He's actively encouraging his eating disorder whereas Eugenia isn't. Now days, the social standard is body positivity and being 'thicc,' which is typically aimed towards overweight and plus sized people to not change even though they have poor eating habits. So I think its safe to say that young people are trying to emulate him to some degree since they're more likely going to support and encourage someone of his size than someone of Eugenia's size (I mean, even the girl didn't hold the man accountable for his obviously unhealthy eating habits). Also, 99% of Eugenia's comments are against her body image, not for it- with only a handful actually wanting to look like her, soooooo.
I'm so glad you brought this up!! My sister died from a massive stroke brought on by high blood pressure due to morbid obesity. She was 44. Being morbidly obese is very unhealthy but we have to give them a pass because their feelings are more important than those who suffer from Anorexia. Right. (yes, that is sarcasm).
Eugenia is not going to be helped by people calling her ugly. As you intimated, that probably only exacerbates the issue. Moreover, one thing I think a lot of people who express concern are unaware of, is that moving out of a malnourished diet can actually be very dangerous if not handled carefully. If Eugenia just "ate a couple cheeseburgers" or whatever, in the way so many people flippantly address her disorder, she could actually get seriously ill or even die as a result of refeeding syndrome. Anorexia is a really complex disorder that isn't solved by insulting the patient.

Kati Morton gets rightfully criticised tbh. I think you missed the part of the 5150 drama where Jaclyn exposed that Kati helped her trick Eugenia into it, she changed her stance once Shane decided he wanted her in his documentary. If you notice in the Eugenia clips you added, she always says “we” to make it seem like a more accepting environment for people who suffer with mental illness, however in Shane’s series on Jake Paul she goes out of her way to separate herself from antisocial personality disorder and refers to people who suffer with it as “sociopaths”, “gross”, “creepy” and is willing to diagnose Jake without his knowledge. She’s completely unethical and unreliable as a therapist despite what she claims. I really liked this video despite that one error, though!

She also claims to have a lot of experience with people who suffer from eating disorders but on her site she’s listed as a Marriage and Family therapist. Her qualifications are extremely questionable tbh.
i agree with this whole comment. willy was very critical of jaclyn for the 5150 here when the supposed ‘professional’ we’re supposed to be listening to is the one that recommended it in the first place then completely dismissed 5150s entirely and in doing so just reaffirmed everything eugenia tells herself to stay sick right in front of her. now that she’s relapsed i imagine it will be a lot more difficult for her to seek treatment by choice again..

If you’ve ever been put in that position where you have to 5150 your family member or friend it’s truly one of the most difficult things you ever have to do. Jaclyn knew she was going to lose Eugenia as a friend and she was willing to do that if it meant possibly saving her life. It’s common for the people who were 5150’d to resent the people who called for it, that doesn’t make them bad people or mean they were entirely in the wrong. It’s worth keeping in mind that DrewIsSharing stayed with Eugenia in 2015, Jaclyn saw her at one of her worst moments with her disorder- of course you’re going to react differently!
As a past addict, I don't believe in interventions. I don't agree with "tough love". You can't bully someone into recovery, it'll never last. So I'm not on the side of the tea channels at all. But I also know that addicts will lie for their addiction, or even just be in denial. So I don't believe every single thing that Eugenia claims, if she isn't ready to get help. She will downplay everything to keep her life how it is, with her in control of her ED. Not her Mom, not TH-cam. She has to want it.
That's the sad reality. I ended up getting sober as well, but at first I ended up being pushed into AA meetings, outpatient and rehab. All these things only made it worse. Years later I finally woke up and realized if I kept going like that, I would die sooner and I've been sober for 5 years, all because of my own willpower. My brother is still an addict though, and refuses to see there's a problem. All me and my family can do is wait for a tragedy to happen with him. In situations like this, you can't help a person. It's very sad. And the same thing is happening with Eugenia.
Eugenia is the strongest person on the internet. Everything she's been put through and she still smiles and is so sweet I'm amazed at her strength and beauty.

