one pot growing in my room nowhere near a light source except for the overhead ceiling light, but I later put it in a tank. I have one clipping in my 3 gallon tub with platy fry that is in one of those cubical shelving systems. It doesn't get much light at all due to the shelf above it. The plant hasn't grown really, but it hasn't died, either. So it definitely does better with lighting and especially good lighting, but can survive without much light.

    I have heard you can control the sex of the eggs for newborn betta by using the temp of the water. As over 90% of my bettas are males and I really don't get any females. I am hopeing you could provide some info regarding water temps for controlling the sex of the fry.
    Looking forward to your reply.

    I use the betta leaf for my dwarf frogs! I have a betta in with them, but my betta doesn't care about any of the betta products. I've been using the betta leaf for the frogs long before this particular betta was in with them, anyhow. They're poor swimmers, and like to rest near the surface. So as long as you keep resting spots like betta leaves under parts of the tank with a lid, they will rest there and be happy. (They are still frogs and can jump, so don't put them in a place right near the surface with no lid.)

      I'm glad that they are working well for your frogs! I was wondering of the other species recomendations were accurate or not..but so far seems like it!

      @Mimiheart9 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CreativePetKeeping Yeah, I can't answer for the other species. But they definitely do work for ADFs. I have other tanks with bettas, and I use the leaves and betta logs in those tanks. My bigger-than-a-king betta loves his leaf. The sorority girls prefer a floating anubias and pothos roots. One loves the betta log, but the others don't seem to care. I have a molly that loves the betta leaf, but she's weird.

  • @umno806

    Honestly it depends on the betta. I’ve had multiple in the past and some of them used them every day and some of them are indifferent to the leaf and generally ignore them.

    • @kidwolf0015
      @kidwolf0015 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, absolutely not. I will say that the pet and show line palakats can be really social towards humans and can often be trained tricks. These boys are just really mellow, which makes wonder if they're showline plakats. Usually, however, they're supposed to be MORE aggressive... Unfortunately, Plakats are frequently fighting-line bettas bred for betta fights. However, it should be noted that most true fighting-line bettas are extremely viscous and WILL try to attack you. They aren't the cute, friendly people-pleasing pets that we're used to. In some ways, I can't help but view them as more undomesticated than actual wild bettas. At least most wild bettas won't go out of thier way to bite your finger off... without being provoked... They also tend to have much larger heads and mouths than normal.

    • @kidwolf0015
      @kidwolf0015 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard of some people trying to tame them, but I feel like it's extremely dangerous to try to care for one. I definitely wouldn't EVER try to put one in a community tank. There's even a video where someone was at a Petco that was trying to sell a fighting-line cull, and then the guy showed his finger at him. He (the betta) snapped so hard that the ENTIRE shelf started to shake....
      That's the sort of aggression fighting-line "king" plakat bettas can have.

    You need to bend it a little and put it closer to the suface.
    They work better where there is no water current, so they wont slide or fall.
    And yeah after 8 or so months, the leaves start showing discoloration or some sort of "peeling" close to the middle wire. Anyways they can last for all your bettas life, and they are auper cheap like 2 or 3 usd
    All my Bettas have loved them (male or female)

    Something that concerns me about a lot of these plastic products marketed towards betta fish is I rarely read "BPA FREE", and I don't want something that could leek harmful substances into my tank over time.

    I notice that when one of my goldfish tries to sleep/rest she usually tried to sleep up and against the corner of the tank rather then the bottom like the rest, I’m thinking about buying one do u think it’ll be a good idea? Or a waste of money
