Fading Pages: The End of an Era at Rawalpindi Saddar's Old Book Bazaar?

- For over 50 years, the Old Book Bazaar in Rawalpindi Saddar has witnessed a transformation. Once teeming with vibrant book stalls and bustling with avid readers and buyers of old books, the bazaar now stands at a crossroads. The advent of social media, a decline in reading habits, dwindling readership, escalating book prices, and the pervasive grip of inflation have collectively dealt a blow to this historic marketplace.
This decline poses a looming threat to the existence of the Old Book Bazaar. Without intervention or a revival of reading culture, it's feared that this venerable marketplace may succumb to the pressures of modernisation and eventually fade into the annals of history.

I have known this gentleman since 2004 -5 and over last 20 odd years I have bought a lot of memorable books from his stall. The aura and scent of old books on original prints were irresistable. It's so sad to see the looming end of an era , the charm of buying books from stalls,. Sadly there is nothing much that van be done about it.