I was thinking the same thing! Jaclyn has stood up for Eugenia for YEARS. So it’s so sad to see people act like she didn’t care about her till the 5150.
Some valid criticisms, but you can’t ignore that Kati was literally the one who suggested 5150 to Jaclyn and told her that the best move would be to get her out of the house and call the PET team, then went on camera with Eugenia and talked negatively about it. For a licensed therapist Kati handled the Jake Paul “sociopath” thing terribly and she has also done paid promotions for better help who have been known to be pretty sketchy.
I think Jaclyn made it more anonymous about who the person is as, by Jaclyn account, she did all of the conversations over the phone. There is also the possibility that Dr. Morton said that the 5150 should be used as a last resort and not as a first response, which the latter Jacyln did. The Jake Paul thing might've been outside her area of expertise and that may be why her actions in that Jake Paul video were... less than stellar. Other than that, I don't think that a psychiatrist that deal with anorexia would suggest a 5150 out of the gate

To be honest I've had an on off ED since I was 14 I'm 22 now. I used to watch EC but it never ever triggered me. Pastel belle's shaming, misinformation, "Im a more moral anorexia victim than you" kind of videos triggered me more than EC ever has. I'm responsible for my own triggers and make my own decisions to watch the videos which is why you don't see me making a mass petition to remove her from TH-cam but her videos have triggered alot of people and she has not once taken accountability like she wants Eugenia Cooney to. If she is going to be a hypocrite she should atleast be honest

Yes, she got advice from several health care professionals about what the best thing to do for her, including Kati Morton. Most people who have had this happen to them also hated it at the time, but look back and are incredibly grateful for it. Myself included, I was detained in a psych hospital when I was 19. It saved my life.
i don’t believe jaclyn was entirely at fault here. she didn’t even know what a 5150 was until kati morton brought it up and kati encouraged her to lure her away from her mother instead of advising her to communicate with her about eugenia’s deteriorating health. she’s a therapist who said she has a lot of experience with people who have eating disorders yet she botched this entire intervention then turned on jaclyn once she saw an opportunity to speak to eugenia. i wouldn’t trust any youtube therapist when it comes to them naming out their qualifications and experience because they very often turn out to be extremely shady and a lot less qualified than they claim to be lmfao

They won’t admit you at all. So the fact she was 5150’d, even if only for 48 hours, shows they had cause to hold her. @@madison3514 exactly - i’ve been in a situation where they had cause to hold me, it was traumatising and i hated every second of it but looking back, i can see i needed it and how it was just as difficult for the people who called them for me. i can say that if some tea channels and a scam artist who claims to be a therapist made content out of the state i was in too it definitely would’ve worsened my situation rather than helped what i was going through at the time

I've been saying this for years. The only bad thing I have personally seen her do was all that creepy stuff her mods were up to on her discord server, which she ended up dealing with and apologizing for. Just having an ED doesn't make you pro ana. I've personally never seen her promoting pro ana content. Everyone wants to ban her, but since she isn't actually promoting it I don't see why this is the narrative that's being pushed so hard.
I agree that someone who makes music while having an eating disorder does not make their music pro eating disorder, but her eating disorder and the body it produces is visible and the subject of her content. Do you think that Eugenia has not influenced anyone into a situation like hers?

I think what’s really disgusting is how the girl framed Eugenia posting pictures of herself with positive self help quotes as “pro ana”. As someone who’s gotten help for several mental disorders, including anorexia, self help quotes are a way of helping! Therapists teach you to surround yourself with positive messages and self help quotes to promote healthy behavior and positive thoughts. Like, she’s doing great work to better herself; these people clearly have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about.

