Richard, these cars run a heavy clutch which gives them the best power transfer to the rear. I ran a heavy steel flywheel also. When I ran my 55 chevy, would come off the line at 5500 to 6000 rpm, dump the clutch and let it rip. Didn't let off the gas, just pounding gears. Good old days. Don't know how guys afford it these days.
The South East Gassers website has lots of detailed information including the strictly enforced rules. The same website has features and advertisements for companies that can build a gasser to meet the rules. Check out www.southeastgassers.com
So the rules stipulate manual 4 speed transmissions. Can some one explain to me why the way these cars launch they look like they have transbrakes? Fantastic video.
Love the GASSERS.
Gassers are the greatest! Love ‘em! 📕
Thanks for watching!

Exactly dude! Love tha Gassers! The NHRA should have them with their own class. Like pro mod. At least 10 races. 🤘🏼
I have always loved the Gassers. I especially love hearing a woman talk shop like she knows her business.
Thanks James

It's called a clutch pedal no trans break. You drove those cars with both hands and both feet working
Cause when you dump the clutch at 5500 rpm it’s like a kick in your ASS! It takes Real driving.
When you step off the clutch at 7k, they leave hard!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