@@MC-hj8wv when people say the term “body dysmorphia”, they are talking about the very real phenomenon of a person seeing a different version of themselves than the outside world sees them. When I look back at photos of when I was my skinniest, I am SHOCKED because, when I took those pictures, I 100% believed I looked 200 pounds, when I weighed 120 and looked somewhat similar to Eugenia. If she was not anorexic, and did everything she does right now the same, NO ONE would say she was pro Ana, or body checking, or encouraging eating disorders. She would be just another Pokimane. She's been this way for a decade and is through her actions and speech pro ana, making a career out of showcasing her body, and referring to it as fine, ok, or something to be proud of. I didn't initially want to watch this but I'm glad I did. I've been aware of Eugenia since I was pretty young and struggling with an ED myself and had a friend struggling wore than I was, though I never actually considered myself a fan/watched her videos because it has made me uncomfortable but Back then I did think videos the tea channels were making could help, like if she has nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, she'd finally get shocked out of it or something, and finally have to get better. The thing you don't realize when thinking like that is if someone has a gun to their head, you don't get them to put it down by telling them "if you pull that trigger you'll die!" That's just not how you help a hurting person. And for me, the scariest thing was the idea of getting "found out" and people thinking I'm suicidal and wanting to send me away, the most calming thing for me was having a friend who knows what's going on and will hug me when they know I need it, someone who knows what's going on but is willing to not say it out loud for a while and just let me grow and stand by my while I do. Everybody is different, but the issue is that all of these people believe these things need to be said for Eugenias sake or for people watching who are struggling with the same thing. You just don't need to say these things. Your words aren't important. And none of these people have ever been willing to meet her where she is and just tell her "you're ok, you're beautiful, you're loved, you're gonna get through this and I'll support you however you need." They've decided what she needs. Telling someone they're gonna die doesn't stop them from pulling the trigger. If you care about her, pray for her and her family and stop talking about her, hope there are people around her who actually support her. Know whether or not you can be that for someone in your life, and realize a person making videos on the internet doesn't have the means to help *Eugenia Cooney*, try actually supporting the people in your life and letting her have that for herself. If you had a person in your life who was struggling with anorexia, would you break apart their body publicly? Would you isolate them from love and support? OK I don't have true reason to believe her mom is malicious other than the clip where she made Eugenia change into a bathing suit in the middle of a clothing store and Eugenia being really uncomfortable, but the guy staying over for a week also doesn't disprove anything. My parents would also be the kindest people you ever met if you stayed over for a week. They'd bake you cakes and cookies watch movies be funny and all around nice people, but as soon as the doors close they would yell at me and beat me. That's fucking why nobody ever believed me. Like wtf do you expect him to have seen there? Iron chains hanging from the wall? Abusers aren't always open about what they do lol they won't just give you a free show into their lives. Exactly, I have one friend that me and other friends had this image of them being lucky and having a fun family but we grew up and saw the sad reality it was. It's like that movie virgin suicides, we never know what a family really is like (plus the video Eugenia's tries clothes her mom bought she's with tears in her eyes through all the video, like she didn't wanted to do it but she's too afraid to make her mom upset)
Yea, I overall agree with the general premise of his video (especially calling Pastel Belle and iNabber out, people who have grossly capitalized on others’ issues to act holier than thou), but the part about the parents being great because one guy said so is basically the same as what tea channels are doing, just on the opposite side. It greatly glosses over some of the genuine criticism that people have brought up on that topic. Is it coming from people who didn’t personally know her parents like the guy? Sure, but a guy staying with them for one week also doesn’t necessarily mean he knows them better than anyone else, either, nor does it automatically cancel out everything else others have said. It’s like taking one extreme to combat another. Another instance that was very poorly researched was how so much praise was given to Kati Morton for speaking with Eugenia and making it seem like because she’s a professional she knows it best, but failed to look into it mention how she helped Jaclyn Glenn set up the 51-50. Not only helped set it up, but _actively_ encouraged it. Even went as far as to agree with Jaclyn’s stance, but that was only until it became better for her image to go against it when Shane started to do a video with Eugenia did she back away. Can’t forget how she diagnosed Jake Paul as being a sociopath while having never met the guy personally, yet turns and claims she’d never do such things to people. Another big thing was how she heavily promoted Better Help and encouraged her viewers to throw money at that site without even bothering to look into it, as well. Basically showing how even as a “professional”, she was promoting very scummy sites because she was paid a decent amount to do so even at the expense of her viewers’ mental health. She’s a pretty poor example to point to and only gets credit because of her sub count and connection with other big YTers. There are plenty of other professionals who have made YT videos on this topic that would’ve gave a better insight into such a delicate topic, imo. I know the only reason he put the clip in of her and have her praise was because _she_ was the one who sat down with Eugenia, but I don’t think it was out of care or anything. It was because of who she was, who she knew, etc. Everything else is spot on, though, and really shows the hypocrisy and lack of actual care from the tea channels general (only thing they care about is views), but it’s getting slowly overshadowed by two very big things that should’ve had a bit more time put into, as well …. because it’s the same shit tea channels would do to imply a certain narrative. I love how these videos have been able to open up a new dialogue online where people feel comfortable to counter these tea channels and start actually calling them out for what they are doing, but can’t exactly call them out for doing certain things when the same tactics are being deployed. It’s hypocritical, and I hope he can see these comments and understand where a lot are coming from.

Something that always intrigued me about these channels is that they love to prop themselves up as some sort of righteous heroes and that they can do no wrong, but in the end, they're just like the rest of us (as in everyone is not perfect and flawed)

You should check out ofherbsandaltars' videos about her if you haven't already, he has a great point of view as someone with an eating disorder who goes through a lot of the same things as Eugenia.

I’m going to be honest I haven’t paid much attention to the Eugenia Cooney drama since 2019 as to my mind everything that could have been said about her had already been said by then. I’m honestly shocked to learn that it wasn’t jaclyn Glenn who got Eugenia medical help and that they weren’t even that close. It completely changes my understanding of the events from 2019. As for the tea channels I’ve never been interested in what they have to say about anything but they are so much worse than I could have imagined. Pastel belles Ghoulish coverage of Eugenia is particularly disturbing. Claiming to want to help someone whilst demonising them and trying to deplatform them is particularly horrible. Great video. Very informative.
It's also so unfair to use the "she's thinspo for some people, so she has to leave" argument. EVERY thin celebrity is thinspo for someone. Even celebrities who are a healthy weight are thinspo for heavier girls who have eating disorders. These people are spouting complete bunk with zero understanding of what an eating disorder actually entails. It's not like your brain is poisoned by seeing a thin person. You are already sick and you find whatever you can to cling to and project onto.

I'm really late but I'm definitely one of the chumps who used to watch tea channels and really thought they were trying to help. It's better late than never to get away from these folks but it's good to have an eloquent breakdown on all the bad intentions radiating off this clique.
While I agree with the criticism towards the tea channels I would thread lightly with using katie morton as a credible source. She helped jaclyn with the 5150 and she's also has been criticized for her overall conduct on TH-cam by other mental health professionals. She's a family therapist so I don't think we should take everything she says about eating disorder as gospel since she's not even working in that field of mental health. I liked the video overall but you should've looked a bit more into katie.
Also you should look into Jacklyn Glen’s info on Eugenia regarding doctors. I forgot where I heard it from but another reason is apparently prior to 5150 Eugenia hasn’t been to a doctor check up for a very long time. The whole conspiracy was started because of that.

What I don't understand is how people can go after Eugenia Cooney because she is starving herself but then don't go after Mukbang channels that are gorging themselves to death. I feel that this is sending a message that it's okay to be overweight and overeat but not okay to be thin? I just find it a complexing comparison.
I don't agree at all. Many of the mukbangers look healthy. It's not so much the amount of for or lack there of that Eugenia eats. It's that she is getting heart attacks and losing circulation in her legs. When obese mukbangers like the youtuber fat chick (that's her name on yt) display their life style, I bet you anything youtube forum members are not be okay with that. For example, fat chick. Her like to dislike ratio is always low. That's because she is mega obese. No shame. I wish her healthiness and vitality. But just like people have a problem with anorexic bodies, they are potentially crueler to obese bodies. Anorexic bodies were "in fashion" in the sixties and was praised. Now "thick" bodies are in fashion. But I think any reasonable person knows that an eating disorder is an eating disorder, whether you are a binge eater or anorexic. And they deserve to be healthy and happy.
I have seen plenty of the same channels go after Nik Avacado, but even then, he doesn't use mods on his channel that are convicted pedophiles that go after her underage fans. She knows this and does nothing about it.

I agree with Boogie take on mental illness. Too many times, I've seen people from my art community go after people for being sick while justifying/excusing/dogpiling/hate train sending to the sick artist even though these same people will be all to happy to pull the mental health card of their own. I'm been unhinged in the past will it be due to my mental health, anger issues, anxiety, instability of emotional control, losing stability in my life, etc... But I made sure to acknowledged that I fucked up/made a mistake and still need to take the L as a means to learn from it. When I do bring up the things listed above, I do so to show that I'm not perfect, I probably need some medical/physiological help, and that I'm probably going to continue making mistakes as I get older. Sadly, the community doesn't feel the same way as me and feel as if I need to shut up my angsty/negative emotions even though they do the very same thing/things as me. But hey these "communities" need someone hate, am I right lol.

As someone who struggled/struggles with an eating disorder I do find it hard to watch Eugenia. This is not a reason to deplatform her, it's up to me to avoid content I find harmful.
I unironically feel sad and empathy for Eugenia. I am diagnosed with bpd which a lot of people have eating disorders as well. Seeing her makes me sick because I know what it's like to suffer in self harm and I'd hate someone to hurt like I did. Luckily for me, I only suffered with cutting and threats of suicide. I could actually see myself going down her path. Beyond my tired rambling, I generally want her to feel better.
I am diagnosed bpd as well and this is true! i also am diagnosed with an ED. it can get tough and having so many little bugs intruding and trying to analyze you, your family and motives while also insulting your appearance extremely. eugenia is probably SO. SO. exhausted. she probably thinks more people dislike her and that is so damaging for her and recovery. literally all she wants to do is the thingz she loves and to not be criticized for living her life. ik how difficult it can be to recover when you feel like u have no one on ur side :( i feel for her.

The fact of the matter is that they aren't intimidated by the morbidly obese. All the tea channels are incredibly superficially concerned with appearances. So despite the fact that Eugenia literally has an eating disorder, they're on some level jealous of her being skinny (even though it's a literal medical affliction). But since she's too skinny they feel free to mock and harass her. They get dopamine rush and get payed by TH-cam to mock someone.

As someone that has battled eating disorders on both drastic ends, I am heartbroken seeing people not recognizing that people like myself would use hobbies and social media to keep ourselves distracted. (Eugenia is clearly using fashion and videos as her distractions. I.e. keeps her going). When those things are taken away, there is nothing to distract from self harm. Why can’t people see the long history of deaths of those with eating disorders stemmed from their distractions taken away? Look how many become obsessed even further with eating disorders, self injury, and/or drug use. It’s a whole lot Next as for body checking, absolutely not. Body checking is done in private. The things you’d never let anyone see. I’m talking underwear/naked in off positions to find anything gross about yourself to change. Now days, the social standard is body positivity and being 'thicc,' which is typically aimed towards overweight and plus sized people to not change even though they have poor eating habits. So I think its safe to say that young people are trying to emulate him to some degree since they're more likely going to support and encourage someone of his size than someone of Eugenia's size (I mean, even the girl didn't hold the man accountable for his obviously unhealthy eating habits). I'm so glad you brought this up!! My sister died from a massive stroke brought on by high blood pressure due to morbid obesity. She was 44. Being morbidly obese is very unhealthy but we have to give them a pass because their feelings are more important than those who suffer from Anorexia. Right. (yes, that is sarcasm).
Eugenia is not going to be helped by people calling her ugly. As you intimated, that probably only exacerbates the issue. Moreover, one thing I think a lot of people who express concern are unaware of, is that moving out of a malnourished diet can actually be very dangerous if not handled carefully. If Eugenia just "ate a couple cheeseburgers" or whatever, in the way so many people flippantly address her disorder, she could actually get seriously ill or even die as a result of refeeding syndrome. Anorexia is a really complex disorder that isn't solved by insulting the patient.

I think you missed the part of the 5150 drama where Jaclyn exposed that Kati helped her trick Eugenia into it, she changed her stance once Shane decided he wanted her in his documentary. If you notice in the Eugenia clips you added, she always says “we” to make it seem like a more accepting environment for people who suffer with mental illness, however in Shane’s series on Jake Paul she goes out of her way to separate herself from antisocial personality disorder and refers to people who suffer with it as “sociopaths”, “gross”, “creepy” and is willing to diagnose Jake without his knowledge. She’s completely unethical and unreliable as a therapist despite what she claims. I really liked this video despite that one error, though!

She also claims to have a lot of experience with people who suffer from eating disorders but on her site she’s listed as a Marriage and Family therapist. i agree with this whole comment. willy was very critical of jaclyn for the 5150 here when the supposed ‘professional’ we’re supposed to be listening to is the one that recommended it in the first place then completely dismissed 5150s entirely and in doing so just reaffirmed everything eugenia tells herself to stay sick right in front of her. now that she’s relapsed i imagine it will be a lot more difficult for her to seek treatment by choice again..

If you’ve ever been put in that position where you have to 5150 your family member or friend it’s truly one of the most difficult things you ever have to do. Jaclyn knew she was going to lose Eugenia as a friend and she was willing to do that if it meant possibly saving her life. It’s common for the people who were 5150’d to resent the people who called for it, that doesn’t make them bad people or mean they were entirely in the wrong. It’s worth keeping in mind that DrewIsSharing stayed with Eugenia in 2015, Jaclyn saw her at one of her worst moments with her disorder- of course you’re going to react differently!
As a past addict, I don't believe in interventions. I don't agree with "tough love". You can't bully someone into recovery, it'll never last. So I'm not on the side of the tea channels at all. But I also know that addicts will lie for their addiction, or even just be in denial. So I don't believe every single thing that Eugenia claims, if she isn't ready to get help. She will downplay everything to keep her life how it is, with her in control of her ED. Not her Mom, not TH-cam. She has to want it.

That's the sad reality. I ended up getting sober as well, but at first I ended up being pushed into AA meetings, outpatient and rehab. All these things only made it worse. Years later I finally woke up and realized if I kept going like that, I would die sooner and I've been sober for 5 years, all because of my own willpower. My brother is still an addict though, and refuses to see there's a problem. All me and my family can do is wait for a tragedy to happen with him. In situations like this, you can't help a person. It's very sad. And the same thing is happening with Eugenia.
Usually the start of the treatment is supposed to get enough food in the system that their brain starts to function normally again.
Eugenia is the strongest person on the internet. Everything she's been put through and she still smiles and is so sweet I'm amazed at her strength and beauty.

Some valid criticisms, but you can’t ignore that Kati was literally the one who suggested 5150 to Jaclyn and told her that the best move would be to get her out of the house and call the PET team, then went on camera with Eugenia and talked negatively about it. For a licensed therapist Kati handled the Jake Paul “sociopath” thing terribly and she has also done paid promotions for better help who have been known to be pretty sketchy.
I think Jaclyn made it more anonymous about who the person is as, by Jaclyn account, she did all of the conversations over the phone.
There is also the possibility that Dr. Morton said that the 5150 should be used as a last resort and not as a first response, which the latter Jacyln did.
The Jake Paul thing might've been outside her area of expertise and that may be why her actions in that Jake Paul video were... less than stellar.
Other than that, I don't think that a psychiatrist that deal with anorexia would suggest a 5150 out of the gate

To be honest I've had an on off ED since I was 14 I'm 22 now. I used to watch EC but it never ever triggered me. Pastel belle's shaming, misinformation, "Im a more moral anorexia victim than you" kind of videos triggered me more than EC ever has. I'm responsible for my own triggers and make my own decisions to watch the videos which is why you don't see me making a mass petition to remove her from TH-cam but her videos have triggered alot of people and she has not once taken accountability like she wants Eugenia Cooney to. If she is going to be a hypocrite she should atleast be honest

Yes, she got advice from several health care professionals about what the best thing to do for her, including Kati Morton. Most people who have had this happen to them also hated it at the time, but look back and are incredibly grateful for it. Myself included, I was detained in a psych hospital when I was 19. It saved my life.

Agreed with this. I don’t like how being 5150’d is portrayed. “Being thrown into a psych ward” is not what a 5150 entails. And also, they will not hold you if they don’t think you need it. They won’t admit you at all. So the fact she was 5150’d, even if only for 48 hours, shows they had cause to hold her.
I agree that these yea channels are trash and know literally nothing about the situation but I also think that Jaclyn has more credibility than what some people are saying.

@@madison3514 exactly - i’ve been in a situation where they had cause to hold me, it was traumatising and i hated every second of it but looking back, i can see i needed it and how it was just as difficult for the people who called them for me. i can say that if some tea channels and a scam artist who claims to be a therapist made content out of the state i was in too it definitely would’ve worsened my situation rather than helped what i was going through at the time

I think what’s really disgusting is how the girl framed Eugenia posting pictures of herself with positive self help quotes as “pro ana”. As someone who’s gotten help for several mental disorders, including anorexia, self help quotes are a way of helping! Therapists teach you to surround yourself with positive messages and self help quotes to promote healthy behavior and positive thoughts. Like, she’s doing great work to better herself; these people clearly have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about.
Eugenia Cooney does pro Ana content constantly. It only takes a cursory glance through her content, and some critical thinking, to see that.

When I look back at photos of when I was my skinniest, I am SHOCKED because, when I took those pictures, I 100% believed I looked 200 pounds, when I weighed 120 and looked somewhat similar to Eugenia. If she was not anorexic, and did everything she does right now the same, NO ONE would say she was pro Ana, or body checking, or encouraging eating disorders. She would be just another Pokimane. She's been this way for a decade and is through her actions and speech pro ana, making a career out of showcasing her body, and referring to it as fine, ok, or something to be proud of. Her rapidly degrading body doesn't care what she sees. She is capable of changing her behavior, to eat enough food to live.
I didn't initially want to watch this but I'm glad I did. I've been aware of Eugenia since I was pretty young and struggling with an ED myself and had a friend struggling wore than I was, though I never actually considered myself a fan/watched her videos because it has made me uncomfortable but Back then I did think videos the tea channels were making could help, like if she has nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, she'd finally get shocked out of it or something, and finally have to get better. The thing you don't realize when thinking like that is if someone has a gun to their head, you don't get them to put it down by telling them "if you pull that trigger you'll die!" That's just not how you help a hurting person. And for me, the scariest thing was the idea of getting "found out" and people thinking I'm suicidal and wanting to send me away, the most calming thing for me was having a friend who knows what's going on and will hug me when they know I need it, someone who knows what's going on but is willing to not say it out loud for a while and just let me grow and stand by my while I do. Everybody is different, but the issue is that all of these people believe these things need to be said for Eugenias sake or for people watching who are struggling with the same thing. You just don't need to say these things. Your words aren't important. And none of these people have ever been willing to meet her where she is and just tell her "you're ok, you're beautiful, you're loved, you're gonna get through this and I'll support you however you need." They've decided what she needs. Telling someone they're gonna die doesn't stop them from pulling the trigger. If you care about her, pray for her and her family and stop talking about her, hope there are people around her who actually support her. Know whether or not you can be that for someone in your life, and realize a person making videos on the internet doesn't have the means to help *Eugenia Cooney*, try actually supporting the people in your life and letting her have that for herself. If you had a person in your life who was struggling with anorexia, would you break apart their body publicly? Would you isolate them from love and support? Would you make up rumors about their parents? If you would, I pray for anyone in your life who may be struggling. Realize your place, and if you're out of it, step back.
Sorry for the long comment, but as a person who struggles daily with an ED and who has helped friends with Ed in the past, it makes me so angry because I know when I was at my worst, this is what would have killed me.

OK I don't have true reason to believe her mom is malicious other than the clip where she made Eugenia change into a bathing suit in the middle of a clothing store and Eugenia being really uncomfortable, but the guy staying over for a week also doesn't disprove anything. My parents would also be the kindest people you ever met if you stayed over for a week. They'd bake you cakes and cookies watch movies be funny and all around nice people, but as soon as the doors close they would yell at me and beat me. That's fucking why nobody ever believed me. Like wtf do you expect him to have seen there? Iron chains hanging from the wall? Abusers aren't always open about what they do lol they won't just give you a free show into their lives. I'm not saying I have proof that Eugenia is being abused but I also know that the internet is incapable of fathoming nuance and I would not encourage people to jump into either camp. Exactly, I have one friend that me and other friends had this image of them being lucky and having a fun family but we grew up and saw the sad reality it was. It's like that movie virgin suicides, we never know what a family really is like (plus the video Eugenia's tries clothes her mom bought she's with tears in her eyes through all the video, like she didn't wanted to do it but she's too afraid to make her mom upset)
Yea, I overall agree with the general premise of his video (especially calling Pastel Belle and iNabber out, people who have grossly capitalized on others’ issues to act holier than thou), but the part about the parents being great because one guy said so is basically the same as what tea channels are doing, just on the opposite side.
It greatly glosses over some of the genuine criticism that people have brought up on that topic.
Is it coming from people who didn’t personally know her parents like the guy? Sure, but a guy staying with them for one week also doesn’t necessarily mean he knows them better than anyone else, either, nor does it automatically cancel out everything else others have said. It’s like taking one extreme to combat another.
Another instance that was very poorly researched was how so much praise was given to Kati Morton for speaking with Eugenia and making it seem like because she’s a professional she knows it best, but failed to look into it mention how she helped Jaclyn Glenn set up the 51-50. Not only helped set it up, but _actively_ encouraged it. Even went as far as to agree with Jaclyn’s stance, but that was only until it became better for her image to go against it when Shane started to do a video with Eugenia did she back away. Can’t forget how she diagnosed Jake Paul as being a sociopath while having never met the guy personally, yet turns and claims she’d never do such things to people.
Another big thing was how she heavily promoted Better Help and encouraged her viewers to throw money at that site without even bothering to look into it, as well. Basically showing how even as a “professional”, she was promoting very scummy sites because she was paid a decent amount to do so even at the expense of her viewers’ mental health. She’s a pretty poor example to point to and only gets credit because of her sub count and connection with other big YTers. There are plenty of other professionals who have made YT videos on this topic that would’ve gave a better insight into such a delicate topic, imo.
I know the only reason he put the clip in of her and have her praise was because _she_ was the one who sat down with Eugenia, but I don’t think it was out of care or anything. It was because of who she was, who she knew, etc.
Everything else is spot on, though, and really shows the hypocrisy and lack of actual care from the tea channels general (only thing they care about is views), but it’s getting slowly overshadowed by two very big things that should’ve had a bit more time put into, as well …. because it’s the same shit tea channels would do to imply a certain narrative.
I love how these videos have been able to open up a new dialogue online where people feel comfortable to counter these tea channels and start actually calling them out for what they are doing, but can’t exactly call them out for doing certain things when the same tactics are being deployed. It’s hypocritical, and I hope he can see these comments and understand where a lot are coming from.

I’m going to be honest I haven’t paid much attention to the Eugenia Cooney drama since 2019 as to my mind everything that could have been said about her had already been said by then. I’m honestly shocked to learn that it wasn’t jaclyn Glenn who got Eugenia medical help and that they weren’t even that close. It completely changes my understanding of the events from 2019.
As for the tea channels I’ve never been interested in what they have to say about anything but they are so much worse than I could have imagined. Pastel belles Ghoulish coverage of Eugenia is particularly disturbing. Claiming to want to help someone whilst demonising them and trying to deplatform them is particularly horrible. Great video. Very informative.

I'm really late but I'm definitely one of the chumps who used to watch tea channels and really thought they were trying to help. It's better late than never to get away from these folks but it's good to have an eloquent breakdown on all the bad intentions radiating off this clique.
While I agree with the criticism towards the tea channels I would thread lightly with using katie morton as a credible source. She helped jaclyn with the 5150 and she's also has been criticized for her overall conduct on TH-cam by other mental health professionals. She's a family therapist so I don't think we should take everything she says about eating disorder as gospel since she's not even working in that field of mental health. I liked the video overall but you should've looked a bit more into katie.
Also you should look into Jacklyn Glen’s info on Eugenia regarding doctors. I forgot where I heard it from but another reason is apparently prior to 5150 Eugenia hasn’t been to a doctor check up for a very long time. The whole conspiracy was started because of that.
Katie Morton primarily works with eating disordered patients, so eating disorders are the only thing you should trust her on.

I agree with Boogie take on mental illness. Too many times, I've seen people from my art community go after people for being sick while justifying/excusing/dogpiling/hate train sending to the sick artist even though these same people will be all to happy to pull the mental health card of their own.
I'm been unhinged in the past will it be due to my mental health, anger issues, anxiety, instability of emotional control, losing stability in my life, etc... But I made sure to acknowledged that I fucked up/made a mistake and still need to take the L as a means to learn from it. When I do bring up the things listed above, I do so to show that I'm not perfect, I probably need some medical/physiological help, and that I'm probably going to continue making mistakes as I get older.
Sadly, the community doesn't feel the same way as me and feel as if I need to shut up my angsty/negative emotions even though they do the very same thing/things as me. But hey these "communities" need someone hate, am I right lol.

As someone who struggled/struggles with an eating disorder I do find it hard to watch Eugenia. This is not a reason to deplatform her, it's up to me to avoid content I find harmful.
I unironically feel sad and empathy for Eugenia. I am diagnosed with bpd which a lot of people have eating disorders as well. Seeing her makes me sick because I know what it's like to suffer in self harm and I'd hate someone to hurt like I did. Luckily for me, I only suffered with cutting and threats of suicide. I could actually see myself going down her path. Beyond my tired rambling, I generally want her to feel better.

I am diagnosed bpd as well and this is true! i also am diagnosed with an ED. it can get tough and having so many little bugs intruding and trying to analyze you, your family and motives while also insulting your appearance extremely. eugenia is probably SO. The fact of the matter is that they aren't intimidated by the morbidly obese. All the tea channels are incredibly superficially concerned with appearances. So despite the fact that Eugenia literally has an eating disorder, they're on some level jealous of her being skinny (even though it's a literal medical affliction). But since she's too skinny they feel free to mock and harass her. They get dopamine rush and get payed by TH-cam to mock someone.
I think it’s a jealousy thing. It’s easy to praise Lizzo and Tess Holiday because they think they are superior to them appearance wise. Whilst Eugena’s skinniness can be linked to beauty, as skinniness often is.

Belle's videos and tweets about Eugenia have negatively contributed to my struggle with ED (not blaming her, these have just been one of many worsening factors for me lately) and I wanted to make a video about it, cos I figured "no one else seems to see the problem here" but I quickly realized I was in the worst position to do so and had to step away from the whole thing 😅

As someone that has battled eating disorders on both drastic ends, I am heartbroken seeing people not recognizing that people like myself would use hobbies and social media to keep ourselves distracted. (Eugenia is clearly using fashion and videos as her distractions. I.e. keeps her going). When those things are taken away, there is nothing to distract from self harm. Why can’t people see the long history of deaths of those with eating disorders stemmed from their distractions taken away? Look how many become obsessed even further with eating disorders, self injury, and/or drug use. It’s a whole lot
Next as for body checking, absolutely not. Body checking is done in private. The things you’d never let anyone see. I’m talking underwear/naked in off positions to find anything gross about yourself to change. This would be devastating for others to see, let alone do on stream. As for subconscious checking, that is possible, but not as people are saying. Please have compassion and know it can be the detriment of Eugenia taking her hobbies away

Tea channels are where everything good in this world goes to die.
Every time a tea channel clip played in this video I lost brain cells. This is a pretty generic thing to say, but I genuinely feel dumber now. I feel like I lost something over the course of viewing these people open their mouths. I'm worried my IQ has fallen into the negatives. I can't go on like this.
